    they aren't Good Guys

Checked a couple of items and cheaper in store

  • +4

I use to genuinely get excited when I saw the 20% off sales, now it's safe to assume price jacking meaning there is no deal to be had. False advertising!

  • +4

they removed the item i was after.

  • +2

just came here to see why the 128 neg votes then realise the typical stuff has happened when supposed sales are on.. price hiking.. pffft

  • +3

    prices are sky high

  • +5

These Pre sale price increases, ACCC needs to get involved.

  • +4

Items are more expensive after discount than on their website. Disgusting.

  • +2

JB taking over GG killed the 20% sales excitement.

  • +1

Turn the soldering iron on and walk away… Nice price jacking JB!

  • +1

      • Thanks TA better late than never

  • +6

Criminal. The item I want has been removed at $799. Customer service confirmed in writing there are 45 in stock. They say the listing has been removed due to a 'technical error in the listing'

    TGG should be banned…

  • +2

i was eyeing the yamaha 106, it was only $269, now listed at $349…

  • +1

Doggy bad guys , karma will serve these guys

  • +1

No deal. They put their prices up a couple of weeks ago just before a 15% eBay sale to higher than their prices online or in-store. I know because I had an item in my cart for about 5 minutes when they put the prices up. I'm guessing they were anticipating this sale.

  • +1

I managed to purchase an oven from their ebay sale just now. Was actually cheaper than anywhere else after the code was applied by $60 but they did jack up the price compared to their own website by $100 lol

Happy in the end as I saved $60 and used cashrewards

The Samsung Tab S2 8.0 tablet is $549 today but was $399 when I price matched (and bought) it at OW. So $439.20 with 20% off today - ouch!

  • +4

So my negative vote revoked? Why?

  • +2

Price jacked the hell out of everything… items on TGG website cheaper on the ebay page even with the 20% off discount. Pretty disgusting to see this kind of practice :(

  • +3

Very bad form on the price jacking TGG

  • +3

I hit the report button due to it being illegal advertising a fake sale.

  • +7

Mods removing negative votes from this post almost makes it seem they are an advocate for this type of business practice

    • +2

Yup, that's the OzB policy - bargain posts always preside (even when they're not bargains).
How hard would it be to allow those negs that are removed a 2nd chance to comment and reinstate their neg?
Then we wouldn't have to put up with crap like this from dodgy retailers

      • +1

Why are mods removing -ve votes ?
Believe we can use -ve comments where appropriate, correct ?

        • Voting Guidelines

At the very least, people need to give a reason. It's not asking a lot.

        • -2

@neil: I did. Clearly you would have better things to do then to remove a comment that comments on prices. Ridiculous

        • No, your comment was ridiculous:

          Bad boys bad guys

        • @neil: is posting a ridiculous comment correct ? when people see there is no deal, i believe people can vent their frustration. for a price hike from TGG like this, do we still need to give a valid reason ?

        • @rajy:

          Yes, voting guidelines.

          • Negative votes, while helping members to quickly see issues in the deal also works to temporarily or permanently ban store reps. Thus we try to ensure voting guidelines are enforced.

          • The same goes to the other end of the spectrum. We make sure all positive votes are not by astroturfers, sockpuppets or those associated with the deal as that too can lead to artificially promoted deals (and bypassing rep posting limits). (15 deals & stores banned last month).

These are the voting guidelines we have been following and enforcing for the better part of 10 years. We need to treat all deals the same for consistency (as best as we can).

        • @neil: thanks, appreciate your response in making it clear.

    • Oh i dunno - they're probably just trying to be consistent with the application of their policies, which is fine by me, unless of course they mark my post below as 'pointless', which of course it is.

  • Holy crap, what happened while i was away?

  • All the kelvinator split aircons been pulled off :(

  • +1

loking at their site and a dryer.. The price is ebay is 20% more and on the site is already less….

  • +3

Not sure why retailers engage in this type of deceptive conduct facilitated by eBay. The short term gains surely don't outweigh the damage to their business/brand in the long run.

  • Does anyone know if this can be stacked with the 10% off paypal treat code? Missed out on the bosch washing machine the other day from appliances online and trying to get one.

    • 10% off paypal treat code

I don't know when was the last time we were able to stack codes on eBay. On a side note, even if you were able to stack - the prices might still be more than their website (pun intended).

  • Price jacked

  • So much red!

    • +2

Red is the new green lol :)

  • So disappointed with this. Had been waiting for a GG 20% off to buy a Dyson vacuum which is currently $549 on sale everywhere including Dyson themselves. GG website, $545, eBay site $699!!! Such a shame.

  • Did anyone get an ebay survey on their purchases made off TGG during this 20% sale?
I just got one and made them full aware of the act that TGG increasing prices on ebay prior to the sale, and even removing some items.

Hopefully others did the same, and that they will do something about it next time!
Hopefully the survey actually gets read and processed……
