7-Eleven Fuel App Watch - Nationwide - January 2017 to January 2022 » All Comments

      • Update: working fine now. Just updated to iOS15.1 and tried the same method and it worked. Not too sure what happened but somehow it works now.

  • What would be the cheapest ios device that works for this?

    • +1

      Scroll up and read this

      • +1

Cheers thanks. New to the thread and there was a lot of comments to get through completely missed it.

Trying to work out if my accounts have been busted, or 7eleven are having issues at their end - can't sign in, (or lock in before I tried signing out/in) and also can't even create a new account..

Anyone else? (trying on both android phone and ipad)

    • I can login

      • Weird, I've deleted and redownloaded the app, and regardless of whether I choose login or register, it hangs on logo, and then tells me "uh oh next work error"
Net is working fine, both cellular and WiFi

    • +1

I can’t get the login screen to load. Tried on wifi and 5G

      • Mine's working, on 4G (Belong) and also Wifi (TPG)
My remote choppers are also working, they're on wifi (TPG) + NordVPN

Phones used are listed below, all working [wifi (TPG) + NordVPN active on some]
        Xperia Z5C
        Xperia Z5
        Samsung A20
        Samsung S6 Edge +
        Nexus 6P

        Xperia 1 Mk 2 [4G (Belong) + wifi (TPG)]

        • @cwongtech: is it ok to use scrcpy to mirror phone (both are using NordVPN and not same network)?

    • +2

It’s dead for me as well. Possibly intentional if you’re the cynical type of person, as the last of the cheap prices in Melbourne disappear.

      • Can everyone list their devices + connection methods? (Telco / Service provider?)
        More information is always good

        Might be a DNS issue
Anyone tried to connect via a VPN?

        • S10 both wifi and Telstra 5G
          iPad wifi and voda 4G
          Wifi/net is Telstra cable

          • +1

@Tuttle: Can you try ping auth.7eleven.com.au from command prompt on a computer?

That's what powers the 7/11 page

            • @cwongtech: I’m not Tuttle but it pings fine for me on win10 through voda 4G.

        • iPhone and android via both Telstra retail 4G and voda 4G.

    • +1

Had issues on home wifi this morning (Telstra NBN) but worked with cellular (Boost/Telstra 4G). Hopefully just a DNS issue and gets sorted soon.

      • +1

Looks like it’s up again. I have logged in.

  • anyone having problems locking prices out-of-state?

    • Just locked in NSW from QLD no issues for me (using 3utools for IOS)

  • +2

Just got my iphone 5s ($59) and it was so easy to lock in.
Should have ordered one ages ago.
Shell around the corner is pushing 189.9 for 91

    • -7

Can I please have the quick steps to set up this?

      • +5

Its at there top of each page of this thread.

      • +1

The specific (and easiest) process is:

        • Have iPhone

        • iTunes etc on your computer

        • Connect phone give connection permissions

        • Browse to iFakelocation site above. Download whatever version you need and extract in full

        • Run iFakelocation.exe, refresh, select phone and enter location. Lock in.

        Done.

      • Make sure the screen of the iPhone is unlocked whilst using iFakeLocation.

  • +2

We're at the lowest point of the fuel cycle in NSW, this is just plain silly!

  • Anyone else having trouble locking in this morning?

My iPhone is stuck on "Finding our Best Local Price", after displaying the 5 closest stores.

    • +1

Have you tried changing fuel type and then back again?

      • +1

Solved! Thank you. Changed fuel, searched, changed fuel again to original and was able to lock.

        • +1

I've also found you can just click on the fuel you've already got selected and it'll work. In other words, as long as you use the drop-down and make a selection (even if already selected), it'll search

  • +8

Just got the alert for this… Not sure if it works…
    E10 99.9 11-Seven Research Research VIC 3095

    • Locked. Thanks.

    • +2

Locked and will use tonight, hope it's not a honeypot…

      • Why, how would they screw us?

