7-Eleven Fuel App Watch - Nationwide - January 2017 to January 2022 » All Comments

    • +1

Send me a video and I might be able to help you out

      • -3

Thanks your a legend pm'd you mate.

  • -1

So I was running into issues, but looks like link 1 is the old APK.

Link 2 works fine though, thanks Freighter!

  • -1

Nox method is not working. Keeps returning to home screen after trying to lock in price. Grrr. Any ideas anyone. Or am I one This is happening to??

    • Did you lock 2 times already in the last 24 hrs..?

      • -1

No. Different account. Locked worked last night but not today. Tried several locals. Same result

        • +1

Doesn't matter which account, 2 times within 24 hours for that NOX instance?

The 2 locks per 24 hours is tied to a Device ID, NOT accounts

Each NOX instance will have one.

    • -1

Maybe use Android 7 instead of 5 in Multi-Drive?

  • Quick Question:
I've read that some people have had accounts locked, and as a result have only historically locked in prices that are in the same state (due to border restrictions etc). I generally use Nox on my PC if it makes a difference, and give it around 24hrs before filling up (i.e. not teleporting to WA, locking in a price and then arriving at a servo in Brissie 1hr later). Am I just being paranoid? Has everyone else been locking in the lowest national price without any issues/being locked?

    • +3

      Am I just being paranoid?

      Yes, in my opinion.

Has everyone else been locking in the lowest national price without any issues/being locked?

I have, been taking weekly trips to WA/NSW and filled up back home in VIC with no issues. Heck even the cashier at one store boasted about his super-low voucher - wouldn’t be surprised if he did the same as is.

Since there’s no need attach a credit card/ gift card anymore, just make another account if anything goes wrong.

      • +2

Yeah just keep making new accounts. I don't think they even do phone number verification so you can use a fake one if need be

        • +3

Only email verification needed, phone number verification is not :)

      • -3

Since there’s no need attach a credit card/ gift card anymore, just make another account if anything goes wrong.

For those who still have 7/11 Balance in their acc, be sure to pay with it!

  • +4

Have a U98 voucher @ 87.9c that expires today if anyone wants it

  • Merged from [VIC] Unleaded 91 Fuel $0.839/L @ 7-Eleven, Fairfield
    Go to Deal

I checked and locked petrol price - 83.9 cents per litre at 4:12pm today for my next re-fuel (will top my vehicle next Friday morning).

Price may change without notice. Best to check and lock it before price goes up.

    • Not diesel?

      • Updated to Unleaded 91.

    • I see special unleaded there

    • The discrepancy between unleaded and diesel now is frankly disgusting. Gasbuddy says APCO in Thamstown is 98.7 if someone wants to verify firsthand

    • 82.9c at Hallam VIC

    • Not the cheapest in Vic or NSW

    g'day cheap fuel searches.

I think a few people are/were after my modded APK with multiple device ID support, but I have some bad news for you all.. It isn't gonna be released.. this week. Nah, it's pretty much done I just want to try and add in some other nifty/cool features that I have thought of. But in the mean time, I've created a wiki on this site for how to lock in with my new APK which has the mock location stuff, a bit of a FAQ section and then a link to the Python script and how to lock in on your PC with nox/bluestacks etc. Have a gander at if you want. Linky -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/7eleven_fuel_app

note: hopefully someone can add the Nox/Bluestacks stuff though, because I don't use it.

  • Hallam VIC
    91
    81.9

  • Is anyone else still having issues with the app crashing when attempting to lock price? Getting it on both Bluestacks and mobile, both with modded APK. Fresh installs on both.

    • +3

That's normal. You need to use the store finder then press the orange button to set a location before you lock-in or it will crash.

      • +1

        Ah that does it. Thanks.

  • E10 still 83.1 in Orange NSW

    • Not anymore

      • -3

RIP. cheapest now in NSW is 94.9 in Bathurst

        • +3

Why don't you lock in Hallam VIC for 79.9?

  • +7

    Special diesel 99.9 in Lurnea.
    Not updated on project3zero yet

    • +1

Still not updated but is still 99.9c? Strange…

  • +2

  • +2

Been having an issue, not sure if anyone can help me or has experienced this too but essentially:

    • using the latest apk (7_eleven_2044)
    • lock in price (which i've been doing successfully for a while)
    • generates barcode but fails at the counter. By "fail" I mean that it causes the scanner to reject the barcode (or in one instance, crash their system)…

    Any advice? TIA!!!

    • +1

      Had the same issue today.

      • +1

I had problems too. Got 2 account and would not accept either voucher as she showed me the till and it said voucher had been already used dispite never having used them. O well let's see if I can claim it.

Just found easy way to send claim. Setting / missed discount and you take photo of your receipt and it produces email for you.

        • +1

Oh goodo, thanks mate! hopefully this gains traction and we can work out what's going on? I'd like to still use it… it's so bloody good… They might be on to us hey?

  • +1

Is 7/11 app down for maintenance this morning for anyone else?

    • Yep went to pay for petrol this morning and got the maintenance message. Hoping I can retro claim through the app

      • is this a 7/11 thing or a this app thing? since this is a modded apk?

        • National 7/11 app outage

  • +2

    Hi all,
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone involved in making this happen!

Can confirm it works on my Mackbook, using BlueStacks 4 and the apk file.

