Sydney to Manila $109 One Way or $177.62 Return. Plus Many PH Domestic Bargains - Cebu Pacific Air

860

Travel period is between 10 June 2017 and 10 December 2017. Site currently getting hammered but if patient there are bargains to be had.

Cheapest since the early $143 return days!

Example dates 20/07/2017 to 02/08/2017 with no add-ons = $177.62. Potentially (as always) better to book as 2 one way flights instead.

It seems the latest update of the site has removed PayPal… Bankwest/Citibank Plus etc recommended.

First post etc… :)

Cebu Pacific are fine - if you understand its a budget carrier. Philippines is generally safe and enjoyable. Manila isn't a touristy city but you also are highly unlikely to get shot or have any issues if staying in Makati/BGC etc.

Use this page to see promo fares from PH (you can then assume that flights in the opposite direction are also on sale).

Basically for this sale (if you can still find fares) it's 1 peso/$ etc plus taxes and admin fees - this is the cheapest their prices ever get (last 1 peso sale was almost a year ago).

    JUST GOT BACK

Nice, difficult to find dates but there's a couple available. Just need Cebu to start flying out of Melbourne already.

    • +3

      And Brisbane

Go to the islands and do not spend too much time in Manila

    • +2

Yep the islands or use this to fly further into Asia or about as cheaply as possible to the Middle East (and onto Europe and then potentially the US by piecing together budget flights).

    • +9

There is more to the Phils than just the islands.

Head north of Manila to Ilocos Norte and check out Vigan or go to Baguio city in the mountains. Hike Mt Pinatubo, see the Banuae rice fields, go white-water rafting in Cagayan. Check out the Paoay sand dunes by 4WD. Try surfing at San Juan, La Union or drive the Patapat Viaduct.

There really is so much to do in Luzon.

      • +1

That's true - depends what you want and how much time you have. Baguio City is really nice and easy to reach from Manila - a lot of domestic tourists but very nice.

Ilocos Norte/Sur is definitely worth the effort to reach (they're a decent distance from Manila if driving/bus) - I liked Pagudpud and Vigan.

For a week or two first time visitor though I'd still recommend the Islands - Boracay, El Nido (Palawan) or Cebu - depending what you're looking for.

Haven't been to Cagayan yet but it also looks interesting.

Banuae is just stunning. Wife and I stayed in a traditional Ifugao hut on top of a mountain, looking over thousands of rice terraces. If you're feeling up to it their cave system is also amazing. The locals are very friendly and will bend over backwards to help you. Highly recommended.

    • Heard there's snorkeling with whale sharks and manta rays!

I think Cebu Pacific doesn't like me.

They send me pointless e-mails about new routes and so-so Australia Day sales but not this?

    • +5

The newsletters are notoriously rubbish. I unsubscribed as rarely got info on details in time.

    • +2

Their email system is lacking to say the least… I literally check the promo page as often as I do Ozbargain to make sure I don't miss the start of a decent sale (like this one)… if you follow them on twitter or Facebook they do manage to post these there as well.

Been there twice-first trip there was on Cebu pacific with the exact price as this one in 2015. Great place!

Manila is an everyday shoppers paradise.

The SM Malls are huge and sometimes the only places where there is relief from the relentless heat.

  • Unfortunately not as much availability as the last few times there were sales. Maybe because it's been so long, all the expat pinoys are jumping on the cheap tix!

  • Any recommendations for island hopping? Puerto Princesa looks cheap… $299 rt

    • +1

Yeah, the Honda Bay tour is fantastic. There's a number of tour guides you can find on the web, but go for the independent operators.

    • And underground river tour as well. Try to organise this with your hotel about 1 or 2 weeks prior to your arrival because the permits to get in are limited in number.

      • +1

Personally I found this really underwhelming. While the sheer size of the caverns were cool. The tour focused on showing us rock formations that were tenuously named after various celebrities/objects.

  • +2

BTW, the sale is for all direct domestic and international flights, if you can find any left.

  • +1

Puerto Princesa is a great little place, got some cool cafes and restaurants too !
Then head up north to some awesome spots but be prepared to ride rough, hours inside squeezed inside those jeepneys is tough work.

Nice quiet place is South Palms in Panglao, Bohol.

  • Prins - little bit of free advertising here ?? At $800 a night, it should be quiet and one of the most expensive hotels in PI. Bit out of reach for most oz-bargainers. Most really great hotels in the Philippines are less than $180,
You can find some nice budget hotels for around $25 - $45

    • Oh, sorry I didn't know it's that expensive. It's not that expensive when I went there a year ago.

  • +1

Nice! Great opportunity to pop over and visit fam in Cebu. I usually try to avoid flying through Manila because it's so hectic, but can make an exception at this price!

  • +3

First sale return fare I could find was November…pretty much sold out.

I spent a week in Coron (Palawan). The day we spent on a private boat visiting beautiful unspoilt islands and caves and snorkeling was up there with the greatest travel experiences I ever had. It cost $100 for 2 and included lunch.

Although Manila isn't the nicest place, a lot of fun for a night or two and very reasonable to drink and eat with affordable 5 star hotels.

Can't find any cheap flights from Manila to Sydney

    • +1

Yep coming back seems limited/no availability!

    • +1

yup, seems like all the cheap tickets have been bought already :/

    Thanks heaps OP!
I needed to find cheap flights for the end of the year to visit and this was perfect.

Bought Manila/Cebu $206 Return for 6 weeks Oct Nov.. I dumped all baggage and meals in case i can't make it over. Then before I head over i add what i need.
TIP1. don't check in until you have added your baggage and meals first !
TIP2. Make sure you keep your nose clean over there, especially now with Duterte, he is def crazier than Trump.
Apparently some are shooting others who think are "drug users" or "drug dealers" and get treated like heros for it. It's becoming like Brazil where if you have an issue with someone you persuade the others in the village that the other person is a drug dealer or rapist, then the village gets together and beats the crap out of them, then they either stone them, burn then or shoot them depending on the day.
I've had a gun at my head twice over there, once by a drunk police man in a karaoke bar in Manilla. The other cops shot him in a 20 bullet shootout, not sure if he made it) and another time in a Manilla nightclub (I started dating the wrong girl and the boss wasn't happy). Generally, it's safe as long as you don't piss anyone off, but always lock your doors and don't go anywhere near that chabu shit or anything else or that matter, its crap quality and it's not worth it.

    • I googled their name for ice/meth. Apparently they spell it "shabu".

After your stories I've decided I'm not going into any nightclub in Manila. Unless you tell me you were in Manila for 10 years spent and spent 8 hours a day on average in nightclubs :)

  • Sorry, quite correct "Shabu", though it sounds like shebu when they say it. It's cheap Crystal Meth from china, really nasty stuff, turns them into zombies. I remember one girl had some and didnt move an inch for 9 hours, just sat there. Many others go totally aggro, but for us foreigners… seems to be just you up all night, can't eat, drink tons then crash n burn for 3 days.
I stayed there in Manilla for a month, partied with a few female students till 5am every morning, walked home each time without a problem. These days I don't think I'd take that same gamble.
All night clubs have signs asking patrons to hand in their weapons, the girls I was hanging with took out small pistols, chubby one had a knife in her shoe!!! crazy !!

    • You sure they were students? Crazy

  • Yes, I should elaborate Uni students….not primary !

  • Dam I missed out,oh well it is a bit of a hassle for me living in Brisbane. Last month my connecting flight from Brisbane to Sydney was cancelled by jetstar at 6am. I couldn't get a flight to Sydney in time so missed my Sydney to manila and manila to Sydney flights what a waste of money.