        • +4

Ban the account for breaking ToS, it's happened before but that was for a 0.1 cent/L price error. Fortunately you can create new accounts easily these days (at one stage they required a drivers license number).

          • @sween64: Well, I used mine, saved $30, the attendant did a double-take when he saw the discount. Came home and promptly locked it in again. Pity hardly anyone else uses E10 amongst my group.

            • +1

              @lordra: I had a very similar experience.

  • Great price.
I've never put e10 in a car before. Would it be bad to put in a 2017 RAV4?

dont look now but e10 is only 99.9 ! would normally never touch it but at around 50c less than 91 i will give it a go

  • Sorry to be a noob guys, but is there an easy way to fake my location with an iphone 12?

    • +4

You will see them under "Working Methods (Updated 14th July 2020)" for iOS

  • My 7-eleven App (IOS) currently unavailable - it says undergoing some maintenance ..

    • Same, pop-up appears within a few seconds and it blocks all functionality.

  • -2

They look like ladies feet. But everyone knows women make their boyfriends go out and fill the car.

  • -2

My 7 elevan app down now. Can I still using fuel lock with previous barcode print screen?

    • If you have the barcode from the "My 7-Eleven Card" saved then you can scan it at the service station. No guarantees it will work if the maintenance affects their POS as well. If you do fill up and miss out on a discount you can contact Customer Service and they will send you the difference in the form of a gift card.

      • But if you locked at 99c, could be a bit risky.

        • It work today I pay petrol for 99c

  • App back online but locks gone?

    • +1

      My lock remains.

      • Sorry, my mistake.

        • All good. Happy locking ^~^

  • +2

For android if you have LineageOS installed on your phone the mock location from the developer options works globally with any app and 7eleven app doesn't see that you've changed the location. I use my older phone that has it installed to lock my fuel

  • Anyone using samsung galaxy device, when login in how do you make it remember the credential for future login? i tried to help many guys here to lock fuel for them but it a bit nightmare to enter every time. Had about 5-10 accounts that I do actively.

    Thanks

    • +3

Use a password manager to manage all accounts and passwords, eg Bitwarden.

      • OK cool. Will have a look

        • +2

I will also suggest you try to use scrcpy
Scrcpy mirrors your Android device onto a connected computer, you don't need root, only USB Debugging (so Android Developer options) enabled.

Almost all devices I can do a successful copy and paste across from my connected computer to the mirrored phone
There's only been one phone that wouldn't do it (Samsung S8), not sure what blocked the copy and paste function but it should help as it effectively allows you to use your mouse and keyboard on your chopper phone.

Had about 5-10 accounts that I do actively.

Alternatively, force the people to create new accounts with simple/easy-to-type passwords or refuse to carry out locks for them.. you're using up your time to carry out their locks not the other way around.

That's one of the reasons why I don't actively lock fuel for anyone these days, takes too much of my own time because each lock costs you around 5 minutes

          • +1

@cwongtech: Thanks so much legend, since 7/11 app updated their new login thing where it take you to a new page its really annoying.

Yeh I done before asking ppl to change their password… Some are just ridiculous long and like a puzzle not sure who they hiding from? lol. One time I have like 20 active users. But normally I locked them with ipad and most are auto remembered the account so just two click for me. Which I don't mind at all. Just that if I use my phone it different story.

          • @cwongtech: scrcpy is just to control the device correct, you still need it rooted and magisk and stuff on Android to lock?

    • +1

      I use Roboform.
Happy to send you a referral if you like.

      • Are you paying for Roboform? I used to have it and then I accidentally updated and lost the version I had.

        • All of your passcards will still be intact though. Yes, I do pay for it.

Just installed the My7Eleven App using Windows Subsystem for Android on Windows 11"

    https://imgur.com/a/ipq48xT

You need to install Gapps using WSAGAScript. The app seems to crash when requesting location, still experimenting.

