Are discount coupons on OzBargain considered spam now? :/

      • Are price increases on OzBargain considered discounts now?
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4451376/redir

        • That was the promotional price at the time. Even still if you include this discount, it comes under the cost of that deal by $200

        • @pisoj1: The price has risen from December's $3200 to $3500. That is a price increase.

        • @PJC:

The price in December was lowered from $3500 to $3200 for a short period of time. It was an intro price to the market, it's not an exact product, it's a course offering we are seeing what our course is worth on the market mate.

Wasn't it $3200 last time (for the course, Cert III, and Phantom 3)? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/285226

15% off that would be $2720.

That was our promotional price before the new year. The standard cost of the package is $3500. (Was thinking it was $3600) my mistake…So with the discount it comes to $2975.

We do maintain that we offer the cheapest RePL in the country. If you find someone offering it for less, please do let us know!

      • Righto, just checking the maths. Thanks for the clarification and update.

    • That was months ago… Also, if 15% off isn't enough, wait until the 90% off deal comes in…
Of course the original price will be $34,990…lol

No, jks jks, looks like a good site and beats having to 'enquire' about the pricing as with other places - kills off my interest quick at that stage!

At the time we didn't have a store, so the prices were just updated on the webpage accordingly. The $3200 was our promo price when introducing it. The standard price is $3500.

It breaks down pretty well though with the 15% off.. under 3k…
        Drone is worth easily ~$650-700
Looking at other RePL trainers, the cheapest we've seen is around $2000-$2200.
So that there alone is around $2700.

But we also throw in the Cert 3. :)

If anyone has children going through high school with some interest in photography or videography, consider the fact the Cert 3 is worth 6 points towards their QCE!

        • Yes, it is great that pricing is transparent. Lots of good options for the drone people amongst us :)

          I have a Phantom 4 Pro :)

          @hell0:

They're lovely aren't they! We've got two of them. :)

We've got a DJI Matrice 600, mannn you should see that thing fly! Looks like something out of star wars when it lifts up!

no offense to you op, I really think this RePL course fees are a plain rip off. I was hoping the exorbitant fees would be lowered given CASA became lenient but hasn't seen much of a drop, if you ask me, it's a monopoly of a market and prices are heavily overstated. That being said, your deals looks to be the cheapest currently available.

I sort of agree with you enzioFirenze. The trouble is, there isn't enough demand to have costs lowered across the board. It's a 4 day course, people need to get paid for the training. If you maybe had 10 students every time you ran a class, then sure, it could be a lot cheaper. But sadly, that's not the case. I find it crazy that some schools charge close to $4000 for the course! Now that's when you know it's a rip off!

While CASA has become more lenient for hobby flying, if you want to do it professionally, you'll need a license without a doubt. You wont get insured otherwise. Also, any pro, really wont be using a phantom, they're great bloody drones but they don't have the quality you would want for a professional job.

Quite honestly though, I strong believe CASA is going to be changing commercial use over the next few years. It's going to get a lot more regulated and everything will tighten down more and more. I truly hope that once you become properly licensed that you get more privilege as to what you can do with them. This is a huge industry that is easily tied up in so much regulation that it's crazy!

We however at Ace Aviation are going to try and create as many jobs as we can in the industry. We're partnering with all sorts of companies to provide freelance work here and there. And soon we will be launching a national network of drone pilots for hire.

Do you offer a class on flying in stealth mode? I just wanna be able to pick up some sausages from Bunnings.

    • +1

We truly need a snag delivery network in Australia. Please help us grow one!

  • Huh? You need training to fly DJI Drone? I thought they are easy to fly (thus the high price)

    • You do not need training. You can fly any drone under 2kg commercially now under CASA laws. (So the phantoms) however if you want to actually do it professionally you'll have a hard time finding jobs without your RePL (Remote Pilot licence) due to insurance issues and not to mention why would someone hire a non licenced pilot to a licensed one.
