This will be nationwide OP, depends on stock levels but definitely nationwide because of that Yellow ticket.

    • +3

What colour would it be if it wasn't nationwide?

      • +28

If it wasn't nationwide it would be shown by using a sticker such as the one on the Telstra Rush above in the picture. The yellow tickets are just nationwide clearance which gets rolled out every week or so, whereas stickers on products denote manager markdowns in store.

        • Doweyy, thanks for the info. May I also ask you what those coloured dots on some labels mean? I have seen blue and red dots on the ticket prices.

        • +2

          @greenlantern:

No worries, the dots on the labels are just for internal use and mean either good sellers/valuable stock.

        • @doweyy:
          Cheers again:)

  • +5

Op you already two unused and still bought the 3rd one? Good on u mate, thank u for ur contribution to OZ economy & GDP

    • +3

That's the OzBargain way. Buy first, think (regret) later.

      • +1

Hey, we 'technically' save up to like 80%.

        • +1

You have to spend to save!

  • +8

this is a good price however it's worth noting that this device does not support 700 MHz LTE B28 (http://www.zte.com.au/telstra/MF90.htm)

    • +19

Did someone say no band 28

      • +24

        TRIGGERED

    • So this is an ZTE box ?

    • Isn't that for Optus 4g plus users only?

  • It is locked?

    • +38

Nah I'm sure there's only a sticker that goes over the opening of the box

      • +1

I raise my glass to you.

  • how easy is it to unlock?

    • +2
      • I wonder what sort of sorcery they use to unlock a phone, surely we can download this application ourselves rather than purchasing it online, no?

        • +3

I believe it is some collusion between manufacturers and key sellers. Some programs, like DC unlocker, can work, but other times the key comes directly from the same people who make the phone.

        • +4

I agree, we must set ourselves an Ozbargain "Holy Grail" to find out the method to unlock phones. Surely it must just be an algorithm that we can crunch in excel……

    • +1

So this ZTE is locked ? Only accessible to Telstra SIM ?

      • +1

I bought the telstra wifi mf910v from coles. It was locked to telstra so i purchased an unlock code from ebay for 2.99 and it worked. The only other thing i had to do was find the APN settings with the wifi settings and change it to my kogan sim settings. You get to the settings by connecting to the wifi with your laptop then typing in the I. P. address into a browser.

        • +1

I purchased the mf910v from woolies with Telstra lock. I managed after unlocking, to modify the client side html using chrome "inspect element" to display and turn on the automatic apn configuration and save it. Now I can plug any SIM in and it auto configures apn just like my mobile.

        • @ymerej: Awesome. Tell me more about this please? did you have instructions to follow? a guide for dummies?

        • Thanks mate.

        • +2

@Jonski: Do this at your own risk
Must be done in Google Chrome
          1. Login to modem
          2. Disconnect the current WAN
          3. Network settings>APN> Add New APN
          4. Change Profile name to some thing other than the default Telstra
          5. Right click on "Current APN" click Inspect
          6. 4 Lines below the highlighted element you should find <div class="row-fluid hide">
          7. Delete the word "hide". It now should read <div class="row-fluid">
          8. It should show on screen APN Mode: Auto or Manual radio buttons.
          9 Select Auto
          10. Save profile after completing any compulsory fields.
          11. Restart device

Not sure this is exactly what i did as it was back in june so I take no responsibility if this instruction guide is incorrect. However, in sayying this its not hard to factory reset the device. Bit of trial and error for me worked.

Basically the premise is that Telstra firmware forces the APN Mode to be hidden from the user, but still accessible if you remove the client side formatting. There is no server side validation on the modem so you can change any other setting this way.

        • @ymerej: thankyou mate!!

    • +2

If you're talking about the display cabinet. No idea

    • You can try to change the APN? i bought a few pocket wifi previously, optus/vodafone, i just need to change the APN to use different network simcard.

  • Thanks for the replies, still looking for a cheap unlock from the Huawei E8372 from the last k-mart deal.

    • me too …. maybe just ring telstra after 12 months or so?

      • is it free after 12 months?

        • +1

          seems like 24 months…
          - $80 for devices activated for 6 months or less, or never activated; and

          • $25 for devices activated for more than 6 months up to 2 years.

There is no unlocking fee after that.

        • +7

Careful - I've been misled by Canadian Beaver in the past

        • +1

@shmahoo: Did it taste like maple syrup?

        • +2

          @Local: poutine

      • +1

Off-topic for this deal but Huawei E8372 can be unlocked with a bit of effort using essentially these steps but see this comment first about calculating the OEM code before NCK. It's not really a straightforward process though.

  • Are the chargers that come with 2.1 amp?

    • I cannot say for sure, but generally these will come with 1A or less. Even new phones these days don't always come with 2.1A.

  • Are these the same as the Woolies ones from a couple of months back?

    • +1

Don't think so. This is a more basic wifi modem (I have one of these from overseas and it did not last very long but YMMV). The Woolies deal had 910V's which are 4GX (faster).

      • Ah ok. Thanks

  • +2

Be interesting to see how much data credit comes up on activation with these. I activated a Telstra 4GX stick recently which I thought came with 3GB and it came up with 5GB data credit.

  • +2

This will stack up against my pile of unused Sims nicely

  • Will this work as a router? I want the devices on the network to be able to see each other.

    • +3

Yes both devices connected to this hotspot can see eachother e.g. My iPhone can screencast to my appletv etc

  • Anyone other than OP got this?

  • 2 pink ones left at Indooroopilly.

  • Confirming hurstville kmart no stock. Asked the staff and they said they haven't had these for a while.

  • any chance you can buy these to watch the AFL/NRL for 30 days for the included price?

  • Anyone found stock at eastern suburbs Melbourne? Rang up a dew stores but none has it.

    • +6

They'll get mould soon if they don't sort that out.

    • where did you try?

    • None in the Burwood branch

  • Went to my local kmart (ringwood, Vic) and it was still marked as $60+
Staff member scanned it and it was not $5
Don't think this deal is nationwide

    • The $60 ones are newer stock.
