SIM card must be activated within 18 months of purchase

10 out 12 sims we received have an expiry date of "03 OCT 2017". Seemed like a good deal at first, but looks like it's turning into another headache.

Looking at comments from the other deal this doesn't seem to be an isolated incident.

The SIM card deal obviously sucked for you, but is that sufficient reason to neg a deal that gives 10% off all goods.

Yes, at least based on my understanding of the voting guidelines and with Boost mentioned in title it makes it all the more relevant.

        Negative Vote

        Purpose:
To let others know about issues with the deal, merchant or product.

          @easternculture:

It's not their fault when they're providing you referral credit, yea?

They do have a responsibility that we actually get what we're paying for.

      HUH???

  • Thanks OP. Bought one.

That's crap considering the deal says activate with in 18 month…

    • Just curious why is that a problem? Did you intend to / will you even remember to use the Sim after 18months of initial purchase?

There's a number of us who switch between carriers every month because the starter packs are cheaper than the monthly fee. We usually plan ahead by keeping some in reserve, which makes the expiry date an important factor when buying them.

  • What is the benefit of having so many sim starter packs lol?

    • I change service provider monthly by using different starter packs - optus, voda, telstra, optus, voda, telstra …

Usually it's easy to get starter pack for 10aud to 15aud in the supermarket, so every year I only spend 120aud to 180aud on telecom, can save around 200aud if on a 30aud monthly recharge.

      • Do you change contact numbers or number forward every month because of this?

        • No, you cane port your number between carriers.

        • I keep my existing number all the time by porting in.

      • That's alot of work for a bargain I'm on tpg mobile at the moment.

        • Not really considering you can usual get your money back with Telstra sim. So I average $5 a month with unlimited calls text and some data. A lot cheaper than any plan you can get out there.

  • Also look out for Groupon only applying the discount to the first item if buying multiple items. I got stung last deal as I was in a hurry and didn't notice until I finished checking out.

I bought 3 items in 3 transactions by applying 3 times of code.

      • Yep, that's the workaround. I didn't notice until too late.