    Good job everyone!!!

    Thank you!!!

Just got fuel from the local, the guy scanned my fuel lock in code and then proceeds to tell me it hasn't been working all day. Why would he scan it first if he already knew this?
I feel they're scanning and then pulling the bs story. Or am I wrong?

    • +4

Maybe he was hoping that it would start working again?

      • -4

Lol he lacked effort in his role. He didn't even try it a 2nd time. I've worked in retail and you always scan a 2nd time if there's an issue. I think he was full of it.
If I get him next time, I"LL remind him of the system not working last time and see if it's working again. 😂

        • +2

I had problems too. Got 2 account and would not accept either voucher and she showed me the till and it said voucher had been already used dispite never having used them. O well let's see if I can claim it.

          • +3

@WesthamAreMassive: Looks like he was honest and I was wrong. I shall crawl back into my shell and get him a free app coffee next time I see him to apologise.

          • @WesthamAreMassive: Same with me today. Said voucher had been used, but hadn't.

          • -1

@WesthamAreMassive: Is this due to price locked being done at different state ?

          • +1

@WesthamAreMassive: Thank you for contacting 7-Eleven Customer Service.
We're sorry to hear that you've had trouble redeeming your Fuel Lock discount.

We have confirmed that you should have received a discount of $… for your fuel purchase. I have topped up your account with $… to cover the discount, plus a little extra.

  • +31

    Sorry for a late update.

This should be working. A few people have tested it and it works. It's the multiple device ID version of my modded apk. I didn't get around to finishing what I wanted to include, when I do I'll just upload it to the same folder and you can grab it, so check that in the next few weeks I guess. I also added a notification for when you haven't locked in a store when you startup. Yeah it's annoying but you'll quickly learn to lock a store in! I also now use the inbuilt notification toast message when you choose a store - looks sleek <;o)

    Link?

There was/is a glitch with barcodes not showing up. When I was testing if I logged in some would show, and others wouldn't. When logged out the ones that wouldn't show would and those that did show wouldn't show. Go figure. Anything else let me know?

On another note, with my script I updated that a few days/week or so ago. If you create a new account you can lock in on that now straight away too, and I added a credit/thank you section to all of the contributors.
    Ciao

    • +1

Does that mean existing barcodes locked from the previous apk won’t work?

      • Sorry. The barcodes not showing was relating to the offers section. Someone on here asked if I could try and debug a problem with them but alas it either was too difficult or I just couldn't do it.

Your fuel lock won't be affected if you move onto this version.

    • +11

Download Freighter's app and sling him $10 for saving you hundreds:
      https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.freyta.tha…

    • +6

Don't ever be sorry, Freighter! You've saved us 1000s of dollars that waiting a day or two for an update is the least of our worries. Thanks for all your hard work! I know I couldn't do what you do so I appreciate it.

    • +7

Good on you legend, keep up the good work. You inspired me to open source some of my stuff (Mainframe related… of all things), thanks again!
One thing if I may, Your app 'wiki page' in Ozbargain, should probably have this latest apk link (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/7eleven_fuel_app)
I've updated it for now and will try to link to your forum 'release' posts in future, cheers.

    • I'm getting foxtrot erro. The resource requires a device ID.

      When trying to sign in.

      • +1

And you searched the thread or read the wiki?

        • I mean I did the generate device ID as per the wiki for this issue. It closes the app when I press generate device ID and error persists. I'll press it and then force close the background process as well and see.

Worked when I killed the process. Cheers freighter.

From 17 June 2020, the My 7‑Eleven Card will be removed from the 7‑Eleven Fuel App. That means that after 11:59pm on 14 June 2020 you will no longer be able to use the funds you have on the My 7‑Eleven Card in the App.

But do not worry, if you still have funds remaining on your My 7‑Eleven Card after 14 June 2020, you won’t lose them. We will arrange with you to transfer those funds to a 7‑Eleven physical Gift Card which you will then have until 14 June 2023 to spend in store. You will receive an email soon detailing how to transfer your remaining funds to a 7‑Eleven physical Gift Card.

In the meantime, you can spend your my 7‑Eleven Card balance in store until 14 June 2020.

    • Glad I’ve only got $4 or so left.

      • -1

Yeah I better get mine filled up as soon as possible.

        • +2

I can't even login to check my current balance! It seems their server is down?

        • +1

I don't understand the urgency. Surely you can still pay for petrol with the physical card. Simpler to fill up now of course, but many of us aren't driving much these days.

          • @DamonT: Except I dont even know where my physical card is and cant remember if I ever got one. Easy to say in theory but Ive got $44 bucks still stashed in the app. As you said, I havent done much driving which means there may be funds that I wont be able to use for a long time if I dont take it for a spin.

          • @DamonT: A physical card is just more of a hassle. What happens if it gets lost in the post?

I used to keep $70 in two accounts. Fortunately I’ve still been driving regularly so have almost spent it all.

            • @sween64: I've been loading up on donuts …. mmmmmm donuts….

    • -2

Thanks! Just used up all the card credits.

  • Does anyone know if you can use the remaining balance to purchase a gift card for a different store at 7 eleven?

    • I tried to purchase a 7/11 physical card last time but apparently it doesn't allow it, so I guess this would also apply to other gift cards

    • Tried to buy a physical Amazon gift card and the payment method failed so I guest it's not an option.

