Was just about to hit "buy it now" but realized there's no inbuilt floppy.

    • me too, only realise it is missing B28

  • is this touch or not? OP states touch but I can't see anything about touch on the listing…?

  • @denlife No it's not a 2-in-1 mate. That was a typo. Fixed :)

    • thanks. I am pretty damn close to buying this. I would like a touch screen but can forgive it for the better battery life I suppose. I've been looking at XPS 13 or 15, but this thing seems like a good fit for my needs. Hmmm decisions…

      • I couldn't see any great deals for XPS 13 (max 15%) and almost always $2500+ for 16GB/512GB/i7 setup. Agreed it's touch but to me it's more of a gimmick than actively used feature as I own an iPad for that (maybe not same case for everyone). Coming to XPS15 I don't find it portable/mobile enough. Hence zeroed on this one. Damn good reviews all over as well! Hope that helps :)

I've got touch on my Spectre x360 and never use it.

  • Serious question here - is there a technical (or otherwise) reason why laptops in this day and age don't go any higher than HD or 2MP webcams? AFAIK, only Alienware laptops do 2MP ones.

The image it takes is really only ever going to be shown on a computer screen or broadcast online.
HD or 2.1MP is all that's needed for a decent computer screen. When 4k screens become commonplace, 8MP webcams will roll out.
The only reason you go higher is for printing and who prints images captured via webcam?

What are the real life battery of these ultra books that always quote 15 hour battery lifes etc? I mean for the average preson who loads up their laptop, chucks on some music, browses the web while maybe having an office application or some other personal app or work going - with average medium to decent brightness and what not: will you actually get close to 15 hours? or is this one of those 15 hours in test, but 5, 6 hours IRL usage? Just curious as the old netbooks that came out used to quote 9-12 hours and i'd get liek 4 hrs something max on average settings you'd use normally, which was disappointing. Hopefully things have come a way.

Am also curious - Lenovo has been flooding the aus market, particularly jb hi fi catologues haha - how is the quality now that it is run by the chinese? From memory the chinese bought lenovo off IBM correct? Or is it IBM bought and lenovo is one of the branded laptops produced? ALot of their laptps seem average to decent priced but for decent specs when you compare to other 'branded' expensive laptops. Just curous when lookin at something like this: whether it would last in terms of quality to the likes of branded higher end asus, fujitsu, samsung etc. laptops? Or can they hold their own these days?

    • Chinese build quality is pretty damn good now a days when it comes to high end like this.

There are loads of great reviews of this laptop.

  • This is pretty comparable to Dell's XPS line except Dell has an outlet which can see similar spec'd older gen for much cheaper. It's not uncommon to find an XPS15 for under this price so, from a wallet perspective, not sure why I would go this over Dell outlet.

    • Depends how much you care for portability as that's the key difference with let's say XPS15. It's significantly lighter, has far better battery life, 4G LTE etc.

13" MBP from Myer eBay was a better deal

This is one of the beast, best-in-class keyboard, very good battery life (9+hrs browsing+youtube with 40% brightness from my own experience with i5 kabylake model) and 3 years depot warranty included (if you lookup model number on lenovo support or shoppingexpress website). Metal unibody on mbp or dell xps may slightly better overall but this one is lighter yet still durable/high quality. 4G LTE and full size hdmi just sweeten the deal.

  • I only wish it's a 4 core

    • Me too, minesweeper simply need that performance

  • is the seller, Futu, any good?

$1615 Asus notebook with same specs (i7, 8gb ram, 512gb ssd) but also with dedicated gpu 940mx 2gb

No thunderbolts though, just regular usb c

    • From what I have read about that laptop, it gets very loud and hot. Do you have this one? Any feedback?

    • also no 4G LTE - that's what makes this particular model so expensive

  • Same configuration on Lenovo's website is $2.5k so this is a steal!
