Not sure if this one's targeted but I just received a newsletter from Qantas referring to the introduction of 2-factor authentication. After clicking on the update details button, adding a mobile number, and confirming, they advised that I will receive 2000 Qantas points in a few weeks time.

It was only mentioned on the site after I updated details and before I clicked on the confirm button. Something along the lines are you are a step away from earning 2000 Qantas points. Unfortunately I didn't manage to get a screenshot.

Can verify that using the second link worked. When I confirmed the details I was redirected to a webpage displaying

Try using Chrome Incognito mode. After successfully doing my account I tried my wife's and hers wasn't showing the offer. I then opened a new Incognito window and tried it again and it showed it.

yes once logged in you can see your current point balance and your status. That would be not possible if the site is not legit

It is possible if they login using the credentials you provided and just relay the information.

It is legit and you'll find links to qantaspoints.com under the qantas.com Frequent Flyer > Qantas Points and Partners menu such as 'cards and banking' or 'Online Mall'.

I agree.. struggling to reach www.qantaspoints.com from the main Qantas website.. Makes me a bit suspicious..

I did it, but only got the message that my details were changed successfully…no mention of "Congratulations, you've earned 2000 points" or anything like that. Is that the same for everyone else? Or does it mean the 2000 points wasn't applied to my account?

I went back and clicked the link again, but this time I clicked the "confirm details" button which then redirected me to the "You have received 2000 points" screen

Maybe they're trying to avoid having their customers accounts hacked? 2-factor authentication should be a must for anyone wherever it's made available.
Regardless of getting points or not I recommend using the 2 step verification as I've had my account hacked twice and my points stolen. Whilst Qantas have refunded them, its takes a lot of effort, reports to the police and stat declarations with a JP to get them back. I have asked Qantas on numerous occasions not to publish my points balance in any emails they send out as this is basically like a bank sending you your balance in an open email. If you have a large balance this makes you an easy target as the hacker can see up front that you have an account worth hacking.

I updated my details through the link, but didn't get the message. Logged out and logged in again and clicked on CONFIRM, the 2000 bonus Qantas Points message then poped up. Fingers crossed!

If it's not working sign in and then go into your account in the drop down. There's a 'check your details' option with the 2k points offer.

2FA is silly idea for QFF. Half the time you're likely to want to use it you'll be overseas, and either without roaming or using a local sim.
2FA as implemented using SMS is a silly idea, yeah. If the app on your phone generated the token instead (or, better, a standard one like Google Authenticator - they mainly use the same TOTP algorithm anyway) then it'd be fine, as you wouldn't need to be able to receive SMSes or even use data in order to use it.

Did they inform you of the points via email or on the site? I got the same email and updated my details. But it didn't mention any points
