The Optus $59 cap has unlimited SMS/MMS, $550 worth of calls and 2GB of data with $0 repayments on the 16GB.

      Three & Vodafone have 16gb for $49 + $5 handset repayment

    • wow lol i think i missed that one lol

    • but one thing they both have in common, they will come featured with drop out calls via the antenna.

You also forgot to put in comes with free dodgy case ;)

    • Don't Optus have all sort of exclusions that can push the bill well over the $59?
Like voicemail, 1300 calls at very high rates, international …
And the "free" on-network calls only cuts in when the cap is used. That can add a huge amount to your bill.
      Consider these when comparing.

    3 = Worst network ever.
Optus is much much better than Three
Telstra network is the best but it's too pricey and you don't get much value except for the good network

Anyway there was a test done on how fast their 3g networks are
    Telstra came first
    Optus was acceptable
Three was only at 50% speed of either Telstra or Optus(probably Optus) because it was bloody slow.

Optus drops its 3G signal time to time
but Three does that too and when in roaming you'll be slapped with extra charge easily.

I was on Three for 3 years or so
    I'm with Optus now

I will never go back to Three unless they take over Telstra

By the way Optus gives you much better value & connection with iPhones

    • Roaming charges only apply if you are using data not on voice calls!

IMO Three uses Telstra network on roaming so I guess you will have better network coverage than Optus..

But I agree neither of them provide value for money!! If you need value, go with smaller retailers like TPG or Pennytel

      • In case you wanna use Maps App in roaming you're doomed (of course that's when you don't have GPS)

TPG uses Optus network and provides good value but no phones.

Some people want phones on contract so they don't have to pay so much upfront.

  • i just don't think iphone 4 will be any good in receptions regardless of the network, unless you are willing to use them in the ugly case they provide.
might be a good idea to wait for iphone5 lol..

this is the normal price.. not a deal

    Where's the bargain?

  • +3

I've never owned an iPhone (and probably never will), but you just have to marvel at the marketing prowess of Apple. Here, they have a product that's clearly flawed, but people are flocking to buy it!

    • -2

lol ok if that's what you think. it's no more or less flawed than any other top smartphone out there.

but back OT, this is not a good deal. the similarly-priced plan from vodafone offers much better value in this price category.

    • I don't mind them flocking, it is quite amusing. But ffs just stop the spamming/preaching.

3 aint so bad, country bumpkins & signal snobs might be unhappy.
(i kinda like it when my phone doesn't ring)

    • you have a weird send of humour.
Or you're just weird to convince yourself to believe that you're getting nothing out of your money.

Why do you even have a phone that you like not to ring?
Besides, I live in metro area and signal still drops

If you wanna back up 3, you would have to come up with better wording mate

    • OMG, your phone doesn't have an "off" button?

bargain? debatable. i dont think it should be here… maybe better suited for the forum

I think this Apple fan is getting too excited. Please move to forum.

I guess we have to keep seeing this "bargain" at least until tomorrow.
Some people just don't understand the difference between bargain and standard price. sigh

    Taken from Oxford dictionary online:
    bargain (bar|gain)
    Pronunciation:/ˈbɑːgɪn/
    noun
1 an agreement between two or more people or groups as to what each will do for the other:
bargains between political parties supporting the government
2 a thing bought or offered for sale much more cheaply than is usual or expected:
the table was a real bargain

Maybe mods needs to put this in the posting guideline so people really understand what "bargain" means.

i think its a bargain since i am already on three and i love 3 network :) now i dont have to switch to a new company

    • I see that you have some connection with three. Otherwise, I think you would be more impartial.
I am a Three customer myself, and has been so for more than 5 years, fyi. But even I can see that Voda / Optus has better offer.

But, the issue is whether this constitutes a bargain. And unless you have a very poor understanding of english (which is quite improbable), you would understand that this is clearly not a bargain (see above: "bargain is: a thing bought or offered for sale much more cheaply than is usual or expected).
And in case you still didn't get it, the key phrase here is: much more cheaply than usual.

But, I'm sure you actually don't need me to point out the obvious. It's just that you might be a rep of Three, or even a franchisee, just trying to gain some profit.

iPhone4 bargains should be blocked for the week or even the month… Clearly no Bargains are going to be had until the initial rush of customers has passed.