    • Thanks for the feedback. Last I heard, the Android sub-system is still in developmentbso not stable enough for day to day use.

      • +1

Yeah it's still in development, although in my experience it's pretty stable. I think the app receives invalid location data causing it to crash.

Its possible to install Magisk and obtain root, so I think with some experimenting it should be possible to set something up.

        • +1

Its possible to install Magisk and obtain root, so I think with some experimenting it should be possible to set something up.

Magisk as an App is just installed as an APK on any phone
Where the magic happens is Magisk Manager is then used to patch a boot.img
Then with a normal android phone, you'd need to replace the boot partition's boot.img in fastboot (not hard, you just do adb reboot bootloader, followed by fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_boot.img)
Requirement to do the above is unlock bootloader

Question is, are you able to replace or select a target boot image within the Windows subsystem for Android on Windows 11 before launching it?
Or maybe someone could then locate the boot.img in some windows directory (and therefore just skipping the "fastboot flash" process altogether?) and just directly replace it?

          • +2

@cwongtech: It's quite simple you can unpack the msixbundle and replace the kernel, system image, boot image, etc. That's how things are patched. There are projects which automate this to an extent: https://github.com/LSPosed/MagiskOnWSA

            • +1

              @Haxxa: Very very interesting!
The only roadblock I can see is:

              • Passing safetynet test (I wonder if the kdrag0n's safetynet fix 1.2.0 installed via Magisk Module can do that?) this can be either verified via the Magisk Module or a third party app from the Google Play (app) store

              • Presenting the location, which in the past Smali Patcher module was used (normally you'd do this with your rooted android, connected to a comp, and you run a program that generates the module for you to install in Magisk Mgr)
I know there's alternatives like Taichi module as well.

The app seems to crash when requesting location, still experimenting.

Please keep us updated on your progress, will be awesome to read up on!

  • Anyone having problems logging into the app tonight?

  • +1

    Yeah It's just stuck atm.

  • Can anyone assist in locking in a price for me? I've tried the spoofing methods provided but for the life of my cannot get it.

      • Firstly I've tried downloading the magisk and smalli patch both on my phone and computer as it's not specified where to download. i've gotten the developers option enabled and connected it to my computer. Phone opens magisk but computer doesnt. Nothing seems to open the smalli patch at all so it just doesn't do anything. At this point i'm lost.

I have a samsung 10+ and an old mac book air early 2004.

        • +1

Have a read of my instructions

Phone opens magisk but computer doesnt. Nothing seems to open the smalli patch at all so it just doesn't do anything. At this point i'm lost.

It looks like you have only have developers option enabled, but bootloader has not been unlocked (you enable this in Developer options and complete the process that's specific to your phone, this will wipe your phone, thus as per my instructions, I recommend you to be doing this on a spare phone), and thus, root has not been achieved.

I have a samsung 10+ and an old mac book air early 2004.

I'm going to guess you have a Samsung Note 10+
          https://www.hardreset.info/devices/samsung/samsung-galaxy-no…
Please have a read of the above and understand what you need to commit to, before carrying it out.

For Samsung, you'll need to be using ODIN to flash ROM files (at the very least, the boot.img of the corresponding ROM installed on your phone)

SmaliPatcher (I only know of a Windows .exe file, I haven't worked with MacOS sorry), will generate a smalipatcher module to be used with Magisk Manager's Modules (which becomes enabled and visible once you have sent through the patched boot.img via ODIN to your phone's boot partition, thus achieving "root")

          • @cwongtech: Thank you! - Will have a go at reading this. Before that, your instructions are pc specific then? Is there no way around this for macs?

            • @Phi11ipzz: ADB can be used for Macs for sure
My concern at this stage for you appears to be SmaliPatcher, people have also achieved native GPS location
You may need to search Smali Patcher alternatives (TaiChi module has been mentioned, but I have not used it)
Other members may need to step in with suggestions at this point.

