not really a freebie…..you lose it after a month unless you pay…it's just a free trial really….
Maybe you could put the three prices in after the trial it seems like a really good idea especially for self employed people…

I'm just wondering if this is even a good idea. you send your reciepts to them and they store them for a month, if you decide not to continue do they send your reciepts back?
You should ask them but i'm sure they would.

We do not promote the free do-it-yourself plan in Australia, as we believe it confuses most people. It is designed for eBay and Amazon style e-commerce receipts and does not include human verification of the documents. However, if you take us up on the 30 day free trial the account will revert to the free service after the 30 days have expired. Note that you do not have to provide a credit card to participate in the free trial, just your street address so we can send the envelope to you.
If you would prefer to go straight to the DIY plan, you can sign up via the US site, or via our free iPhone app.

This whole concept scream of privacy issues to me.
NOW WAY I'm sending off all my receipts and invoices and purchase history to some random company.
Once they have this, and a few other pieces of easily obtainable information about you… It's off to the races, Identity Theft Style…If this service/feature is useful to you then you can buy dedicated scanners/software packages that will do this for you in the privacy and security of your own home. Or if that's not practicable, then get your accountant to mange this. Please don't send your personal information off to some website.

@timjohns While we are new to Australia, we've been running for 4 years in the USA. Shoeboxed Australia is an Australian proprietary limited company and subject to local legislation including the Privacy and Corporations Acts. If you are so minded, you can get details of our directors from ASIC. There's a good business in offering a legitimate service and we would be pretty silly to ruin that by acting like a spammer or phisher and conducting identity fraud.
I should also point out that it will be very difficult for an individual or small business to meet the requirements of ATO Ruling 2005/9 on electronic records if doing the scanning themselves. That's something we can do as an independent third party - and we do it at a very reasonable cost.

I'm trying to find out the benefit of this service to me…is it only for doing your taxes efficiently? How is this different to me entering all my receipts into an Excel spreadsheet? Are they offering financial services as well? confused
