India Gate Basmati rice 5 kg $13 @ Coles

$1 more than Costco if compared on a 5 kg
and I think 'exotic' is usually expensive than Premium.

It's from Shropshire
They only employ left-handers…

That is 'Sella' which, I've read, is 2nd rate at best.

In any case, 'Exotic' isn't much better according to this:

Best buy 'Classic' at Costco or 'Premium' if you can get a good price.
Much better bargain is Sunrice Aromatic Basmati Rice 5kg on special for $9.00 save $10.80
https://shop.coles.com.au/a/a-national/product/sunrice-aroma…
Sunrice is terrible
It's not up to that standard (rice snob, sorry)
It's the best at that price point. Not as good as top basmati rice, though.
I like their medium white and brown and eat it everyday for lunch.
Grown by Australian farmers, which I prefer.
Wasting huge amounts of water.
Why support Australian farmers? Indian farmers are desperately poor and need support. Who cares what passport they carry.
@tightwad: I think the production and processing standards are better in Australia than 3rd world countries.
How much does the Indian farmer get from selling their rice to a rice mill? Probably bugger all. India is also heavily polluted and that water is used to grow rice. I feel sorry for Indian rice farmers but I am not willing to risk my health. I also try to avoid eating at places which use chinese produced ingredients.

Never travel mate
Will just hit maccas, problem solved.
That's not traveling. May as well stay home.
Well, I don't go to bangkok for the temples or the food.
Sex tourism?
Sella rice normally referred to brown rice and parboiled.
health benefits of Sella rice: (thanks - quora)
•Parboiled rice is better than regular rice as it usually goes through a process where the starch gets stabilized•
•Parboiled by the volume (1 cup for example) has less calories, but it is because parboiled rice is slightly puffed and weighs less for its size.
•Rice is wonderful in treating diarrhea in children.
•Being low in fiber is extremely soothing to the digestive system.
Not worthy of a neg, but this is pretty much the same as any cheap/no-name basmati. For consistently long grains that hold shape and a much better aged flavour, get India Gate Classic or Premium.
It was posted much cheaper before, almost half the price as someone posted
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/302406
As everyone else posted, the other India GAte is better i.e. Classic.
that's only in a small shop in Brisbane, while this is Nationwide.
The question is that if a small shop in Brisbane can sell it that cheap, Coles with their massive buying power should be able to source it much cheaper.
How does Classic compare with Premium? Has anyone tried both?
Classic is better but expensive.
Better in what way though? Flavour? Fragrance?
Overall a better rice. Much longer grain and fragrance.
Thanks.
Woolworths has exotic 5kg for $11.99 and Sella for $12.99
However not available at all stores.
Classic is only $12 for 5 Kg in 20Kg bags in Costco.
