  • Got it!!

    • I never get these. Well, I did ages ago and I haven't sold anything for quite a while so I don't understand their algorithms.

  • +2

    there really is a god

    We must have different gods

    • The older gods

    • I take it you follow Hinduism?

    • Mine's given me something way better than you can buy on eBay. Even better, it's free!

  • Does anyone have any idea as to how this applies to relisting of existing items?

    • +1

Yes, Your item number changes when you relist your item. To their systems, it's a brand new posting since it has a different start and end date.

      • What if you revise a listing midway and change the price? Same item number in that case?

        • Shouldn't be an issue.

I think you can also automatically relist an item for 3 times and you should still be eligible.

        • @Scab:

I actually got caught out when I changed a listing type from Fixed price to Auction.

If you click "send to online Auction" ebay actually creates a new listing with a new UID and deletes the old one, Be careful of this one.

        • @scrimshaw:

Good point, I've never done that, I have all my ads set to "automatically relist 3 times" for free.

You can get caught out so easily with all their crap, their "Good 'til cancelled is the worst" where it will relist if you sell an item and automatically charge you an insertion fee.

        • @Scab:

I paid fees on an automatically relisted item that was initially listed under a promo before.

        • @scuderiarmani:

Not sure what your promo was, but the one I use gives you 40 free listings a month (free as in no insertion fees).

Each ad runs for 10 days and you can set each one to automatically relist 3 times for free, effectively giving you a month for each ad.

        • @Scab:
I'm talking about the free final value fee, not the typical 40 insertion 'promo'. I was slugged when the item was relisted then sold.

You can set ads for 30 days, which I'd encourage given it has to sell in that period.

        • @scuderiarmani:

          Really?

I was under the assumption that auto relisting would still be eligible.

Hard to tell anything from their useless terms and conditions.

EDIT: And yes I meant 30 days and not 10.

        • @Scab:
          It's ebay :) anyway to slug you…

        • @scuderiarmani:

I had the same thing happen to me. Accepted the promo. Let my pre-existing items automatically relist during the promo period. But was still charged the final value fee.

However I contacted their chat support, and they credited me the fee back instantly. Only took 2-3 mins to sort out. Might be worth keeping in mind if you get incorrectly charged.

        • @sipitai:

Hmm probably a time limit on that. I probably would be 20-30 better off from memory too.

    Op's username checks out.

    • +4

You've been dying to say that, haven't you?

  • +1

Not sure why people are flagging this as a dupe, it's a completely different promo.

    • It was closed a few minutes ago and marked as a dupe to Tightarse's promo.

      I'm back, baby.

  • Do you know who does this promo target? I always get the free listing one….always miss out on this one :(

    • You can only get these promos if you have your account preferences set to accept promotions and emails from eBay.

I have no idea how they select people though, I rarely get these offers.

  • I don't see the accept offer button :(

    • Because it's targeted, the link is just the terms for the offer.

Hi headphonejack I clicked on your link and it says I accepted the offer!

However when I go to my sell page I can't see it listed under my current promotional offer……so I don't think it works.

Oh well worth a shot. Thanks…

        • Yeah same here. Signed in and says accepted offer but nothing shows up. Cheers for the link anyways :)

        • +3

Not in my current promotional offers either, but when I clicked the link it says start date 27/06/2017, so don't give up hope just yet! Check back tomorrow!

        • +1

          @headphonejack:

Noice didn't look at the date hahaha

      • +1

Won't work, you have to sign in.

      • +1

        It says I've accepted it.
When I click the the link again it says I've already accepted the offer so hopefully its there tomorrow.

      • @headphonejack

You are awesome, wish Apple didn't abandon you!

      • Says promotion has expired. I am assuming I wasn't selected??

        • I've had that happen to me before where it says 'promotion expired' when it really should be saying 'Unfortunately this promotional offer is by invitation only.' So yeah, I'd say you're not selected. :(

  • I never get any invites for free listing. I cant remember the last time i sold something on ebay but i'd sell a few things i have laying about if not for the crazy 9% of whatever it is fee they take from tech items.

    • +2

I never get any invites for free listing.

You have to set your account preferences to get emails and offers from eBay.

Just be prepared to cop a bit of spam from them, they'll send you suggestions based on your browsing/search history.

Can get annoying but that's the only way to get these targeted offers.

      crazy 9%

13% including PayPal (which just about everyone pays with) and starting from 1 July it's another 10% GST on eBay fees.

      • Thanks Scab. Ugh. Happy days eh

      • So wait, you basically lose 23% on selling something? That's nuts.

        • No, you lose 13% of the sale price including shipping, then from 1 July 10% increase in eBay fees.

So if you sell something for $100, you have to pay $14.30 (13% of 100 + 10% GST).