Alternative solution for you is to run Windows as a Virtual Machine (WINE? VMWare?) on your Macbook and divert the USB going from your Android device to the Virtual Machine, thus, bypassing the OS limitation

            • @Phi11ipzz: Suggest just picking up a cheap 2nd hand iPone. I'm using an old iPone 6. Works a treat. Just use it for this.

    • +1

maybe try these instructions from page 117: https://gist.github.com/alwynpan/fe1dad23f6563150537ad224884…

  • Am i understanding correctly that this wouldn't work on my old phone i found in a draw that only has android 8?

    • It will if you can unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROM (lineage 17 and up) if it's available for your phone.

I was able to set it up on an Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5c

The last android version available officially was android

Hey everyone seems there's this website that this guy locks ur fuel in for the cheapest for that day any thoughts on this but charges $1 per lock https://711.happygo.com.au/index.php?rid=175

    • +2

Dilutes all your savings doesnt it?
Unless you manage to lock it at one of those prices when it gets posted on ozbargain, prob not worth it for the everyday lock

Also I thought there was someone who provided a website that does this a few comments up (or more). Self service where U entered your Username and Passwd and it did it. I didn't try it so don't know how it works or the risks…

      • I believe that is also a paid service but not sure if there's a minimum amount you can pay for the self service cost i usually save $10-$13 each week so $1 might be worth the cost I'll give it a go and I'll update once paid and locked in

Hi, I followed the instructions in this thread using Android + Magisk + Smali to create a chopper. (Thanks everyone for sharing knowledge!) But after successfully price locking a few times, I got a g09 error, which I understand from here means they detected 'suspicious activity' on my account.
I understand I can just create a new account, but I'd like to avoid the detection in the future: does anyone know what is triggering their detection?

Unfortunately we don't know what triggers their detection at this time

I’ve never had an account suspended or blocked. I lock for myself (fill up once a week) and my wife (fill up once a month). I lock from all over the country. I’ve got two accounts and always lock on my iPhone.

    • Well done mate!

  • So once you get a lock price , you just fill up and then they scan the MYCARD barcode on app to get discount?

    • How do i tell if /what I've locked the fuel as? When I pressed lock there was an error but after I tried again it said already exists. Do I just trust it?

      • The fuel lock page should be red and show the price and fuel type you locked.

        • Ahh, it doesn't. Still scans for the lowest price around, has a button for locking but says I've already locked it in after I press it -.- guess not worth the risk as i was setting it up for my mum.

Ok I just got mock locations working on my Pixel5 on Android 12, here is a basic run down of what I did!!

I used the following app to check safetynet status - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scottyab.s…

I might have [read: most definitely] done some things I don't need to, and probably selected things that don't need selecting but this is a basic 'how I did it', I am not going into much detail about where to get things or how to actually install the things just the steps involved in what I did to get it to work, google is your friend here.

If someone wants to take the time to remove unnecessary steps to help me and others I would really appreciate it because I like things to be as 'clean' as possible. If I get time I might redo the entire thing and try to figure out exactly what needs doing and what doesn't but until then this is about as helpful as I can be.

    The basic 'how to'

Root using magisk Alpha (vvb2060) (detailed guides online already show how to do this, you need to extract boot.img from your installed firmware, install magisk apk, patch the boot.img then flash it using PC/ABD. Make sure it is the ALPHA version. I used " [GUIDE] Root Pixel 5 Android 12] on XDA for these steps

    ONCE ROOTED

-"hide magisk" from settings and rename app

-toggle magisk hide slider in settings

-Select apps in the "configure denylist" (I selected ALL of the following: google pay, google play protect services, google play services, google play store, google services framework and also 7/11 app)

    Install riru magisk module

    Install lsposed magisk module

Install mockmocklocation APK from xposed repo and then enable it in lsposed

From within lsposed tap mockmocklocation and check 7/11 (or other app you want to hide mock location from)

Not sure if the following is actually needed so first can try without and report results!