  • Anyone else getting "error down for maintenance" on the app?

    • +1

      same here with me…

    • +3

Ditto. Who really takes down a system at 2pm on a weekday to perform maintenance.

      • +5

same fellas who offered free cake with validity coinciding downtime of said maintenance.

  • -1

It's the same the app is down. Is it the same with the play store app?

    • Yep. That free choc chip banana bread must have killed it. Seems to be back up and running now though.

  • +1

Anyone get an error logging into the app (normal app, not the apk)? Error code foxtrot

    • -1

      Should be back up now.

    • +2

Yes I am getting the same error

    • I am getting Foxtrot error too since the morning.

  • -1

Has the login started to work?

  • -1

The app is kinda working now but I can't sign in for love or money, either using Freighter's APK or the stock latest one (on another phone). Got $40 left on the app that I'm desperate to pay down before I forget about it…

    • Same can't seem to be able to login

  • +5

    Wow down for maintenance again…

  • Finally able to login! On another note, it’s not even end of day yet but looks like the free choc chip banana bread offer has been replaced with a $1 banana bread lol classic

  • Just locked in 91 at Orange NSW for 89.6c and went to the local servo in VIC and my voucher was rejected. Clerk saying there was an error with my discount code, he scanned 3 times. He then started asking where I got the lock and that it only works if it's locked and bought in the same state. Anyone got any ideas?

    • +7

That sounds entirely made up by the clerk as that defeats the purpose of 7-11 fuel lock program. Did you get the receipt to claim back form the 7-11 head office?

      • +1

I successfully used an interstate lock yesterday so unless something has changed in the last 24 hours, I agree with griffy. You should definitely put in a claim.
Having said that, I locked mine in a few days before I used it, so it is entirely plausible that I have had enough time to come back from interstate an use it locally. But if you lock in a price from interstate and use it 10 minutes later, it is a bit obvious that you are using a location spoofer, and some attendants will pick up on that.

        • even in the today's climate of hardborders ? Eg. locked NSW but pumped in WA/

          • @abcdefcuk: I locked in NSW and used in Victoria (3 days later), worked fine. No way for them to prove I was not in NSW 3 days ago.

        • Yeah I should've said in the first comment that I locked last night and tried to use at this arvo. So I should wait a bit longer then?

        • +4

Just locked-in in Qld and used in ACT 5 mins later, no problems encountered at all.

      • +6

Yeah, I did I've emailed them. Thanks.

EDIT: I received an email back saying "We have confirmed that you should have received a discount of $6.03 for your fuel purchase. I have topped up your account with $7.00 to cover the discount, plus a little extra"
Pretty good customer service if you ask me

        • -1

I usually name some obscure suburb past the CBD if they ask - not like they're gonna check. Which store?

        • -1

great outcome! thanks for reporting back.

    • +1

I had problems too last week. Got 2 account and would not accept either voucher and she showed me the till and it said voucher had been already used dispite never having used them. O well let's see if I can claim it.

Just found easy way to send claim. Setting / missed discount and you take photo of your receipt and it produces email for you. App did not attach photo for some reason so make sure its attached or attache it.

  • Was wondering if anyone can offer a solution to 7-eleven app connectivity through Nox. It was working fine till about a couple of weeks ago, the app has no connectivity through Nox. Playstore doesnt connect either but the browser works fine (Shows certificate errors but allows me to proceed)

    • +4

Got it work. Enabled bridge connections in Nox settings. Hope it helps anyone facing the same issue

  • -13

how do people make this work on an IPhone?

    • Need to jailbreak. You can jailbreak if you’re on iOS 13.5.

  • Had issues with trying to lock on another account with the mod apk so I decided to go back and use the Freyta alternative. While there is detailed installation instructions for Android I was wondering what is required just to perform an update if you have it already installed? It wouldn't work for me right away and I hadn't used it for a while so I ended up doing a full install.

  • +16

Just received the below email - I wonder if this is the end of the remote price locking?! I hope not…

Big things are happening with the 7‑Eleven Fuel App. On 17 June it will be upgraded to our new My 7‑Eleven App. With an improved design, it makes it easier than ever to lock in our best local fuel price and redeem exclusive offers with just one scan through our new My Card.

The Fuel App will be offline from 14 June at 11:59pm until 17 June. During this time you will not be able to redeem any app-exclusive deals or fuel price locks. However if you have any active Fuel Price Locks, these will appear when My 7‑Eleven comes online.

    • Got the same……

I too am wondering the same……

    • +2

Will have to wait until the new app gets modded. If it's even possible. Hopefully it's not the end :(

    • +2

Worst case scenario Android users can still install root module that fake the GPS. But I hope it wouldn't come down to that.

      • They've blocked it currently already without the modified APK (root detection and Mock location detection)
I was thinking we could always use bluestacks/NOX for the time being, but then again, they could make it only lock for that particular device only.
and then I thought further, they'd probably lose more business by changing this over because I know a lot of people that would use other brands if it was the same price as 7/11. It'll be interesting!

        • Are you sure? In the previous version of 7-eleven app, XPrivacyLua worked for me. Magisk Hide can pretty much blocks an app from detecting root. That was before I knew there was a modded app that works with mock location.

