Free Changi Dollar Voucher (SGD $20) for Transiting Passengers in Singapore Travelling on SQ, MI or NZ Airlines

920

Offer extended to 31st of March, 2018.

As from website:

Changi Transit Programme
Your transit experience at Changi Airport is now more rewarding! Receive a Changi Dollar Voucher (CDV), valued from S$20, for your shopping and refreshments during your transit in Changi Airport, when you travel on Singapore Airlines, SilkAir or Air New Zealand.

The CDV can be use at all retail, food and service outlets in transit and public areas of Changi Airport (exclusions apply), or can be redeemed for one-time access to the Ambassador Transit Lounge located in the transit areas of Terminals 2 or 3 for up to two (2) hours. The Ambassador Lounge provides shower facilities with basic toiletries, light refreshments, complimentary Wi-Fi, and international reading materials. Passengers can also enjoy other exclusive offers* from the Ambassador Transit Lounge.

· Passengers’ e-ticket numbers must begin with 618 or 629 or 086, and must be travelling on flights operated by Singapore Airlines or SilkAir for both into and out of Changi Airport. Any connecting flight into or out of Changi Airport that is not operated by Singapore Airlines or SilkAir must be operated by Air New Zealand (specifically flight numbers SQ4281, SQ4282, NZ281 or NZ282) or Scoot (specifically flight numbers TZ591 or TZ592).

· Passengers must be on transit in Changi Airport on both legs of their journey, which means Singapore is neither the point of origin nor the end destination. Transit passengers on one-way journey or ticket are not eligible. For example, a passenger whose journey is:

(i)        “London – Singapore – Sydney vv” is eligible;
(ii)       “London – Singapore – London” is not eligible;
(iii) A one-way journey “London – Singapore – Sydney only” is not eligible.

· Passengers must have at least 1 of their transit duration in Changi Airport to be within 24 hours. This is calculated from the Scheduled Time of Arrival (STA) of the arriving flight to Changi Airport to the Scheduled Time of Departure (STD) of the connecting departure flight out of Changi Airport.

· For passengers who are on transit in Changi Airport for only one leg of their journey, it must be a round trip within a single e-ticket where passenger travels by land or sea from Singapore to the next country or vice versa (to show proof), as well as originates and returns to the same country by air via Changi Airport. For example, a passenger whose journey is:

(i)        “Bombay – Singapore, Kuala Lumpur – Singapore – Bombay” AND Singapore – Kuala Lumpur is by land/sea AND in a single e-ticket, is eligible;
(ii)        “Beijing – Singapore, Bangkok – Singapore –Shanghai” AND Singapore – Bangkok is by sea AND in a single e-ticket, is eligible;
(iii)      “Shanghai – Singapore – Perth, Singapore – Shanghai” in a single ticket BUT “Perth – Singapore” is not by sea, is not eligible;
(iv) “New Delhi – Singapore – Kuala Lumpur, Singapore – New Delhi” in different tickets is not eligible.

· Passengers must be above 2 years old at the point of ticket issuance and have their own seat, which means that their seat is not shared with their parent or guardian.

· Passengers can only claim the CDV once, on either leg of their journey, regardless if it was issued over two or more separate e-tickets.

E.g. A passenger who has separate e-tickets issued for his itinerary “London – Singapore – Sydney vv” can collect the CDV either upon his arrival in Singapore from London OR upon his arrival in Singapore back from Sydney.

· Passengers whose transit (through Singapore) itinerary was issued over two or more separate e-tickets must present all e-tickets to the counter staff.

· Passengers without all the necessary documents will not be entertained. Our staff reserves the right to reject the collection for reasons including but not restricted to insufficient supporting documents.

· Passengers travelling on codeshare flights outside of Singapore Airlines, SilkAir and Air New Zealand will not be eligible for this programme.

Programme Terms & Conditions

· The CDV is valid for use till 31 March 2018 and request to replace, extend or refund will not be entertained.

· Passenger can collect the CDV for their current trip only and while stocks last.

· Retrospective collection for past trips or advance collection for future trips will not be entertained.

· Multiple CDVs may be used for payment.

· The CDV may not be used with ongoing in-store promotions.

· The CDV can be used in conjunction with Singapore Airlines Boarding Pass Privileges.

· Changi Airport Group reserves the rights to change these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.

    • So I am flying to Paris (return) and booked through Virgin during the period where they had ridiculously low (error) fares (was on Ozbargain) but I am actually flying with Singapore Airlines all the way from Melb. to Paris (return)

I am trying to figure out if I am eligible for this promo. Unfortunately, I don't know what my e-ticket number is as a quick check on my booking doesn't state this info (that I could see anyway).

Any ideas? or is it just a matter of waiting until I get my boarding pass and checking the ticket number there?

      EDIT: Just saw this:
'Passengers travelling on codeshare flights outside of Singapore Airlines, SilkAir and Air New Zealand will not be eligible for this programme.'

Seeing as I codeshared Singapore through Virgin, I guess it means I'm not eligible. Ah well =(,

      • Yeah not eligible. Did the same journey last month. E-ticket will start with 795.

        • aw, thanks for the confirmation! I purposely gave myself a 7 hour lay over (could have given myself a 4 hour lay over but would have cost more) as I heard the airport is massive with a good deal of things to do, and this free $20 SGD would have definitely helped! Ah well, cant win them all lol =)

        • @eltito: If you have some time it's worth just to visit the counter with your tickets and ask them if you're eligible anyway. Last time I accompanied someone to get it but didn't ask for one myself because I got separate bookings and therefore no good for this, but the counter lady asked to have a look at my tickets anyway and said they're eligible.

