Is learn trustworthy? And what kind of customer service do they have?

    • +1

I do believe they own by Vodafone

    • +2

Keep in mind, it is only 3G NOT 4G..
I am using it for last 3 weeks & it is always 3G.
      Slow internet, really worthless

      • It's showing 4G+ on Xiaomi Mi5s and only H+ on Xiaomi Redmi note 2 in the same area(Melbourne Metro). I think it depends on the phones. We have been using Lebara for the past 4 months.

      • Can anyone verify this? really dont want to sign up for 6 months of 3G!!

        • its 4G

  • Anyone wanna share their experience with Lebara?

    • Very hard to activate sims. Sometimes i have to wait for the next day to activate. For some reasons, 4G never shows up on my phone ( i had 4G when i was with Kogan), internet is slow if you live in regional areas but in big cities should be fine.

      • thanks for your input

        • Disagree. Very easy to activate (instant) or to port thru online. Very friendly helpful support. Vodafone network. Upto 4G. Good offers all the time.

      • +1

Very easy to activate. Usually took me about ~ 30 mins (twice) so far

  • Better deal than the recent Kogan offers?

    • +4

Works out like $10 cheaper. But if u add $1 14gb for 30days then over 13 months of service kogan actually end up being cheaper. Mind u this has international calls as well if anyone needs that probably a better deal. Kogan is also 365 day access. Lebara is 360.

  • Slightly better than Kogan pricing.

If both Lebara & Kogan are powered by Vodaphone network, how come my new Kogan SIM has such a very poor reception in my area, whereas my old Lebara prepaid has full reception? Is it possible that Kogan could restrict their cheap-ass $1 SIMs in order minimize the data that we, tightarses, would use?

    • My Kogan $1 special works fine… equivalent to the WW telstra $1 sims. Ran it in the car whilst live streaming up the coast about 150k and only had a couple of drop outs in back roads. I do have the Kogan set to 3g that i find very adequate for tethering.

    • If I use data on the phone it is fine leb/kog. If I tether the connection is okayish. It tends to drop at times, lose connection all together or is slow. If I put sim in e5573 Wi-Fi modem, it works flawlessly.

      • Ur phone is probably the problem.

        • Maybe, but it wasn't just on 1 phone. This only happens when tethering, otherwise if I just browse internet on the phone or put sim in Wi-Fi modem, everything is fine.

How to port my existing amaysim number to lebara??

  • pretty good deal.

  • +3

    Awww wwww nuts

Been a lebara user for a few years.
Been tempted by Kogan didn't act.

    Just purchased Kogan last week
And now lebara bring out the best deal they've had.

    Damn
I have the worst timing evee

    • +1

I wonder what will you say when a better deal comes next week :P

      • honestly if the deals were similar I would have stayed eg 7gb vs 8gb or even 7gb vs 5gb, however the kogan deal was so much better, 10gb for $23 VS 5gb for $30

        such a pity :(

however if kogan offered me a refund id happily stick with lebara,

        I can show loyalty!

    • It's a better deal if u value international calls otherwise it's actually more expensive if u factor SIM card cost and kogan $1 month access deal

  • Hi, OP. Is it postpaid or prepaid?

    • Pure prepaid

    +1 from serial porter..

  • How long do you have to use the voucher before it expires?

  • Any tecommendation for one on a optus network? The coverage for vodafone at my place is bad

    • Yes but expect to pay double for same allowances

  • 1 extra byte = 1 MB everytime you use internet.

Lebara is worse, had it for few months before realising thay are useless.

    • Are you sure mate? I believe that was 2 years back like all other operators!

    • No, it's KB.

  • I had lebara for a month in Melbourne and it was great, now on aldi and i find the data coverage was better on the train with lebara than aldi, surprising i know

  • When will the voucher expire ?
I might want to buy the Starter for 14.90 to try. If its good i'll recharge for 360 days

  • No problems here with Lebara in Melbum

  • +1

Bloody hell!I bought kogan for husband already but now regret it :( He is with Lebara and is fantastic, such a shame offer has arrived 2/days later :( Very annoyed now

    • Same, but I'm still waiting for the sim to arrive. I hope reception is legit.

      • I am trying to cancel kogan, because husband is with Lebara and service has been faultless. Also you get a bit of money to call abroad which kogan does not offer. If I manage to cancel I will get the 12 months service with Lebara. I am still waiting for Kogan's sim and voucher is not activated

        • Let us know how you go with cancellation process… i am in the same boat.

  • Outthere when does this deal expire thanks, having trouble recharging keeps asking for my address.

  • weird, all these posts saying 3G only etc, I have lebara $5 starter sims in two different phones and am getting FULL 4G speed almost all the time. Regional Queensland, different spots around the Sunshine Coast hinterland. I did a speedtest and got 34.5Mbps down and 21Mbps up on the mobile data connection just late this afternoon.. one phone is a Huawei Y6 from recent deal and other is Redmi Note 3 International, both band 28 700MHz phones if that has anything to do with it..

    • Yeah I also want clarification on this- I just askdd Lebara on Live Chat, and they say it is 4G.

  • UPTO 250 international min, how do you find out the amount for given country ? … could not find that info ? Does anybody know

      • This doesn't really define wots included in 250mins for 360 day offer.

Based on below u get $5 credit a month to call international destination. What "selected" countries are… who knows. I'm guessing USA U.K. NZ and probably a few other main ones and that's it.

        Every 30 days receive:
        Unlimited standard National Talk, Text and MMS plus 5GB Data;
$5 international call credit giving you up to 250 standard call minutes to selected countries.
That's a total of up to 60GB of data and up to 3000 international call minutes to selected countries across the life of your recharge.

