    hi mr jack

  • +2

Same is the case for Moto G5..Website has it for 249. Ebay has it at 299.
But still turns out to be better than website price with 20% off.

    • +4

Which is why I'm just going to buy one at Officeworks. Scummy Good Guys.

    • +1

TGG eBay works out to be $247.20 including $8 postage.

Mobileciti had it for $223.38 delivered or pickup from Woolworths with the previous 15% eBay codes.

Even with my 10% off eBay code I have, the total cost is $236.52.

      TGG need to do better.

    • another example of cheating - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Sony-MDRZX110NC-On-Ear-Noise-…
These headphones were previously sold at $69 (last time in April 2017) - now the price increased to $125, whereas their market price is $48 before discount

Are these the same laptops? Check the prices
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Acer-NX-GDWSA-009-Aspire-E5-5… $1099 ;out of stock anyway]
https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/acer-aspire-e5-575g-5230-156-… $777 [stock varies from store to store]

    • +1

I had a similar issue with this fridge

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/122566218721 - $1799

      https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-583l-french-door-refr… - $1588

Yes it's still cheaper on eBay after the code, but this is the response from the ebay store when i queried them:

"The Good Guys ebay store is an outlet store that operates in an online marketplace independently from The Good Guys. Prices are set and can not be amended.

Pricing and promotional offers may differ from The Good Guys website and The Good Guys stores."

      Seems dodgy to me

    • +2

Reason for Neg: thegoodguys.com.au website have it for $777, but ebay deal is $879.20

  • Those who are buying, please NOTE: The redemption code requires payment with an Australian PayPal account in order to take effect.

  • Pretty awesome deal as usual. I think these Hisense TVs are great at the price point, the 55" being better value if you can handle the smaller screen:-

Both of those are dummy listings, not available.

      • They were there until 10pm. Good guys are really pulling alot of stock it seems

  • +14

Dodgy TheBadGuys pricejacking and removing stock from their listings.

  • +16

Dodgy TGG, they should be banned.

    • +1

IMO eBay should also be held accountable.

      • Agreed. They need to explain to people using eBay that they only fund half of the supposed 20% discount (the seller has to fund the other 10% discount, in addition to the exorbitant eBay and PayPal fees ). In all honesty, even I thought eBay was the one absorbing the 20% discount. Actually it's just smoke and mirrors.

  • +11

For these store specific ebay specials, should really come with a disclaimer.

I'm sure a few less ebay/tech savy who get trapped into these 'deals', hence why they continue this price hiking during specials.

    Waiting for the Sitewide special.

  • +7

It's BADGUYS and the code is CBAD.

    • +2

      BAD GUYS, should be banned

  • I will be refreshing OzBargain and eBay for the special deals today. Been holding some items in cart. Please make it happen. Long time no see 20% storewide

    • if it lands it's gonna be crazy!! (pun intended).
they had code crazy ready yesterday for 15%, it hit ozb, then it got pulled, maybe for the big mother today?

  • Nice, cheaper MacBooks!

  • +4

Good Guys on the price jacking bandwagon huh? … pity.

    • But they have always pricejacked with these promos since day one.

      • +8

no TGG, I think this is their first time, pretty sad.

  • +5

Let the blind up votes begin

Has anyone got this trimmer at home? How does it fare for beard trimming, etc?

  • +38

It seems the standard for the ozbargain community of recognising a "bargain" has dropped. It used to take more effort than this to have something worth this many upvotes. Seriously people lift ur standards or this is gonna be the norm in the "bargain" area, makes me sick.

    • +7

OzBargain doesnt really have standards anymore. Too many new users simply upvoting everything to be nice, but ultimately do more damage to real bargains. It should be compulsory to leave a comment to be able to vote positive (like how negs work) and also if you receive too many negs to your comment, your positive should be revoked (again, like how neg voting works).

      • +4

I agree a new system needs to be implemented to atleast allow a bargain be defined as a actual saving of the cost price, example set a minimum standard of say 5% off a retail price where the retail price is also realistic. If something isnt done then this could have negative impacts on ozbargain as a whole. This deal does not deserve a spot on the front page and im tired of seeing endless other bargains being thrown on the front page without any significance.

  • +3

was looking at getting a Dyson Big Ball Animal - it was $699 yesterday, now it's $899… it's actually more than Dyson's website. Thanks good guys.
    NOT.

  • +11

Aahh.. so now tgg are jacking prices too. Ebay fail… welcome amazon.

  • +2

Thanks Good Guys, Jacked up prices then show us 20% off, what a bunch of losers, I thought they probably put megaboom on sales, but no, even after 20% it is still expensive, No deal!

  • +7

TGG jacked up the prices for all items I had in the cart. Just bad business practice IMO. CBAD

    • +1

      Report them to consumer affairs.

  • Too many items being removed and others price jacked. You literally have to buy within the first few minutes with these eBay store deals before they update their listings.

  • +2

Some of the prices are cheaper on their own website even after the discount code…

    Logitech Z150 on eBay $31.96

    On Their Website $23.20

I'd wait until they fix their pricing for some things if you're going to buy. Upvoted because there are some good deals such as Jbl Flip 3 for $79.20 but still dodgy practices.

  • +3

If they are price jacking, make a complaint with ACCC as it is meant to be an illegal practice

    • +3

We don't need to as you would have already done it?

