    Only if you need motion-detected video. If you just want to use it just to monitor, or as a pet or baby monitor, it's free.

    Interestingly, the plans page says everything is free. Must be an error on their site.

    You can get a low-res stream directly from the camera.

    More tech info here, including converting it to a regular ip camera. But if you want to run it as a regular ip camera… a regular ip camera would be easier!

        None. I said easier, not cheaper or the same price. :)

        An alternative to this would be the XiaoFang. Full HD too.

        Regular ip cameras would start around $17 more.

        The XiaoYi ones can do rtsp streaming if you install an older firmware.

    New firmware updates have been released in November 2015 and earlier this month and further patches are currently being rolled out to customers cameras via an automated update process. It is Context's understanding that version 01.19.26 addresses critical issues.