Install xprivacyLUA APK and enable it in lsposed -

Select google play services in xprivacylua module inside lsposed- need to check the three dots and then hide and deselect "system apps"

Open xprivacylua app and scroll down to google play services and check ONLY the "use tracking" setting

I also installed safetynetfix 2.1.2 (riru) (I don't think this is needed)

I think not all of the google services need to be selected in magisk denylist.

I also rebooted between many of the above steps.

    Hope this helps someone!

    • Thank you for sharing your experience

That's a lot more complicated than a Pixel 2 XL on Android 11

Queston: Does Smalipatcher not work for Android 12?
      Or does Riru/Lsposed/XprivacyLUA replace SmaliPatcher?

      • +1

Lol just went to edit but your a quick one cwongtech

First my 'Edit': I can confirm the safetynetfix is required but xprivacylua is not.

To your question about smali I didn't bother trying it after reading another report that it wasn't working on pixel 6 with A12. It might work but I didn't even try (nobody ever accused me of doing things the easy way haha), might give it a go if I can be bothered but this way is working perfectly for me so probably wont unless I reinstall my phone again.

Edit: you also only need to select Google Play services play store and 711 app in magisk denylist I also selected Google pay which is working fine.

And yeah lsposed and mockmocklocations seems to do the job of smali, but ultimately smali might be a better option (if it works) as it has other handy patches in it.

  • Hey all - is anyone able to help me setting up my 'chopper'?

I'm using a iPhone SE 2nd Gen with the latest IOS (15.2) and installed iFakeLocation from Github. When I laucnh the application on my mac it takes me to a website based on my local host and when I click refresh my phone appears. My issue is that when I click set fake location nothing changes in my phone (i.e. maps still show my location as where I actually am / 7/11 app searches for fuel deals in my local area).

Anyone have this problem and manage to fix it?

    Thanks!

    • Is the screen of your iPhone unlocked?

      • Yes it is…in the readme file on GitHub it says there should be a developer menu in settings however I can't see it. Makes me think that might be why it isn't working properly

        • Do you have “ .NET 5.0 Runtime (macOS 10.13 "High Sierra" or newer)” installed?

        • Do you have a “DeveloperImages” folder with an iOS 15.2 folder inside?

          • @sween64: Hey mate I'm having same issue. Can you please explain where the dev images folder goes. Currently All my files are sitting in downloads

            • +1

              @vinnychase:

Create a folder called "DeveloperImages" (next to the iFakeLocation executable) and inside that folder make a folder for the iOS version you are running (eg. "12.4", "13.0", etc).

              more here

              • @sween64: Yup I read that but it kinda went over my head. Here is what I have done. Downloaded ifakeloc DMG file. when you click it on it doesn't work cause its unverified. So I dropped it into the applications tab and then approved the opening of application in Security and Privacy area. Then the localhost thingy opened and it detected my iOS 15.2 device. I entered location clicked search. Then I hit set fake location but nothing happens. So I went back downloaded the Dev Image for 15.2 which contains 2 files one is the disk image DMG file and the other is a signature FILE. when you click on DMG file it creates a folder on desktop I copied that folder and pasted into the 15.2 folder with the signature file. What may I be doing wrong?

                • @vinnychase: what does next the ifakelocation executable mean?

                  • @vinnychase: The file that your click to launch the program. Usually ifakelocation.exe

                • @vinnychase: Sorry, I can't follow exactly what's happening, mostly because I use windows. Either wait for a mac user to help you or take some screenshots and I might be able to follow.

                  • +1

@sween64: Fixed! I am now virtually jumping off the hoover dam. I uninstalled and reinstalled and this time the program itself downloaded the disk image so I didn't have too.

  • Does the locking work with iOS 10.3.4? I'm getting error message in 7/11 App even when I try to login.

    • +1

I’m impressed you even got the app installed. From the App Store page, My 7-Eleven requires iOS 12 or above.

