JUCY Car Hire Ski4Free Deal at Hotham (VIC) and Treble Cone (NZ)

80

JUCY camper/car hire Ski4Free deal is back at Hotham!

Hire your wheels with JUCY and score up to six consecutive days of FREE skiing at Hotham.

You'll receive one free adult day lift pass to Hotham ski field for each day the vehicle is hired!

This offer is valid for all JUCY Australia bookings made for travel between 10 June – 1 October 2017.

I think they should have Jucy at Albury Airport to make this deal better. On the other hand…piss rings in a high elevation gravel car park.

Also at Treble Cone (NZ)

  • That's an awesome deal… effectively a half price lift ticket with a free car to get you there!

  • Why do they require you to have a second person with you when you collect the vehicle?

    • in case the person hogtied in the boot tries to get away.

    • +1

Jucy are not much better than those Wicked campers so it probably so you have someone to push the vehicle when it breaks down.

  • Some campgrounds in Alpine National Park were free : http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/explore/parks/alpine-national-park…

I am trying to find out if it is worth getting the condo-camper to free camp.

    • All camp sites are free except for the ones along falls to hotham alpine crossing. You wont be doing that while skiing at hotham.

There is only one convenient place to camp if you want to ski at hotham. That is JB Plains campground. It is between Hotham and Dinner Plains. There is a car park and the camp ground is only a stone throw away from it. (depending on how many people are at the site)
So it is almost like car camping.

There is one firepit and a drop toilet.

Forget about using the drop toilet in winter. Snow camping is an interesting experiance, some even say fun. However it is not for the unprepared.

      • Thanks BuyotheCat, I camped at Saw pit creek in Kosciusko NP near perisher in a station wagon + hot water bottle and sleeping bag.

This number looks OK . https://www.jucy.com.au/our-vehicles/jucy-campas/jucy-condo/

        • Looks more comfy that a bare station wagon. For clarification, it will be free if you car camp at JB plains. Dinner plains can be your stop for food and emergency groceries.

I might also recommend driving there from Bainsdale -> omeo -> dinner plains -> hotham. it is longer but potentially safe in bad conditions.

For water, there is a pipe that snow melt water gushes out of. The pipe is located by the road near the unused toll booth between dinner plains and hotham.

        • @BuyoTheCat:

I looked into this last year and from my research you weren't allowed to put a camper in the carpark at Jb Hut? (ie you had to physically put your camping structure/ tent away from the road)? And you can only get there on foot.

Also, don't forget it's $47 per day to enter Hotham. Plus chain hire and insurance cover (if u don't have credit card cover). Catching the public transport bus + staying in a lodge may be cheaper.

Lastly, Jucy condos will need mains power to charge the aux battery every 2nd day (Harrietville?), the toilet cartridge needs to be emptied (long drop?) and gas stove refilled / replace butane at the end. Cars were fine, but check for chain damage to wheel arches before you take it.

        • Did you end up taking the condo to Hotham? How did it go?

  • This is great, have a Hotham trip planned in 3 weeks for 1 week. Might as well save my car some k' s and rent one.