          • @juns: I'm not 100% sure, but I remember it got to a stage where I got Magisk hide working and I couldn't get it to stop detecting Mock Location. I wasn't aware XPrivacyLua worked for mock detection? They might also add safetynet detection which would make it very hard without a modded APK

            • @cheapass88: Ok, so what you've been using is the developer tool's mock location. XPrivacyLua is a root module that has capabilities to fake permission access (file, camera, phone, sms, contact etc) and sensors (GPS) on system level. That is the most extreme level you can do if all else fails and I don't think 7-eleven would be able to detect such thing.

              • @juns: Oh right, I do have the app, however, I've never tried it with this as I assumed ticking "get location" would also not allow the app to detect the fake location as well.

              • @juns: I tried xprivacylua without luck as i thought.

        • +1

If u are using PC run fuel lock tool on docker. Easy to setup, no need of mock location, 7 eleven app

          • @georgev: We're not talking about currently but for the new 7 11 app.

          • @georgev: Yeah that's a better alternative, but there's no telling whether the API is going to change with the new app.

            • +2

@juns: The email I received today has this last paragraph:

Once maintenance mode has finished you will be asked to upgrade the Fuel App to My 7‑Eleven using the same username and password as the Fuel App. If your device is currently running Android Operating system 8 and below or IOS 11 and below you will be asked to install the most recent version.

I believe that they still need to allow the old app to be working for sometime at least so that those devices using Android 8 or below and iOS 11 or below will still be able to use the app

This may means that the existing API will still somehow work, but it needs to modify the "Android Version" to Android 8

  • Anyone remember when the 'My Card" credit has to be redeemed by?

    • +6

14th June is the last day to redeem the credit. After that, there will be some way to transfer the credit to a physical gift card.

  • +8

Notification in the app that it is changing from '7-Eleven' to a new fuel app and will be in 'maintenance mode' between 15th and 17th June (so fill up before then)

    • +5

Maybe the last chance to fly the helicopter, hopefully I can still fly!

    • +3

      Email also just received:

From 11:59pm 14 June 2020 the 7‑Eleven Fuel App will be put into maintenance mode until 17 June 2020 whilst the App is upgraded to My 7‑Eleven. During this maintenance period you will not be able to use the App until it is back online as My 7‑Eleven.

Any Fuel Price Locks not redeemed by 11:59pm 14 June 2020 when the Fuel App is put into maintenance will be available once My 7‑Eleven comes online. All Offers in the Fuel App will expire 11:59pm 14 June 2020.

Once maintenance mode has finished you will be asked to upgrade the Fuel App to My 7‑Eleven using the same username and password as the Fuel App. If your device is currently running Android Operating system 8 and below or IOS 11 and below you will be asked to install the most recent version.

We thank you for your patience during the upgrade.

  • +1

I use NOX and it is only android 7 , so I will not be able to use it with the new app :(

    • If my understanding is right, this is even better because they will keep the old app running to accommodate Android 8 or below
Meaning that the current mod apk (latest version) will still able to run for sometime

  • +1

They still haven't specified exactly how we can transfer our credits to a gift card right? I still have some credits in my account…

    • +3

Take a screenshot of your gift card balance, just incase things go wrong. I took a screen shot of my balance.

      • +1

        Good call

    • +10

I have 2 accounts both with credit - They mentioned transfer in the last email - 'If you still have funds remaining on your My 7‑Eleven Card after 14 June 2020, you won’t lose them. We will arrange with you to transfer those funds to a 7‑Eleven physical Gift Card which you will then have until 14 June 2023 to spend in store. You will receive an email soon detailing how to transfer your remaining funds to a 7‑Eleven physical Gift Card.' - I didn't receive any email yet.

I just logged into my profile to ensure they have my current address in case they decide to do a mailout. One of my accounts had no address associated! Might be a wise move to update that?

      • +1

Excellent suggestion. Thank you. I just updated my address.

      • Agreed. Excellent suggestion.

  • -8

I had under $10 on 2 accounts so just decided to do a petrol top up rather than going through the hassle. $0.01 and $0.02 left on both accounts now!

    • -3

I find it strange as well that the giftcard cannot be used to the last cent.
Emptied one of my account and pay the remainder by card, and find out there's still 2c balance

  • +1

Diesel 99.7c Hassall Grove, NSW 2761 - Get to the choppa quick before they update the app!! ;)

  • -4

Looks like login is down for the app. Last day to use funds on the card and can't! If still logged in don't log out!

  • +1

Filled up yesterday and used the last of my credit, hoping this update does not mean the end but it’s been so great to have this all this time. Huge thanks

  • Are you able to use the app credit to but a gift card instore?
Save them mucking about and probably stuffing up anyway.

    • +2

I tried but was told that it wasn't possible.

      • Thanks, was hoping they would have come to a compromise considering.

  • +15

Agreed! hopefully this isnt the end but a huge thank you to the people that made it possible for us battlers to save a couple bucks!

    • +1

Agree. I filled up both cars and three jerry cans for the lawn mower and line trimmer. Was great while it lasted.

    • +1

more than couple bucks I have saved

    • +16

We've saved hundreds over the years. Very thankful.

The best bargain by far for me was a few weeks ago when I was able to fill up all of our cars from empty for $0.83/L… For 98.

    • +54

      You're welcome.

We'll see what happens in the future.