      • It was installed a while ago. :)

  • Does anyone know if iFakelocation works on macOS Monterey? just want to make sure before i upgrade my macbook. Thanks.

      yes it works no issues

        thank you!

  • If I get midweek and see a better price on refinery, and the fuel lock hasn't expired yet, I'd need to make a second account right? I can't see any way to update to a better fuel lock

Or just fill 10ml of fuel to unlock the fuel lock … :P

  • using LOS 19 android 12 for my s8, location spoofing works and its all setup but going into 7 eleven off of aptoide, it allows me to sign in and 'use the app' but nothing really loads, If i go into app info it shows it using 0 data at all as if I have no connection.
    Any ideas

Then I'm guessing you also don't have Google Chrome or Google Play services installed via opengapps and only have Lineage 19's AOSP browser?
          7/11 also uses google maps

7/11's auth page doesn't work with the default AOSP browser, you need to get Google Chrome
You're welcome to attempt to use other browser

          • @cwongtech: no i dont have chrome or play services, i installed microg for that.
7/11 uses google maps, cool? im not using google location services tho.
7/11 auth page didnt work your right, i used fennec, a firefox fork.
            thanks

            • @abjsdhasehasee:

7/11 uses google maps, cool? im not using google location services tho.

To find the fuel stations, it uses that to display the fuel stations while it's searching.
Interesting if you can get a fuel lock working without google maps installed

7/11 auth page didnt work your right, i used fennec, a firefox fork.

Does it work now? Please report back, the more info we have, the better.

              • @cwongtech: my 7 eleven app now does load, but still same problem with locking in fuel, its using mapbox maps inside which uses OSM.
this could be my problem however going into store locator, it does know my spoofed location and does know where stores are.

                yes using fennec works.

Yes. Minimum requirement is iOS 12.

      • Okie Thanks …. ! !
        I appreciate it ….

  • Hoping someone can help me with this!

Have used the iFakelocation app in the past (thanks master131) but having issues running it on a iPhone 7 now.

Bit of background, spent whole day trying to root an old Samsung S8 but it proved to be too troublesome.
Instead got an old iPhone 7 and tried to run the iFakelocation app using my Macbook Pro and since that wouldn't work I then tried to do it using my old Windows 10 machine.

    Device/App specs/status for Mac:
    iOS version - 15.2
    Mac version - Monterey macOS12.1
.Net core 5.0 - Installed (thought might be an issue with this, so used .dotnetcoreuninstall app to uninstall all .net core runtime versions and reinstalled .net core 5.0 again but that didn't work as well)
/Applications/iFakeLocation.app/bin/DeveloperImages - has images for 15.2 (let it download through the app and after that didn't work, deleted existing images and replaced manually with xcode 15.2 dev images from the github repo but that didn't work as well)

    Device/App specs/status on Windows:
    Windows version - 10 Home
    iTunes - installed
Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 - installed

Also since the iFakelocation app wasn't working, I tried the 3utools application on my Windows 10 machine and still had same issue. (3u tools was stuck on applying mock location screen, waited about 10mins but it just wouldn't go past it)

In all cases, screen was unlocked and iFakelocation/3utools was able to detect my iPhone 7 fine and I had trusted it on all devices.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Currently thinking of downgrading iPhone 7 from 15.2 (though it looks like it would be troublesome) or running the app on an Ubuntu instance but not sure if that would fix whatever the problem is!

    • IFakeLocation did not work for me either. Also feedback from others suggest it is hit or miss. Have you tried 3uTools as that worked for me easily

edit - sorry didn't read your comment fully. May be others can help if none of the solution worked for you

    • iOS 15.1 can still be installed on an iPhone 7using iTunes restore. Not sure if it would solve your issue though.

Have a read of the comments that lead up to this post they might help you with iFL.

      • Thanks, just downloading iOS15.1 now and will try and restore it to see if that helps.

