Damn that's cheap. I wonder how much these things cost to produce.

  • Great cooktop. Got it last time it was on sale. Be prepared to grab it when the store opens, won't last long.

Just beware it can cost a lot to install if you don't have the wiring in place. May even need an upgraded feed from the street on an older house.

  • Will need a dedicated 30 amp circuit - so you have to allow for electrical costs for a new circuit

    • someone will just ask how to dyi install it in a few weeks.

Just pm me if you want diy instructions. Mine working fine on 15amp circuit.

Just because it can doesn't mean it should

The Australian Standards allow cooking equipment to be derated by ~50% when circuit sizes are being worked out because rarely is everything used and the circuit already has protection.

        • @Maverick-au: talking about doing your own electrical work

It's legal in pretty much every other country except Australia, we're not that special that our power is any different to the rest of the world.

  • This is seriously a nice stove to cook but as I don't have any electric circuits already in place for such stoves so I better stay away from it -_-

  • schott ceran cooktops are good quality. Personally i find the touch sensitive approach a pain in the arse. Quite happy with my schott ceran glass cooktop with actual knobs haha

SCHOTT CERAN make the glass surface, the rest is put together by a manufacturer so whilst yes they do make good glass products there are differing levels of glass quality and huge differences in the components used for heating and controlling. This is like saying that a car is great because it has Continental tyres.

  • When I got a new stove the sparky wired it up and said it will be ok if I didn't put everything on at once. It has been just fine.

Does Aldi have ovens to match too?

    • Does Aldi have ovens to match too?

Did you click the link? They are listed in the sale.

Not every store has ovens, so you could be driving a fair distance to buy them.

      • Yes, it'd be a shame if they didn't match.

Yes, it'd be a shame if they didn't match.

The cooktop and the oven won't match and neither do they have to, these are some of the cheapest appliances you can buy and no-one is going to turn down buying your house because you have an ALDI cooktop and IKEA oven.

We have a Bosch oven and had a Bosch induction cooktop which I just upgraded to a Siemens induction cooktop. Would it make a difference to a sale of our place? Nope. Does it make a difference to anyone walking in? Nope. Do you notice the difference between a flat piece of glass with a stainless steel trim and a flat piece of glass without? Nope.

@Maverick-au: yep good branded appliances can help sell a property.