      • +6

Fingers crossed the ride will continue, its been fun

      • +6

Thank you Freighter and Master. Appreciate the hard work. :)

      • Thanks again for your great work!!

        Just from a technical perspective
When they release a new app
Is it very hard to decode the app and mod it?

        • +1

Depends what sort of protections they put into the app really. We will have to wait and see. Some apps are far easier to modify than others.

        • +26

Is it very hard to decode the app and mod it?

In general and for different apps, for me it depends how much it is obfuscated and what I am trying to achieve with a certain app. For the 1.5.2 version of the 7-Eleven app (the first one released on here) the hardest part that I didn't know was that I needed my own Google Maps API key. After modding that one to enable the fake GPS apps and being able to read how the code works (they forgot to obfuscate it) it really helped in later versions to see what the code was doing.
For instance, just before this new app got announced I was pretty much on the verge of releasing my own settings page in the app, similar to the Account Details part where you can click on it and it shows you your username/email/d.o.b etc etc. But here's a snippet of the difference between the version 1.5.2 and version 1.10.0 code that both do the same thing:

          Version 1.5.2

          private void getAccountDetails() {
          this.accountDetailsList.setVisibility(8);
          this.accountDetailsErrorView.setVisibility(8);
          this.loadingSpinner.setVisibility(0);
          VolleyApiFactory.getInstance().accountTsApi().getAccountDetails(new VolleyResponseActionAdapter(new BaseVolleyAction<AccountDetailsResponse>() {}
          more code goes here blahblah
          }

          Version 1.10.0
          private void D() {
          this.K.setVisibility(8);
          this.M.setVisibility(8);
          this.L.setVisibility(0);
d.i().a().a(new e(new a())); # This part here actually calls another function but is the same code that is the VolleyApiFactory from 1.5.2 on the 4th line from above
          }

As you can see, the code is quite a bit different to read, but if you can compare the 2 then you can see what is actually happening. In saying all of that, I've looked at the 7-Eleven source code enough to know in general what they are trying to do (between versions nothing really changes). The hardest part is identifying what the unnamed variables are (i.e. this.A, this.B, this.C, this.D etc).

But in all honesty, modifying an app isn't that difficult if all you are doing is removing a simple check for mock locations or root detection, it just takes a bit of time to find where everything is. I've uploaded tutorials on here in the past you can read and do it for yourself as well.

edit: I realise, this probably isn't exactly what you were asking but if you want a better/more of an explanation let me know

          • +1

@Freighter: I learned reverse engineering apk for a couple of days and then I gave up…

            Thank you Freighter.

          • +3

@Freighter: Thanks Freighter. You keep improving the app for us all to fly in our helicopter easier. Best version is when we do it all within the app :)

Hope this trend will continue and your helpfulness awesome!

          • @Freighter: A excellent explanation!

          • +1

@Freighter: I feel like you're Lenny and I'm Carl talking about the Stonecutters (except I have no idea what you're talking about, and 7/11 spies are Homer)

In other words, it's cool to see how you achieve this, but does it slightly play your hand if the devs were to read this?

If not, We Doooo, We Dooooooo

  • +46

Thanks a lot Freighter and Master. You guys have saved me heaps over the years. If this is the end it's been a great run. Very thankful.

  • +3

another thanks to Freighter and Master it has been awesome

  • Thanks, guys., appreciate the great work. Saved heaps. Hope it is not you guys that forced 7-Eleven to revamp their App :-)

  • +3

Not sure why everyone is foreshadowing the end of an era. From the email:

With an improved design, it makes it easier than ever to lock in our best local fuel price and redeem exclusive offers with just one scan through our new My Card.

Emphasis mine, the fuel lock functionality will still be there. We can still fake our location. Modding an app might be harder for the Android folk but someone smart will find a way.

    • Just being 2020 and all I guess they are geared for the worst now… :)

    • Worst case is we all fly the real helicopter LOL
My 2cents is as long as the api still works
It should be a way to get it working, finger cross

    • -1

Them "making it easier than ever to lock in" is more than likely code for fundamentally changing the way it's done, especially considering the maintenance period is so long. We will have to wait and see re: GPS.

      • It’s hard to guess, will see
The 3 days might be making sure the new app works fine on production, as they need to ensure old app data still flow through to new app

    • They could change it so that it only allows for locks to be used local to where they were actually locked, not saying they will but just one quick example of a change they could make that could theoretically make it hard to use it how we have traditionally. Only time will tell though, hopefully, we still get to use the app how we have been, it's probably better for them to make a little bit of money out of us as opposed to none if we take our business elsewhere, not sure if they will see it that way though.

      • -1

That defeats the whole point of having the locks at all if it only works for your local 7 eleven

        • -1

For us, mostly yes, but not for how it was originally intended i.e. people playing their local (not the one store but the several closest) price cycles.

          edit I didn't neg

  • For those that still have existing balance
The 7-11 website has the link to claim for physical gift card

    https://wwws-au1.givex.com/cws4.0/m7eleven/

I have tried but seems the login failed due to the upgrade to new app, should be working again after new app release on the 17 June 2020

    • +9

Not saying you're a scammer, but people should be cautious when clicking on links that require you to login with an account that has monetary values.

I would wait for the official email from 7-eleven

      • +11

This link is from the 7-11 homepage
        https://www.7eleven.com.au/

(Click on the Full Site at the bottom if using mobile)

        • +1

          Thanks for the sauce!