Have read most of the comments regarding iFL in last 30 or so pages of this thread and also installed all the dependencies as per the repo a few times now but still doesn't solve the issue currently

        • Downgraded to iOS15.1 and tried again, still no luck :(

          • @hola011: Got an old netbook running Windows that can be used instead of your Mac?

            • @pogichinoy: Already tried to run on Windows (using iFakelocation & 3utools as per above)

              • @hola011: Turns out for whatever reason, I can't use my old iPhone 7 (Japanese version) with the iFL app but an old iPhone 6s (AU version) works ok! Not sure if that helps anyone but it remains a mystery to me as to why the iFL app wouldn't work on the iPhone 7 I guess…

                • @hola011: Are both phones on the same iOS ?

                  • @sween64: No different OS one's running 14.8, the other is 15.2

                    • @hola011: Maybe that’s why. There’s been a few people having issues with 15.2, maybe the developer image isn’t working.

  • been using ifakelocation fine for the last year or so but tried to use it this morning all of a sudden it comes up with this error "Mount failed with status: N/A and error: ImageMountFailed" when trying to set fake location. Nothing has changed at all, my phone is still using the same ios and I've tried creating a folder for developerimages and downloading the images from github but to no avail. Any ideas? (on ios 14.7.1 using macos)

    • I got similar error last month on PC… fixed by rebooting PC and iPhone.

  • Hey guys

I should have dig ozbargain before spent ages creating a service website to make a dollar here and there …

Read a few posts and why does people look down on service to lock prices in for other people?

    • +6

Because the sites are profiteering off an exposed loophole and others offer the same service here for free. Or are willing to teach people how to do it, also for free. This is a community where we help each other, not charge each other.

Also, some might be concerned that if a service becomes particularly popular then 7-Eleven may try harder to close the loophole.

      • +1

I see, thanks for offering the alternative POV. much appreciate it.

    • Let me get this right, are you asking why a business might have a problem if you profit at their expense?

      • But this is what business is about isn't it?

There're many tools and system out there, that service businesses are offering their time/effort for those who doesn't wanna do it themselves?

I do get your point by saying the above.

        • +11

There're many tools and system out there, that service businesses are offering their time/effort for those who doesn't wanna do it themselves?

If you make it too easy, it'll attract too much attention and eventually may cause the complete destruction of the 7/11 fuel lock benefits.
That's what happened with the modified apks when it was much easier to obtain the fuel locks, before they rebuilt the app from the ground up and introduced SafetyNet test
That's my main concern with these paid engagements, then again the pros is there are slightly less beggars in this thread.

The long-time fuel lockers are fully aware of other "paid" services, currently there is a little bit of a barrier to entry (committing significant time to learn how to set up your phone to do it)
Are the monetary benefits that you receive now for performing the service, worth it in the long-run to you?
You don't need to answer anyone but yourself
It does cost me approximately 5 minutes per fuel lock as per this comment

Locking fuel requires the following: - Cwongtech
          - reading the fuel lock request in PM
          - typing someone else's credentials in (we can't copy and paste into a real android phone). Some of them are monstrous passwords as well (it's 7/11, not your banking password, why do you guys need to use a 20 character password?
          - changing GPS locations to match the desired fuel type (might be different locations, especially for LPG, E10, U95, Diesel)
          - checking the fuel lock price is right (P03 is not infallible, might need to switch to 2nd best price), and matches the fuel lock request then carrying it out
          - acknowledging someone's lock request message by replying to them

In my opinion, it doesn't make sense to charge $1-2 per lock for 5 minutes of my time/work carried out. It's equivalent of $12-24/hr (inconsistent) and my personal time is much more valuable than that, so I didn't go down that road
          But hey, you do you

I feel it's not unfair to ask for funds for those who are using something you created (with your time) to benefit them, however, long term it does increase accessibility to those who otherwise would not have been able to access the cheap prices. I'm not ready to increase accessibility to the masses, so I help those who show they've given it a go.