      • +4

if they receive one enquiry, less incentive for ACCC to do something. if they receive more enquiries, more likely to take action

  • anyone tried the 30days price guarantee on things bought from the ebay store ?

    • yes a long time ago and it worked.
The invoice showed the full price even though 20% was funded by eBay discount.

I managed to use the price guarantee against the full price.
Don't know if this is excluded now though.

      • i cant find any new TnC from their website, so im going to do that.. coz i can find HN is cheaper now, but i wont be 'collecting' the item in few weeks time

        • Please post on how you go.

I found this on The Good Guys eBay store page:

          http://stores.ebay.com.au/The-Good-Guys-Australia/Terms-and-…

Is The Good Guys ebay store part of The Good Guys Pty Ltd?
All products are supplied from The Good Guys Discount Warehouses (Australia) Pty Ltd, however product range, product availability, product pricing, delivery and pick up in store options may differ from The Good Guys website and The Good Guys stores. Individual The Good Guys stores or The Good Guys website are under no obligation to match any offer available from 'The Good Guys on eBay'. The Good Guys 30 Day Price Guarantee does not apply to ebay pricing."

          And further down:

Why is ebay excluded from the 30 Day Price Guarantee?
ebay operates in an online marketplace independently from The Good Guys. Orders we fulfil on ebay are for ebay customers and made under the ebay terms of trade.
Under our agreement with ebay, our outlet store on their site must agree to participate in a number of promotional days that are planned by ebay directly. ebay determines the dates and basis of these promotions.
Our PAY LESS Price Promises are everyday benefits we offer to customers of The Good Guys. These benefits are not generally extended to customers of independent online business.

        • @drsmithy:
check on the bottom of the page of the online site.
"The Good Guys Discount Warehouses (Australia) Pty Ltd ACN 004880657"

        • @dasher86:

Ah. So you reckon because "all products are supplied from The Good Guys Discount Warehouses (Australia) Pty Ltd" per the eBay store's page that matches up with "The Good Guys Discount Warehouses (Australia) Pty Ltd" for the regular online store ?

Does your tax invoice for your previous success at this have the ACN on it ?

There's some ambiguity in the interpretation of what's on TGG eBay page as to whether they are talking about price matching in-store against the TGG eBay prices, or price matching TGG eBay store prices against, say, HN or JB.

        • @drsmithy:
They've probably covered themselves some where since i have claimed…
I actually don't have the tax invoice on me. i have the paypal receipt.

        • @dasher86:

Have messaged TGG eBay to clarify what they mean. A calculated risk, but at least I'll know.

        • @drsmithy:

Reply from TGG eBay basically just restates what's in the link referenced above:

          Hi drsmithy,

          Thank you for your message.

Ebay is excluded from our 30 Day Price Guarantee as it operates in an online marketplace independently from The Good Guys. Orders we fulfil on ebay are for ebay customers and made under the ebay terms of trade.

          Kind Regards,

          Samantha.

So probably best to assume you can't price-match anything bought from TGG eBay store, and consider it a bonus if you managed to get away with it.

      • Can you remember when ?

Would be interested to try and pull up the old TGG eBay T&Cs page from then and see if it has changed.

Guys I think we should all report TGG deals on OZB and get them removed.

    CBAD

  • +2

    Price jacking farce.

  • Got a bit excited when I saw the word Storewide until I saw The Good Guys … :(

  • +11

If only people cared about posting actual bargains rather than a blanket 20% off that may not include anything significant.

By all means, post deals of this nature, but also include an actual bargain to be had. If you can't find any, then don't post it.

It seems that anything that could have been of real saving has been jacked or removed altogether. Be great if the Hero5 Black was there, but nope.

The desire to be first and obtain those badges is hurting this site.

Upvotes no longer signify a good deal. This is a forum post at best.

    • +1

It wouldn't have been great if the GoPro was there because the price was $548 before removal, so way above recent prices.

      • +1

Ok, yes. Maybe that was a bad example.

What I was saying was that products that normally would be there now aren't. How (in)convenient.

    • +1

For people who haven't reported to the ACCC - what's the step by step process? It might get more people reporting if they see what's involved.

  • +4

  • +1

    Jacked up prices. No bargain.

  • -8

Why attack the OP for posting this? 20% off, on face value, is a great bargain and I would have posted it as well. TGG have no reputation for jacking up the price. If people are dismissing deals like this on the chance of price jacking, and not posting them or putting them in forums, we're going to miss some genuine bargains.

Put down your pitchforks and flaming torches ffs

    • +3

      What? Who is attacking OP?

        • +2

Attacking the deal. It would be weird if the OP took it personally.

And it would be wrong for people to have a go at the OP for TGG's actions.

        • +1

Are we reading the same thing? They are talking about this deal. Nobody is attacking the OP.

    • +4

what are you talking about mate? there's no "chance" of price jacking it is price jacking.

I wanted to buy a Miele Vac and have been watching the price - it's been jacked and then reduced with the 20% - i have provided evidence to the ACCC and they will be investigating it.

The latest price from the good guys website: $994

The price from the good guys ebay store: $1299
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Samsung-SR530LSTC-533L-Top-Mo…

The price have been staying the same between TGG store and their ebay store for months.

Nice try The Good Guys - proudly owned by JBHifi.

    Prices are a ripoff

    • +3

Well they are owned by JB now so we can expect this practice to continue : (

  • +1

I'm not saying there are no bargains but the few things I looked at were jacked up so that there was no bargain to be had. Good code, bad result.