      • Good point! I think 7/11 should have used a URL/subdomain on their own website as it looks pretty damn dodgy.

    • -1

      wwws-au1.givex.com

This link is fkning Shaddy as hell. I wouldn't trust this link at all.

  • -6

I just noticed the new app is on google play store

  • +2

Just got my helicopter serviced in the down time !
Ready to fly from tomorrow - hopefully :)

  • App updated via App Store
But still says - our new app will be here soon
Interface looks updated. New logo and all ..

  • +1

From the screenshots in the Appstore
seems like the new app is using one barcode per account
and fuel lock is associated with that account (instead of the pervious 7-days valid barcode)

Checked on the App version history
Apple app store has already updated to the new app (16 June)
Google play store was still last updated on 5th June

    • Wow, surprised the app is so highly rated on both google and apple store…

Gonna be interesting for those who have android 8 or lower as it won't allow them to install the app at all.

      • I believe they intended to use the same app bundle id
so for those who are on Android 8 or iOS 11, they will be using the latest version 1.10.2044
while anyone else will be forced to update to 2.0 (the new app)

        • +1

No dice. Old version takes me to play store with a message "this app is no longer compatible with your device"

    • Hm, Looks very similar, just some slight graphical changes and they changed the app name to "my 7-eleven."

Surely there must be some underlying framework changes in the backend too? Otherwise this sorta stuff could've easily been pushed in a normal update.

      • Gone are the Store Finder and Our Fuels tabs

  • +15

    Ok so…

Changing app version in the Python script to 2.0.0 allows you to login, old version numbers (so the old app) can no longer login.

After logging in you can still create a fuel lock to the goodcall API, however the new version off the app seems to use an API on app.api.7eleven.com.au, which I haven't fully figured out yet.

This means you can lock in with the script successfully, but you cannot see this lock in the app. I would recommend Noone try to create a lockin using just the python script for now to the old API, as it would be a great way for them to see invalid accounts.

    Login is handled at auth.7eleven.com.au

Will keep playing around during the day, can't do much at 5am on bed on my phone lol

    • I can confirm that the Fuel price for store API is still working
Meaning that at least atm project03 should still able to find the cheapest fuel store (and their geolocation)

    • Hi, thanks, May I know how do you change change the app version to 2.0.0? Cheers

      • +1

Edit your settings.py, there is an app version parameter :)

    • Sounds promising we may be able to get the Python script back up and running soon! Thanks for taking a look.

Is changing the API as rudimentary as the app version change, I would assume it is much more complicated though?

  • +3

I can confirm that fuel lock on iOS (ios 13.5) still works perfectly via the xcode method after upgrading to new 7-11 app (2.0.0.10867). Just locked in both 91 and 98 on my two accounts.

    • Worked for me on iOS using Relocate tweak in jail broken iOS 13.3.

    • Have you been able to redeem them?

  • Is anyone having issues logging in to the new app (iOS) with their existing account details?

    • Yes, failed login on the first try, then worked when I tried again.

      • I just tried reinstalling the app as well as resetting credentials.
I get the email from the password reset and it says

        Hi,

Unfortunately, you can't use that email. Please try again with a different e-mail.

        • For what it’s worth
On any of my 3 accounts that all worked on Saturday, I get

          Error G09

        • Same here. Must be some sorta glitch.

    • No, logged in first time with existing credentials

    • Logged in without issue.

  • BlueStacks can't find the new app.

FakeGPS location recognized in Android latest app.
    Message:

    Uh oh!
We've detected your location isn't true. To continue, please correct your location.

    • How can we by pass this? looking for some android apps

  • I logged in with one of my accounts that had a fuel lock but cant see the barcode.

    • +4

You scan your “my card” to redeem offers and fuel lock

      • To add to that, the fuel lock and membership barcodes are now combined into one.

        • +1

Says New Version Available, Takes me to Playstore, then back. Are we meant to un/reinstall?

          • +1

@capslock janitor: As you likely have the modded ap you probably need to uninstall first as it wasn't installed through Google Play.

  • +7

I can't even update the damn app as I'm running on android 8.

    • +1

      Same :(

I've been meaning to install android 9 custom rom on my Samsung s7… Looks like nows a good time

  • I want to know how I can convert my credit to a gift card or have it refunded.

    • There’s a web link, but currently my login isn’t working.

      • Neither are any of ours. On the website it stats "Your log in details have been previously provided via an email from fuelappgiftcard.7eleven.com.au. Not received your log in? Contact us at 1800 497 209". We didnt receive an email on any of our accounts so would say they probably expect everyone to call to get the login details

        • I think it'll be a different login to the one from the 7-11 app. I haven't received an email yet. Has anyone? I'll give them a few more days in case they are still working it out.

          • +1

@skid: I got an email with explicit instructions and link to that website.

You dont need to wait for the email tho, just do a forgot password and they'll send you a temp one.

            • @CodeXD: That's what I ended up doing.

Would be nice if they mentioned how long it might take to receive the gift card.

All they asked was to update the contact details and they will send the card out. But when?

  • Merged from New 7/11 App "My 7-Eleven" Does Not Work with Nox

I am no longer able to lock in fuel using the Nox emulator following the update today. It appears that the app no longer supports Android 7.1.2. Does anyone know any alternatives to Nox?