If you think about your paid user base, they clearly will run off at the first sign of a cheaper priced service/competitor
Are those users, people you want to form a "long-term" relationship with?

Personally I don't really agree with the "giving back to the community" by locking for others when one finally becomes capable as per my comment here
So I don't do it anymore as per my previous comment regarding the consumption of my time and other fuel lock capable users. I'm not going to stop anyone, but I've helped enough to see no one ever wants to be self-sufficient

99% of those who need help locking are those who also will never get off their bum to actually try to lock, and instead will be beggars for life.
I do occasionally render assistance to those who are experiencing temporary issues, but when I can see I'm being taken advantage of (I've let too many slide in the past) I will politely cut ties

          • +1

@cwongtech: Yeah, i thought of almost of that time/effort vs $ as well.

Right now it doesn't make sense, yet. Sigh~

Thanks for the insights and breakdown tho. I really appreciate your experienced and wisdom here.

I don’t think it would work. If you zoom out on the Store Locator, all the stores are located in Australia. The app is developed for 7-Eleven Australia and uses 7eleven.com.au

    • +1

Says fuel not available in your area (this is what happens when you put a common suburb name)

As per sween64's comment, the app is developed for Aus only

      • Yeah, thanks for both of your responses. What you both say makes sense.

        • this is what happens when you put a common suburb name

For clarity, this is when you accidentally relocate to the UK or the US haha

  • This is truly one of the best communities! I have saved a tonne in just the two weeks I've been doing this hack.

    • +1

Glad to hear. Don't forget to buy them a coffee!

  • +9

Just a heads up, one of the 7 eleven service stations wouldn't let me use the fuel lock. The dude blocked the eftpos machine with his hand, did something on the POS system and removed his hand which displayed the non-discounted amount. He then said there was an issue with the POS system and i'd have to contact 7 eleven to get a refund voucher sent to me.

Obviously dodgy as, and I assume that certain servo now doesn't need to fork out the discount because head office now discount me. Anyway, the 7 eleven help line were cool, said there was no issue with the fuel lock system at that time either…go figure.

    • Could you name the servo you went to? I'm interested to know as I'm in the ACT too and never had that issue apart from one genuine store system issue.

    • +2

Servos never have to worry about “paying the discount”. Head office does.

      • +3

Agreed. I thought servos got paid a set amount of money per L sold so why were they being a dick about it?
I've had times where the attendant acted like the money was coming out of his wallet. -.-

        • +1

Yea, when I called head office they advised that the franchisee only makes about 1-2c per litre. They make their money from the products in the store itself.

          • @Ten: 2¢ per litre, hard to believe that. No business franchise can survive with that kind of margin, even when other by-products are sold.

            • @No ONE: There’s also the “allowed” margin of error with fuel quantity.

    • would love to know what state this was in to avoid this servo…

    • Was it Spence per chance?

    • +4

It was the Canberra City centre servo guys. I haven't had an issue at any other servo in Canberra before.

      • +2

Odd, that’s my local and I’ve never had an issue. I’ll be filling up there tomorrow evening so will see what happens

        • No issues, that said bloke looked like he hated his job

  • Can no longer sign in on Android. Getting
"That didn't quite work as planned, there seems to be a problem. Error A02"
    Tried reinsintalling. Any thoughts appreciated?

    • Are you passing safety net?

      • +1

A02 normally means network issue or android version incompatibility..
@chyawala can you post what version you're running (Android ROM, device, 7/11 app version)

Also try a different-WiFi network/hotspot from main phone/mobile SIM connectivity
        Turn off VPNs temporarily
Also try the good ol' turn it off and on again.

Can your android phone access any webpages normally?

  • Managed to get this setup and working on a Moto G8 Plus. Was erroring when locking in the price, and had to run some terminal commands to set the device to a safe fingerprint in order to pass SafetyNet. Once I did that, it all worked a treat.

Thanks to whoever came up with the location spoofing! Clever people!