        • I'd say it's up to 250 mins to these places but you get the minutes upfront, not in one month.

Is there international roaming? If there is, this is a big plus over Kogan

    • +1

Currently, Lebara Australia SIMs do not support International Roaming to make calls from overseas to Australia. However, if you have a smart phone, you can use 3rd-party international calling apps through accessible WiFi networks to make calls whilst you are overseas. Or if you are travelling to a country that has a local Lebara Mobile operation, you can pick up a Lebara SIM from there.

  • Can u call any landline and any carrier mobile free and 1300 or 1800 free?

    Ta

    • Sure that you can

  • Is the data charged per kb or mb?

  • Is Anybody have an idea about expiry date of voucher?

  • Has anyone got their code yet?

  • I ordered this and was waiting for a sim card to arrive.
After speaking with customer support they said no sim card has been sent, i apparently need to get one myself from a retail store. This is just a voucher for an existing service.

    • It also applies to new customers. I've ordered mine on Sunday, they said the sim card has been shipped on Monday and expected delivery time is within 5 days.

  • OP's should make it more clear these are basically pre-paid 12 month contracts no matter how you look at them. You can't change to another provider when a cheaper one comes along….

    I'm surprised this deal isn't more popular…

    • Price per GB is the cheapest around

    Am I missing something?

  • $0.07 per mb if you go over. I recently switched due to this as i started using more and more data. $70/gb no thanks.

    • You can't go over unless you have main balance credit.

      • Oh really? That would have been handy to know before I switched. Oh well.

  • Does anyone know if they can be stacked? (use two vouchers for two years)

  • $16.58 / 5GB ($199 upfront, Was $300)
    $18.17 / 5GB ($109 upfront, Was $160)

I am lost here. What do the two different prices mean in this deal? Are there two plans here, or just one?

    • First is for 12 months and second for 6 months.

      • Yeah, I've just realized after visiting the Lebara link. OP didn't mention it so I was confused. Ta

  • Pulled the trigger on a 6-month starter pack. Fingers crossed that the reception won't be as bad as Kogan's in my area.

  • okay have it setup on an import lg g3 D850 AT&T, reception for mobile seems really good with 4-5 bars in Bris but can only connect via edge. I am assuming this might be something odd with this particular version of phone. What cheap phones would people recommend that are confirmed to work with 4g on this network? Any xiomies or motorolas?

I have tried accessing hidden menus on phone and enabling LTE but it just errors.

  • Merged from Lebara Mobile (Vodafone 4G) Unlimited + 5GB + $5 IDD Credit for $203.90 ($15.70 Per Month for 13 Months)

Including Unlimited National Calls, upto 250min IDD($5 Credit) and Unlimited SMS/MMS.

    Works out to be:

    $15.70 / 5GB ($203.90 upfront, Was $329.90)

Equivalent per 30 days, when you pay upfront.
    how to:
buy $199 recharge for 12 months and $4.90 stater pack together

    • Seems cheap

    • Hmmm. Certainly gives my ~$30 exetel plan 2-3 runs for it's money.

    • +1

Almost similar priced as Kogan which uses Vodafone as well. This one includes international calls which is good over kogan and a little cheaper.
      Good price.

Edit: Isnt this only for new customers, so if you have got the starter pack for $4.90, you wont be able to use it. Buying this will give you sim as well.

      • Isn't the Kogan 5GB plan $99 more expensive?

        • Search here. There is another deal for 209.99 and you can get 10 dollar referral for new account.

      • Doesn't Kogan use Telstra?

        • +1

Not since 2013, they used Telstra 3G but that fell through. Kogan Mobile relaunched in 2015 with Vodafone 4G.

    • When does the sim + recharge expire? I want to wait out for my recharge to expire first.

    • can i buy this now and activate it in june or july?

    • +1

Can I buy now and activate next Jan?

      • Ruslan will give us a better deal by then surely?

    • +1

      Isn't this a repost of this? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/297262

      • Yes and No.. this one has the Starter Pack..( better value for new customers get an extra 30 days for $4.90 ) the one you posted is for existing customers.
but in essence it is the same deal.

      • Deal has been merged, it was a combination of this deal and the $4.90 starter pack deal.

        Thanks

        • Your are a genius. Can I do that as well?

  • 6 month recharge is now $119…

  • EDIT: I got the email :-)

How long does it take to get the voucher? I made the payment and am still waiting for the voucher. It has been like half a day.

  • Anyone know, how long we can wait before activating this? My contract ends in June middle.

I called their support, they said 60 days it is valid but not seems confident and no recording or anything to support.

    • +1

The other customer support told me before 30/June, not confident at all.
On the website only the starter sim pack says 60 days.

      • so the plan date will start from the day you activate your sim, not the day you paid for the sim. Is that right?

        • Hi There, yes that is correct and the SIM should be activated within 90 days from the date of purchase. Thank you.

        • @Outthere: Thanks for the reply. just one more question.

before activating the sim, if I want to change the to the plan that is currently available, can Lebara transfer the sim to the new plan before activating. Thanks.

        • @racetolive: Hi There, you can still activate the SIM and once it has been activated please contact our customer care team who can help you in adjusting the plan. If there is anything outstanding that will need to be paid, you can either pay the balance or recharge your main balance with the outstanding amount and we can deduct it from there at the time of adjustment. Hope this answers your question. Thank you

        • @Outthere: Thanks again. appreciate your help. Have a great weekend. :)
