    jv,

what rubbish - ok so would you like me to explain and do the math for you?

RRP is the price RECOMMENDED by the Manufacturer. Not what other sites may or may not hav it on sale for.

The CHEAPEST of the links you have given (and are in stock - not just an inactive feed from Ingram) is:

120 + shipping for the 9 inch DVD player (shopping square)
110 + shipping for the Portable TV (crazy sales)

    Therefore the best price you can get is 120 + 10 + 110 + 8 = $248.00

    Ours is 199 DELIVERED.

    Hope that helps clarify.

    ODS.

    • nice comeback!

your link says save 42% which is the 'rubbish' part…

      • +1

        from RRP… thats a fair statement…!

they cant help the RRP, there deal is better than anyone elses… fair deal. so save 20%!

    • +3

Good point ODS. However, many retailers fail to grasp this simple fact:

For well-established brand goods where almost every retailers sell close to the RRP (at their initial release at least), it's advantageous to quote the RRP when a good discount is given.

Whereas for products of lesser brands, the RRPs are almost always hugely inflated and no retailer would be foolish enough to sell them at anywhere near those prices. Hence, quoting these meaningless RRPs has a Negative effect on most consumers.

In such cases, it would be better to say something along the line of "current cheapest price on-line $$$, our price $$, saving $"

Ahh, the sweet voice of reason…

      • man your dreaming, sorry! but this is a retailer, the rep… to be professional you always quote RRP…

something as simple as cheapest online would be more than normal.

you dont rarely see a newspaper advertising cheaper than competitor x by y…

        • Not when the RRP is artificial and nobody sells it at that price… it's just a marketing ploy to make you think you are saving money or will miss out an opportunity if you dont buy it now… it is deceptive conduct…

  • It says "Doubles as a set top box"

What exit does it have to connect to the TV ?

  • this item might appeal as an alternative for half the price (ex p&h):

(noting that the specs can't be directly compared)

that appears to be analog tv, which will be turned off soon, the above is dvb-t

re RRP, for me RRP means nothing unless i go to another retailer who has the identical item with the SAME RRP! problem here is if you are the sole distributer of an item your RRP has no other point of reference(which may appear highly inflated!) in which case most people will compare to other similar items for value for money