    • +3

      Same with BlueStacks

      • Is there any other simulator with Andriod 9.0 above working now for 7/11 ?

    • +9

Im not going to give it all away but here is the 911 on the 711 app for how you really sort this out (haven't tested it on the new app yet, but im sure it will work)

Previously my trick was to decompile the app, remove the location restrictions, remove certificate pinning, replace the maps API key and recompile and sign the app with your new signature. Then I had a side app I made which would scan all of the 711 stores for the cheapest price, get the geolocation of the store, set the mock geolocation on the device to that one, fire up the 711 app and you would lock in like normal.

Alternatively, there was an open source project for the old app that had reverse engineered the entire api and you could lock in from that, then use an uncracked app. Sure you had to host it but it was ultimately a bit easer than the previous option and didn't die every time they decided to kick you off.

      • +1

Wow that's very informative. I remember reading a reverse engineering guide for 7-Eleven by Freyta a while back. I have a few questions:

        1. What software do you use to decompile the apk? JADX?
        2. How/Why do you have to disable certificate pinning?
        3. Is signing the app necessary?
        • +11
          • Asks pointed questions about how the app is reverse engineered
          • Marked as "Associated"

          Hmmmm…. *thumbs chin*

      • +2

        You mean 411?

        • +3

They gave you 500 for free! You should take it!

    • +17

I mentioned months ago that a friend who worked for the company who develops the app was working on an update which would lock out third party programs and services that can trick your location etc. I was downvoted to oblivion when i made the comment.

They have spent months rebuilding the app from the ground up among other changes it checks your location when you pay for fuel etc and detects if you have changed permissions on your device etc, if any of the required conditions are not met the app will not allow you to use it.

You also can not use the locked in price if you are not in the same region (i am not sure how they qualify what the region is) as where it was locked in.

(Have not ticked "associated" as i do not think it qualifies as he works for an app development company not 7/11 but if mods think i am then they can update it)

      • +9

I remember this comment, however at the time you actually claimed they were removing the fuel lock feature all together. They haven't.

You now claim they have set the new app up to deny locks that were locked in different "regions", we've already seen people successfully spoof a lock in NSW and claim in QLD. I'm assuming a different state would be a different "region". This claim also appears to be untrue.

I'm not trying to be rude, you may well have "inside information", but forgive us for being a bit sceptical.

    • +3

You also can not use the locked in price if you are not in the same region (i am not sure how they qualify what the region is) as where it was locked in

Interesting as within a week it is easy to be from Melbourne but in Sydney and even up to Brisbane.

      • The FAQ on the new app still says that you can redeem the fuel lock on any 7 Eleven store Australia-wide. One might have a case to raise a complaint if they can legitimately show that they locked the price in Sydney and were prevented from using it in Melbourne (for eg).

      • Just had a quick scan of the conditions and there was nothing to say you had to redeem in any particular location. This doesn't preclude them from checking behind the scene and suspending/cancelling suspect accounts though.

    • It appears the app no longer supports Android 8.1 either.

      • I guess I'm just going to uninstall it then… Most android apps only require ~4.4

        • +1

Says on app store Android 9 and above. Lucky I have an Android One phone.

But it is pretty stupid as a simple piece of research can show what versions people are on. I'd suspect a lot of people would be on 7 & 8 consider a new version comes out every year and people keep their phones on average 2 - 3 years.

    • +5

Properly we need to wait another it guys to make another hack version

    • +11

One hell of a ride while it lasted though.

    • +2

I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. Guess I'll get more use out of my jerry cans, it seems to work out cheaper anyway if you only fill up at the bottom of the cycle and stack a few discounts.

      • If it's true then yes, back to Caltex/WW for me with discounts.

    • +2

If you're an associate then you should be the one sharing how to around around it 😛

    • -1

There'll be a way as always.

    • +1

Does anyone know where all the credit/money went with the new app?

      • +1

They sent me an email about a month ago saying it'll be given to you in the form of a gift card. I don't know the process so check your email, thankfully I spent all my credit before they removed it

      • Go to the 7-eleven website and claim your balance back from there.
Just need to log into your account.

      • Check your junk mail, I got an email from them that was in junk, with an easy to follow set of instructions for mailing my remaining balance to me on a physical gc

          • @danielxleet: Is this on iPhone? Can't find it in app store…
Would you mind sharing the link please?

            • @KahJih: You need to JB and install Cydia first.

          • @danielxleet: How are you bypassing the JB detection?

      • Would also like to know which jailbreak app you managed to get working with it. Mine has the jailbreak detection pop up :(

      • How'd you get around detection? The suggested Liberty Lite Beta isn't working anymore to bypass detection.

Edit: Figured it out, Liberty Lite Beta still works however it seems like they're using some sort of one flag per install system. If you click on "My card" while jailbroken it seems to do additional checks and ends up blocking the app from opening again. However you can get around it by reinstalling it and logging back in. Not sure if the account gets flagged as well, but just avoid opening your 7/11 card in app for the meantime until further bypasses are found.

        • +1

          Install FlyJB to bypass detection
          Successfully locked into North Ryde

          • +1

@rzrz: Looks like the FlyJB repo was taken down :(

            • +4

@dsar: Yep, I couldn't find a reliable .deb either so I gave up on using FlyJB. Apparently sometimes it caused battery drain issues so I doubt it would've been viable for daily use.

