I'm not familiar with this model but it appears to be a good price. Though I wonder if there is room to move with this price as you can buy 3D TV's around this price. I personally don't care about 3D but shouldn't a "2D" TV cost less? Either way, looks to be a very nice TV with good features.
Good Guys are selling a Samsung 50 inch 3D plasma for $1899 and it comes with a 3D BluRay player from Samsung. That same TV was here on OzBargain for $1699 a short while ago, if I remember correctly.
We got this Samsung from good guys :D and love it (On the Saturday before last). The display model had a massive red washout but the one we took home was fine. Got 4 pairs glasses + 2 monsters vs aliens + blu-ray player all up… and it was $1880 :)
We looked at and considered this plasma, but in our opinion the picture looked a bit 'off'? It was just not quite sharp, not as nice to look at, though then again it was a ONE HD broadcast which was terribly compressed and didn't look great on any of the TVs. It was $1999 when we looked at it then too. Also came with a free blu-ray player/speaker system, though that expired.
Oh and @Click_it, this does cost less. the 3D version of this model was over 3 grand or something crazy :S. The price jump from 50" to 54" seemed mental :/
Prices for memory for Panasonics were 1700 for 50" 2D, 2400 for 50" 3D, 2000 for 54" 2D, didn't find out the 54" 3D price.
Model number please
Click 'Buy online', it is the TH-P54V20A.
Confused me a lot searching online, as the picture on the link shows a round base, but when you click the 'buy online' thing you see the proper picture with a square base :S
What's the wattage on these things? They tend to be quite high…..
Over 500 watts, less if you lower the backlight

Seen it cheaper… http://www.binglee.com.au/panasonic-th-p54v20a-54-full-hd-pl…
$1949
Or how about this one?

$1,695.00 (Free shipping)
I believe they are slighty different models. Only significant difference is in dynamic contrast (This one is 2,000,000:1) and 3x HDMI
But it is $300 cheaper…
The one I posted is the same….
No, the one you posted was the later model, as is the one in this deal.(Look for the S or V in the model number, V is the newer one)
It's fairly common to see the S model around 1700. I can't comment on the picture quality, we didn't look at this one more than a glance.
To me the biggest difference seems to be that the more expensive model supports USB playback and recording. So, if that feature is any good, with a big USB stick you'll have yourself a PVR inside the TV. Not sure if that is worth $300 though, as for that price you can get dual tuner PVR set top boxes.
Not only PVR, but it also support Internet TV function & Streaming from LAN. This definitely worth more than $300.

This is NOT a bargain. It has been at that price for ages at JB. You can get it CHEAPER at MYER (approx $1800) with their 10% mid season season sale.
VIErA TH-P54V20A 54" Full-HD Digital Plasma TV
Tooooooooooooo expansive….someone only pay $1700 for this model on AUG from jb-hifi
Huh? the TH-P54V20A is 1999 here, and the older TH-P54S20A is 2296 on JB's website: http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/plasma-lcd-tvs/plasma-tv/pana…
Though yeah it probably is cheaper in store
Build in skype nice.
Will it turn on automatically with incoming call?
