Your title and description tell your fellow OzBargain members nothing whatsoever about Z-Wave products. We come here for bargains, not your eponymous website.

    • -2

This is ozbargain not ozeducation - if you don't know what a product is look it up.

      • +1

It also isn't OzAdvertisement, so where is the bargain

        • Associated OP's status is Online Now so perhaps we will soon see some prices in the description area.

      • I wasn't seeking another Ph.D., just some idea of what OP is selling. I'm sorry that's not good enough for you.

    • +1

Z-Wave is a wireless home automation technology that allows you to control household appliances and lighting - making your home a connected and intelligent smart home.

      • Thank you. Adding that to your description would be helpful to Z-Wave virgins like myself. And maybe a sentence about Australian frequencies please.

  • Any prices? We like to see prices.

  • Can confirm that this is some of the cheapest Oz shipped z-wave gear around even before the 10% discount.
I've bought from them before and their service is also excellent.

Capital smart homes sometimes have cheaper prices on aeotec with their 15% discounts like this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/301651 but the compatibility and quality of aeotec is generally not as good as fibaro products.

    Lower prices elsewhere:-

    http://www.smarthome.com.au/vera-edge-z-wave-controller.html
    $269.00 - 10% code EASTER17 = $242.10 + Shipping $10.00 = $252.10

    ~$184.46 Free Standard International Shipping

    • Whilst I don't disagree that there may be better prices, it is important to note that your example is not like for like.

The eBay item you linked to is for the US frequency version which is not compatible with any Australian Zwave devices as they use different frequencies.

Unfortunately most US Zwave gear is cheaper than the Australian taxed versions.

    • This device is available for the following frequencies :

      • 868.4 Mhz (Europe, China, Singapore, South Africa, United Arab Emirates)

Sorry not an Australian version - cheaper but useless.

I took your own advice and looked it up. On OP's product page it says …

Vera is guaranteed to work with every certified Z-Wave device.

… which I took as true. Frequency and MHz are both unmentioned.

        • You bolded the wrong word.

Vera is guaranteed to work with every certified Z-Wave device.

Certification for Australia covers many things including frequency.

        • @leyton01: You are of course correct. This proves why Associated OP should assist members rather than squeeze out a post and get off the potty without any example bargains or prices or explanations and ignore every question and comment. No wonder there is only 1 plus-vote apart from yourself during 15 hours when most people are not working.

        • DIY home automation is not a simple nor widely understood or standardised system. It takes a lot of research and reading and I don't think it is the OPs job to explain all of it. If you are looking for z-wave stuff (which generally means you know what you are looking for or already have some devices) then this will interest you.

I'm not sure what all the hostility is regarding a % off sale is when this is a fairly common post.

If you look at my above linked post for a similar store and promotion it has even less information than this one but noone complaining
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/301651

Yes it could have included more information such as this post
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/248698 but that is just for one product not an entire range.

Just out of interest the above post has local price comparisons for the vera edge and smarthome is the cheapest before discount of any of those listed.

        • @leyton01:

          DIY home automation

That would fit in the title, but after 16 hours not even that information is imparted by Associated OP. Three words - how much time did OP save?

I'm not sure what all the hostility is …

The description area has a purpose. Curiosity about what a post offers is not hostility.

        • "not your eponymous website" - generally website are named after the company, good business sense really. And if you had bothered to click on the link, which would take less effort than commenting or finding non-equivalent products on ebay, you are presented with the explanation in the very first paragraph:

"Z-Wave is a wireless home automation technology that allows you to control household appliances and lighting - making your home a connected and intelligent smart home."

At least you know more about it now that you have visited multiple home automation websites - good for you.

        • @leyton01:

Z-Wave is a wireless home automation technology that allows you to control household appliances and lighting - making your home a connected and intelligent smart home.

That would have sufficed. By not copying that into the description area, OP must have saved another few seconds.

you have visited multiple home automation websites

I again took your own advice and discovered 2 cheaper items which appear to be Australian stock. Thank you.

        • -1

And you helpfully found a cheaper price for those ozbargainers in Europe, China, Singapore, South Africa and the UAE. Thanks!

        • @PJC: Perhaps a little harsh?! This was our first post ever! Comments taken on board and we will certainly try to improve future posts. Thanks for you feedback.

        • @leyton01: Mainly due to those good folk in Slovenia. I mustn't take all the credit.

        • @leyton01: That refers to Store Rep OP's chosen username being similar to the website's.

    • It should also be noted that SmartHome extends all product warranties by an additional 12 months for free.

      • You may as well add that to your description. Your 'edit' button is between 'view' and 'revisions'.

A few example bargains might also help you sell more product:-

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelin…
        Sales, Catalogues and Stores

        People generally value their time.

If you know there is a good bargain or two in a sale, catalogue or store, it's a good idea to mention one or even two bargains … and provide direct links where possible, to those items.

If there are multiple bargains in the same sale, catalogue or store, it is still advisable to post once only. Then multiple items can be listed in the same posting; probably with what looks to be the best or most popular bargains at the top.

  • Hi all. This was our first post on Ozbargain, so I apologise if it was not as "complete" or "polished" as it should have been. We have taken all comments on board and appreciate the feedback - always learning :)

If anyone has any particular questions, I am more than happy to help.
