$20 off First Ride - Rydo

230
GMCABSTAXI

I don't normally take cabs but used one recently and on the bottom of the receipt it offers $20 off first ride with the app Rydo.

Downloaded app, signed up and added credit card to receive credit. Haven't used it yet and not sure if it expires but appears to have been applied.

Edit: received an email after signup (used the promo code in the signup process..) suggesting to use the code 'TAXI' for the same $20 first ride discount but as expected it won't allow you to double up with both.

  • Welcome to OzBargain!

  • Interesting, might be handy for trips from the airport to lock in a price. Amazing how the price can vary 50% for the same journey

It shouldn't vary that much if they're using the meter and it's the same time of day.

yeah, if you like companies that disregard laws, don't pay tax, are immoral and don't give a toss about other people's rights…

How do you fire them? They're not employees.

        • @jv: Implement autonomous cars.

Well I just heard on the news that Uber drivers are planning more protests and disruptions. They don't like they way the company is screwing them.

Never driven one, but always use them to get to the airport and back.

  • Thanks! I never catch taxis in Australia (except when Uber covered my entire $50 fare) but it's good to know anyway.

I never used my GoCatch credit since I still trusted the bus more for an early morning flight (which I should know is ridiculous from experience).

Interesting. The app is owned by GM Cabs in Sydney but they claim it works nationwide. Would be interesting to see experiences.

    • Should work fine so long as a Sydney GM Cab has just dropped someone off in your area. You could always open the app and have a look if any cabs show up on the map.

Yeah I just used it and it was surprisingly good..
I had a chat to the driver….thee are two companies GM cabs and GM payments…apparently the jobs are delivered via the payment terminal…of which they have 15000 across all taxi companies….the cab I had was a Silver Service….nice to have a professionla driver for a change I am getting a bit sick of squinting for a dirty Corolla:)

    $20 off…bargain!

  • Anyone know if your first fare is less than $20, you only use the portion of the $20 off and can use up the remaining in future trips or does it take the full $20 off?

    Cheers
