Pretty good deal. You get a further 10% off via their ebay store though using CAU10. Brings the total to $332.1.

They are not even a digital camera

      • +1

Could you explain the pros and cons between the digital amd non digital?know nothing about dvr security system, just thought this is in my price range

Anyone in the know please comment
would the 2mp 1080p spec make it up for it?
did some search about the 1mp 720p camera, most say it's hard to see number plate,I hope this camera from Uniden is a little better.

Don't waste your time on this crap. If you want CCTV, get something like a HikVision POE Camera with the NVR and atleast 6TB storage. With 4 camera's connected and even using motion detection you might get 1 day of footage at 1080p 25 FPS.

I have 6 cameras on motion detect with 30 prior and 60 sec post event recording all at 1080p at 20 FPS and I'm lucky to get about 14 days of footage with 6TB of space.

hikvision camera go for about $200 ea, NVR around $450 ish, plus your HDD's, plus LAN Cabling.

        • @BlinkyBill:

What is the advantage of 14 days footage? If there is an incident, wouldn't you copy the required footage immediately for the purposes of insurance/police report etc?

        • +3

          @jewish:

Sometimes you might not be aware of an incident in your street until the police come knocking a fortnight later

        • @jewish:

          Do you go on holidays?

        • @BlinkyBill: cant u set up motion detection and set specific footage to be write and delete proof remotely

      • They are not even a digital camera

they're technically a digital camera. it's the output signal that's analog.

If you want simplicity POE is the way to go. Plug it in and away it goes.

Have just set up a 2mp POE 4 camera system that I purchased from Aliexpress. $326.

I understand Hikvision and Dahua are the way to go but mine is Saance and I am happy with it at the moment.

      • Sounds interesting - do you have a link?

      • link pls

also what do you use to route the cables? some kind of clamp? or zip ties?

        • I ran the cables through the wall of my home then through the ceiling then drilled down through the eaves and fitted them. They provide waterproof fittings with the cables. Having one cable that carries the power to the camera and the signal back is very simple to set up. I find the picture quite clear.

I installed the app on my phone and can see live vision cant seem to review vision. I can log in with my laptop and look back through footage though.

        • @DavRo: ah ok, i was hoping for a non drilling solution and exposed wiring like using small clamps along the lenght to attach it to the corners of the wall or something

What did you do for storage?

is the image quality good enough to see someones face at night?

        • @furythree: For storage I purchased a wes tern digital purple 2tb drive from msy computers for storage. Easy to fit into case. Image is good enough to recognize someone of a night time at a reasonable distance. I had a look to see if I could find a youtube clip that is representative but couldn't see one.

        • @furythree:

720p is more than enough to recognise a person if they look at the camera.

  • hi OP, how did you know they are 2MP ?
did not find from google that information

    • Thats why I posted a picture of the package with extra information
      .hope that helps

      • i got a sore neck trying to read it… plus half of it is dark… try again?

    • hi OP, how did you know they are 2MP ?

      fhd = 1920 * 1080 = 2,073,600 = 2mp

  • How much to install one of these bad boys?

  • Junk camera system
Hikvision POE / NVR are the way to go

Cameras are 120 each + NVR is about 300-400 but can be cheaper depending on where you buy it from

I personally use BlueIRIS on my Desktop PC with two 8TB drives raided
seems to get plenty of footage in crystal clear 2mp quality

    • How do the cameras interface with your PC.
      eg. Quad-gigabit ethernet card?

      • Nope POE Switch powering the cameras, then gigabit network into my PC
        plenty of headroom tbh

8x cameras going in at approx 8mbit bandwidth each (64mbits of bandwidth)
HDD set to record event only, motion detction parameters set in BlueIRIS, hard drive control also set within BI
Automatically move recordings to an archive drive
Purge videos after 30 days if flagged nothing suspect, if flagged suspect, kept indefinately

        2 x 8TB storage drives
        i7 6th gen
        32gb DDR4 ram
        Windows 2012 R2 Environment
        RDP access
Offsite upload of video files happens once a week at 2am, (40mbit uplink speed) to a secure storage server

Can export events instantly for police, set markers in BlueIris from start and end and export to usb, takes about 20 seconds to download to stick
Record in special BlueIRIS encoding mode which means I can playback at same times as recording

        • Neat setup, thanks for the info.
Things you can do when you have NBN…

Was considering using a desktop, but with the cost of the BlueIRIS software, POE switch & updating some hardware will be more cost-effective for me investing in an NVR.

        • @b18b:

          I don't have the NBN
I have FTTB through a company called ignite broadband offering "AirFibre over 5ghz"

  • I have a small store room I'd like to hook up a camera system to.
Resolution doesn't need to be UHD or anything.
Would like about 7 days of footage to be stored on the HDD.

Any idea how this one would work or any recommendations on something that would do the job?

    Much appreciated.

  • We just installed three 720p hdcvi to cover the front and one side if a building. The videos are of reasonable quality both day and night. number plates can be read from ten meters (possible more depending on the angle) during the day. Night time is a bit difficult due to the reflection from the plates.

We paid $400 for six cams + 8ch dvr. Installation can be a bit costly if one can't legally diy.

We're still working out where to install the remaining five cams.
