  • Are they currently enforcing the 18-month rule?

  • +3

I recommend that people use the random referral link!!!!!!!!

Absolutely. The new AMEX random referral feature on OzBargain is terrific. Everyone should use it to share the love.

  • Shame amex lounge passes not included.

Much better deals out there currently.

    • Hey spuderdump which are you looking at?

I just missed the NAB which fit the bill for me

      • Anz 50k I think with no annual fee.

        • Yeah just cancelled ANZ black so cant get that one :(

        • @simbot41: Have you got the Explorer yet (or any other AMEX AMEX)?
If not, that's by far the best one to get right now.

  • How many bonus points do you get for a referral?

  • +1

Not a bad deal but this one is arguably better

Although if you don't have any AMEX issued directly by American Express (i.e. one of the ones from amex.com.au), I would not hesitate to recommend the Explorer over any of these cards right now.

That's right. If you are looking at this deal, compare the two.

      In short:

      AMEX Premium Card
      Annual Fee: $249
Sign up bonus: 60K QFF points

      AMEX Ultimate Card
      Annual Fee: $450
Sign up bonus: 75K QFF points + 75 Status Credits
1 free Qantas domestic return flight (flight destinations here: http://www.americanexpress.com/australia/campaigns/qantas/pd…)

In either case, make sure you use the random referral link!

I would place some value on the 2x Qantas Lounge passes and the 2x Sydney Intl Airport AMEX access on the cards though, but I suppose omitting them from both somewhat offsets them.

If I had to choose, I'd place more value on the Qantas lounge passes due to liquidity and ability to turn it into cash.

  • are you allow to bring any1 into the lounge with you? or is the lounge pass just for yourself only?

    • Anyone

      • The lounge passes are for one person only. You cannot bring in a guest. The pass can be used by anyone on a JQ or QF flight, but only one person per pass.

  • Just a note, be careful with credit ratings when cycling cards for points…every application generates an inquiry on the credit file and it stays on there for 5 years

  • I use to have this card years ago. It was a no annual fee for first year deal. Managed to rack up many frequent flyer points (and club passes) without paying a cent. Every year when I called to cancel, they said they would give another year annual fee free, went on for 5 years until they would not do it so was cancelled for good.. Hope they bring the no annual fee again but not holding my breath..
