Sydney to Manila $109 One Way or ~$170 Return. Plus Many PH Domestic/Additional International Leg Bargains - Cebu Pacific Air

190

Edit: Marked expired as it looks like sold out on SYD-MNL. There are still many very good domestic fares available in PH and maybe other international legs - I haven't checked but good luck ;)

Cebu Pacific is having another 1 peso fare sale - basically same as my previous deal in February. All routes (except SYD-MNL) are 1 peso PLUS admin fee and mandated taxes etc. This is literally as cheap as their prices get and only a few times a year.

Sydney to Manila is $109 one-way.
Manila to Sydney is P2200 one-way (about $60).

Previous deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/290565

Book are two separate trips for best rates if starting in SYD especially.

Obviously use Bankwest Platinum, 28 degrees or Citibank Debit to avoid cross-border/comveraion fees. I'd recommend Bankwest Platinum personally for the travel insurance (I don't have a 28 degrees so not sure of any cover).

Site is currently struggling badly (it is at least from here inside PH), not sure if they give any extra preference to traffic from outside PH or not.

From past experience there won't be that many dates but they are defineitly available - just need to find them. There will literally be no availability near Christmas/New Year.

Travel dates are 01/09/2017 to 15/03/2018.

Probably of most use if you are completely open to any travel dates - once you find flights SYD-MNL. Then consider booking (separately, id leave it a day or two myself) to an Island or even onto Hong Kong, Dubai, Taiwan, China (or any of the usual Asian cities that they fly to). Manila is reasonably safe (not the horror story you read about I can assure you), traffic is awful - but it's a good stop over for a few days for sure.

Sale ends tomorrow. Hope someone can find a bargain ;)

I just booked three internal flights. Total cost ~$24. No luggage as yet, but you can add that later.

I bought two of the $170 return trips back in April so they are both shaping up as very cheap holidays.

    • Yep definitely don't add luggage until the last minutes (before online check in closes) in case plans change!

Where are these $109 one way flights? I've tried numerous dates & all are $350 approx one way.

    • And the only upvotes on that comment were after the deal was marked EXPIRED!

Not a valid neg vote and you've been around here long enough to know it.

I don't represent Cebu Pacific - to be honest I detest them but at these prices how can you complain. They are fine as long as nothing goes wrong… if it does, it will get sorted but it will take ages.

Safe to say that the flights SYD-MNL are now sold out if you can't find any. There were 700 available. So instead, flag the post as expired if that's your findings.

There are still a lot of good deals - mileage will vary, speed is everything with these sales as they are obviously headline fares to get you interested/on the site.

    Expired sold out

      Inappropriate neg.
You've been around long enough to know that!

Marked EXPIRED (5:36am) before you negged deal (6:02am).
You stated what could already be read at top of deal.

        • +1

It's in the OzBargain guidelines for neg votes - no permission needed from anyone. But Mods have suggested the community encourage others to stick to the guidelines (downvote infringements).

It's clearly an inappropriate neg vote by the voting guidelines.

Sold Out is best to be reported - which was clearly done long before your comment. Reporting after it's been listed as EXPIRED just wastes the time of the Mods. There was a report around the time of your comment.

Only clarified that for the sake of those new to OzBargain, as you already must be aware of this.

Valid negs can be a handy tool to know if a supplier, product, or service is worth considering.

Even the OP says they would avoid Cebu! That would be a very valid neg, but already addressed.

You seem a grumpy one this morning.

          @Infidel:

I stand by my neg vote and comments there are major issues with cebu airlines that are frequently addressed

          @vip69:
Your neg vote was stated for Expired sold out. As such inappropriate. End of story.

Jesus mate you do get that I marked it expired almost 30 minutes before your comment? Stuff sells out - fact of life.

To be honest - it sounds like you had a rubbish experience on Cebu Pacific in the past - granted that's possible (I've had my share of them but I've taken a lot of flights so I accept a few will be crappy) but I hope they actually did something wrong rather than you having unrealistic expectations (they are a budget carrier so service is obviously going to be less of a priority, delayed flights - yep that happens but in my experience it's Manila's crowded airport/weather etc that's the issue rather than something you can blame on them).

Anyway - not interested in a protracted chat but just reminding you that's it's needless negativity like yours that pushes people away from the site and makes them wonder why they bothered posting a deal at all and then we all lose out.

    • Yes, neg votes do discourage members from posting deals.

Reducing the number of members posting deals & number of possibly interesting deals just affects the whole community. We've lost great deal posters due to the negativity.

I receive messages from frequent posters of great deals complaining about the number of negs they receive. It affects some well known deal posters.

Both neg votes are for lack of available discounted fares - a valid comment but an invalid reason to neg by the Voting Guidelines.

Members are upvoting those negs AFTER the deal was marked EXPIRED!!

Deal is still being reported for lack of available discounted fares, AFTER the deal was marked EXPIRED!!

Seems people can't read the big red box at the start of Deal Title marked EXPIRED!!

But who wouldn't want a flight for this price? Ok it's not an airline with a good reputation on OzBargain, but look at the price ;-)

So many comments. So little to do with the deal……
    Good post OP.

    • Guilty as charged :-)
Totally off topic into the land of unwarranted invalid neg votes that now have been withdrawn.

  • Users are reminded about the voting guidelines. If the deal has expired, hit the report link so a mod can expire it. Voting negative due to expired is not an appropriate reason.

Also, let's not attack each other. Discussion is fine but being disrespectful to each other is not. Commenting Guidelines.

just flew home yesterday on Cebu surprisingly on time and flight was OK except for lets say…. one certain unnamed nationality sitting infront of me who took it upon themselves to stomp around up and down right before take off and then yell at everyone to move their seats so they could both lay 3 across…. staff of course being filipino would do exactly like you can guess…. 'please sit down sir….' to no avail.

other than that cant fault them for the price. dont schedule in any transfers that are even remotely within 12 hrs of landing each direction and even then you probably shouldn't do transfers at all until a day or two later if you can because i've missed many

Flying on Cebu Pacific expect it to be late all of the time. varying from 15 mins late to a day or so. 'sorry sir' is something you should get used to anyway.

    • Totally agree!

"Sorry sir" is not unique to Cebu Pacific (as I'm sure you're aware as a regular). It's a Filipino thing. It's very hard to get used to at first (it was for me anyway).

I really don't like defending them because they are woefully unprepared when things go wrong but the same can really be said for most budget carriers I've been on. I've found Cebu Pacific much better than dealing with Airasia personally. And honestly - if you're done the right thing and they are still being painful - process a PayPal or chargeback dispute - they have no systems in place to defend them so you will win every time (speaking from experience - but like I said I was in the right on each occasion, not pulling a dodgy).

I just don't get why people need to be so begative toward them if they are paying basically nothing for the flight… and if you're booking last minute and getting stupidly high prices - fly with a full service airline instead!

I just got back from MNL-Dubai-MNL - paid <$45 return! Same for MNL-Doha-MNL.

Also I had booked MNL-Kuwait-MNL at <$45 and because they cancelled that route they transferred me to a full service airline instead! I'd paid them less than $45, they paid PAL about $650 for my replacement flights…. yes it was woefully painful getting the change processed but you learn that it's a part of flying cheap and basically a part of living/visiting here.