        • @Scab: Cool, gotcha. I thought the GST would be on the total sale amount, i.e. 10% of $100.

        • +2

          @cnut:

I think I've met you before, do you have a brother named papple?

He looks a bit jaundiced and has bad acne.

  • Got this as well, would've liked the $20 no min spend though, cause I hardly sell stuff on ebay. But guess theres motivation to sell unused stuff now

  • Got this too, have a few expensive items to sell!

  • +3

Just a reminder the this promotion starts tomorrow 27th June … so don't start listing until tomorrow otherwise you will be up for the full amount on the final value fee

    • +1

Haha I'm the opposite, I accept the offer but get really lazy taking photos and creating the ad until pretty much the last minute

    • Thanks, I've edited it.

Not sure what happened, I originally put the 27th as the starting date.

    • No mention of the 27th for me?

"The promotion runs for 10 days, from the date we send you the first invitation email to participate in this offer until the end date specified in the invitation email ('Promotion Period')."

  • Does it apply for items you are already selling?

    • +1

No unfortunately … only for newly listed items starting tomorrow - but you also need to have received the offer

      • Was it an email?

        • Yes an email, but click the link on this ozbargain post and see if you have the option to take up the offer

  • I always get this promo, I only ever sell when I get it too

    • This is the perfect time to take up the offer, given next month is the extra netflix tax and so ebay fees will cost you more …. I've saved heaps of money with such offers!

      • I thought that was delayed until next year? :S

        • +1

          That's the online purchasing tax

  • The only targeted eBay offer I've received.. finally :)

  • Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only. Shame.

  • I got one last week for the items. Fortunately I had 3 high value items ready and waiting.

  • So eBay will waive the 9% but you still have to pay the PayPal fees?

  • I finally received this offer… but I'm leaving for the UK in 3 days and will return well after the offer expires… :(

    • Put in a 60 day listing or whatever the maximum length is.

      • They have Good Til Cancelled listings these days, and you can enable the holiday mode to say when you get back.

Edit: Holiday mode may be a store feature, take a look at the maximum value for postage handling time.

  • +1

eBay have kindly offered to allow me to list for free, but still charge me final valuation fees.

    Thanks eBay.

  • +1

    No Insertion

The insertion comes when your item sells…

    • You definitely have to bite down on something when that FVF bill comes

  • Got it on 2/4 accounts.

  • Didn't get an invite :(

  • I have never ever got a targeted offer

  • Just a heads up, looks like the expiry date for the promo has been extended from 1st July until the 6th.

Check your promotions section of your eBay page.

  • I thought it said "no IVF." I was confused.

    • +1

It's not that kind of insertion

  • Hi, can anyone advise how you check if your ebay account has the promo offer or not? I'm going through seller account etc but cant find anything related to promo offers (nor a link)

    • These offers are targeted, you have to allow email promotions from eBay via your account preferences.

Once you get the email you can accept the offer and it will appear on your account landing page under "Promotional Offers" at the bottom.

  • Does the offer apply to a listing of 10 identical items?

  • I must be really tired. When I glanced at the title I could have sworn it read "No insertion/IVF" and I immediately thought:

    1) How is that possible? and
    2) How is that free? I thought the procedure was quite pricey ($3000+)

    • I can do it for free.

  • Good work eBay, thanks for the free final value fee listings. As a result you got my Paypal account limited and not I can't withdrawal some of my funds.

    • What happened?

  • Because of increased sales due to the free fvf listings, they are now asking for ridiculous things like the following:

    ■ Estimate the monthly sales volume for the next 6 months.

    ■ Provide copies of the original bills of sale or sales invoices referencing your purchase or acquisition of the items you are selling.

    ■ Provide the following contact information of your supplier(s):
        - Company Name
        - Company Phone Number
        - Contact Person's Name and Contact information
        - Company's address and website

You can submit either a copy of your supplier's name card or upload a screenshot of a text file that displays this information on your screen.

    ■  Please provide us with details of your inventory management:
    -       Description about your Inventory Management model.
    -       Do you have items in stock, ready for sales? If you don't, how much time do you usually need to prepare your stock?
    -       The percentage of your stock (dollar amount) vs. your revenue (dollar amount), and the sales prediction for the amount of stock that you currently have.
    -       How do you manage and prepare your stock with your supplier(s), such as your stock cycles, quantities and etc.?
To be sure that the copy you submit is clear and legible, please scan, or take a digital photo of your original document.

And to top it off, I have 28 days to resolve this before my account becomes restricted.

    • WTH?

Seems like they think you're dodgy.

  • I've had my ebay/paypal account opened for 14 years, never had a negative on ebay over 600+ feedback nor had any issues with Paypal. Just a word of caution for others, this could happen to you.

  • All good, they re-instated my account. They must of seen this post lol.

    • +1

I don't want to brag, but I had a word to them.