        • @eltito: offtopic, but note the airport offers free tours of Singapore!

          Look online, lots of info.
If you're interested on arrival I'd suggest beelining to the booth as the tours are time-limited and first come first served.

We missed out because our layover was 15 minutes too short (strict!), but we have a long layover going home.

Or yeah, train is easy too, I'm just lazy ;)

so much rules and laws for a $20 voucher

    • +4

Singapore, the whole country is like that.

      • +1

        From there. Can confirm.

    • They're giving away at least $20 each time. They had 58m passengers last year - of course they need to have conditions on eligibility.

  • Can you use that to redeem Red Cross ration packs and cigarettes?

    • "*With effect from 1 August 2016, pursuant to Section 9A of the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act (Cap. 309), Changi Dollar Vouchers (CDVs) cannot be used for the purchase of tobacco products in Changi Airport."

  • I got caught with fine print here last time. You must have two interconnecting flights(stopovers) to receive these vouchers. i.e. Interconnect via Singapore on depart and upon return, to be eligible.
eg. I was not eligible when I booked Singapore airlines from ADL to BKK, stopover in Singapore adn singapore airlines all the way, however, my return flight was from Singapore. ie my return did not come from BKK(with singapore stopover) as I flew AirAsia from BKK to Singapore. I was not eligable for these vouchers.

    Best for transiting.
For transit longer than 6 hours and wanting to spend your time outside the airport here is my tip:
    1. take an uber to your destination and get SGD$15 off your first ride, 25mins ride. Cost from airport to city usually SGD$20-30.
    2. tour the city and eat until you are ready to board your next flight.
    3. Make new uber account and repeat step 1 back to the airport.
    4. You should now be drenched in your own sweat. Take the SGD$20 changi voucher to the ambassador lounge, take a shower, have a light refreshment and relax.
    5. Board your flight.

      MRT is like $2

      • +1

In a group of 4 or family, it is cheaper to take uber.
MRT 60 mins changi to bugis vs 20mins taxi.

    • Thanks for the info, I have a 7 hour lay over, I heard the airport is amazing (in airport standards) with a 24h cinema among other stuff. Is it worth staying at the airport or just head to the city?

Also, can I pay to use the ambassador lounge? (Unfortunately, I'm not eligible to get the free $20)

    • Another option is to take a FREE tour of the city organised by Changi airport if your transit is over 5.5 hours: http://www.changiairport.com/en/airport-experience/attractio…

    • Make new uber account and repeat step 1 back to the airport.

Can the existing phone be used? Someone told you can't have that if using same phone

      • Worked for me

  • Will this work if I redeem the flight using points ?

    • It seems to be dependant on the flight stop overs along with the flight number.

My flight on the 29th of July starts with 618 on the e-Ticket.

I'm going from Sydney to Vietnam via Singapore and on the way back stopping in Singapore for 3 days.

One thing i remeber is the place offering the refunds is hard to find, snuck around some dark corner

    • -1

This is a post about a voucher for transit passengers. I think you're talking about something entirely different.

    • +1

You are correct, I simply asked the information desk and they pointed me in the right direction. It was tucked away behind the main shops.

  • Thanks! flying through Changi airport tomorrow on Singapore air, will see if I'm eligible

  • +1

Last time we receive $20 for whatever and $20 for cosmetics. Mind you, the process is long and there are long queues.

    • The last three times I collected the voucher, there was no long queue. I had maybe 2 or 3 people in front of me.

    • +1

I'm with @eug on this one. No queues and the process was pretty simple. We had plenty of time to kill so it wasn't an issue regardless.

      • was about 10 people in front of me last Sep, all up about 15 mins wait.

        • +1

A 15 minute wait for $20 is the equiv to earning $80 singapore dollars per hour. Happy to wait 15 mins…..

  • Flew with the wife n kids last year. $80 of free booze was a cracking deal

  • spent last years $40 on lounge access and booze, top deal. Probably spend the 20 this year on Booze.

  • Would appreciate advice… Have a 2:35 stopover (Syd>Sin>Took) - how much time is there to comfortably 'enjoy/kill' after factoring in getting off/on flights (both Singapore Airlines) ie. Would I be a mad dash to then queue/get the voucher, use it on something, and get to the next terminal?

    • +1

I usually walk it if its a terminal change, takes approx. 20mins. It's a good way to kill time and take a look around. So you would have an easy 2hrs to kill.

  • what about scoot lol.

  • I heard united is offering $800USD for "voluntary" transiting

  • on my way to Singapore tonight from HCMC before heading home tomorrow afternoon.
    Will get this a whirl.

  • You sure it's $20 Singapore dollars? Last time I was there it was $40. Or is that $20 per leg. Ie: On the way over and way back?

I got a couple of really lovely good quality items in duty free, and still had money leftover for a beer and a snack before my flight.

    • it was $40 last year for australian travellers, its now $20.

  • Damn hope they extend this, I fly out on the 6th April :(

  • Where do you collect the voucher from. I am flying tomorrow?

    • +3

Where do you collect the voucher from.

      From here.

      I am flying tomorrow?

      I don't know… are you? :)