Instead I found the jailbreak bypass Shadow working for me! You can find the repo here (thank you /r/jailbreak redditors):
              https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SGW7FEeOoay11mv33HT9…

I'm using both Liberty Lite Beta and Shadow together (not sure if required, but works for now), I checked "Enable Advanced Filters" under Dynamic Libraries and generated a file map before respringing from Shadow settings. Logged back in, moved to a new location with Relocate and viola it worked! No longer crashes when I click on My Card either.

              • @ktek: Is both Liberty Lite Beta and Shadow both active on the 7 eleven app? The shadow app is by the best I've used. Thanks for that. Looks like the only issue I have is that the 7 eleven app is still somehow using my real location despite relocate working fine on Gmaps. And yep, doesn't crash when clicking on my card either.

                • +1

@dsar: I have the same issue with it using real location too, but the trick is to disable Shadow to change location and lock in, then close the app and re-enable Shadow so you can redeem with your card. You should have Liberty enabled on 7eleven all the time, seems like it works 90% of the time and Shadow bypasses the remaining 10% (or a little too much since it even uses the real location).

                  • +1

@ktek: Wow it worked. Thanks a ton @ktek

      • Did you fill up?

    • Hope a workaround is found, have enjoyed getting slurpees with my cheap fuel.

My balance has disappeared from the new app, and no email about how to recover it. Hrmm!

    • +8

I only started getting fuel at 7/11 because of this app, even though it's far away from where I live or work. I understand why they updated but they should be smart and let people do it anyway - more business to them rather than the competition

    • +1

Still running an S7 so can't use it at all now which is disappointing as we rely on this app which consistently gets us cheaper vs local prices.

      • I also have an S7, Its running custom android 8.0.0 which i understand isn't compatible any more, I'll wipe my phone and put android 9.0.0 on it over the next few days and Magisk and see how i go. Will let you know.

        • Planning to do the same on my S7.

Downloaded blackdiamond N8 Pie and I'll see how I go tomorrow after work

then there were a few steps to get it working, I had to systemize my GPS app etc. (same as last time)
If you want to know details i can link you to the exact guide i used (made for pokemon go, Ninantic have got more money than 7-11) , just PM me as i'm not sure if i'm allowed to post here?

Thanks to josephnds for the reddit link!

                • +1

@CodeXD: Nice! honestly, i dont think they'll ever be able to lock it down, just too many people playing Pokemon go remotely to not have a slick workaround to GPS.

                • @CodeXD: Do i need to have a custom rom for it to work? I have a HTC U11 rooted on official Android 9. I have the TWRP installed as well as Magisk. Thanks in advance.

                  • @dealsucker: No it does not have to be custom rom. There is no stock android 9 available for S7 so we've all gone the custom route.

If you already have all those installed, then you just to get the GPS app, and systemize with magisk module. I tried the systemizer but not sure if it worked as I couldnt see it in priv-app folder. I actually manually copied the gps app from data/app and updated the permissions accordingly.

                    More detailed write up here

                    • @CodeXD: Thanks a bunch mate. Will try that and update here.

                    • @CodeXD: Legend. Thanks for the update. Will go down the same route.

    • Hi Op are you "associated" with 7/11?

      • +2

Hasn't even been a member of the OzBargain community for a whole day.

        Probably a 7/11 snitch.

        • I work there and have used Nox to get cheaper fuel for almost a year. Everything ends ig.

    • Take a look at the play store rating and reviews, thousands of peoples are complaining about the new app.

    • its a sad day for the ozb community

    • Also i had a price lock in before the app updated from another state, its still showing i have an active fuel lock but its not showing the barcode to scan :/

      • +3

Barcode is in "my card" now.

    • +2

It's probably a drop in the ocean to them but wish we could see if this has any miniscule effect on their fuel sales stats.
Less of us 'savvy' users but more on their books from selling at higher prices in areas.

Looking at my current car, I used 7-Eleven fuel 74% of the time over it's 53710km life (39556km total on 7-Eleven fuel), purely because I could get the best price.
You can bet that it won't be anywhere near that much of a sway now.

    • Yeah my phone android 7 and is not compatible, will have to use my wifes phone

    • Does anyone try different simulator with andriod 9.0 above to lock in ??

      • I just locked in, in another state, Android 9 running custom ROM with Systemized GPS. Can confirm still viable,

        • Is that on your S7? I'm reading up on it now and gonna do it soon haha

          • @CodeXD: Yep, its fairly easy, especially if you've already put a custom ROM on and have TWRP installed already. took me a couple of hours to fumble through it.
have a look at the Pokemon GO spoofing guide on reddit, that's a better community dealing with tougher countermeasures.

        • Fueled up this morning Locked in NSW and claimed in QLD

    • Could anyone advise me on how to find the Cheapest 7-11 Prices from around The Country?

      • Google Project zero three

    • How do I recover money that I had deposited into the 7Eleven app without providing them my home address?

    • +5

Any deal on tesla now that we cannot get cheap fuel?

    • +4

I wonder how many customers 7-Eleven will lose after this app update, especially during COVID-19 where people are being more conscious about where and who their dollar goes to.

    • Was trying fake gps with new 7/11 app
It shows please use ture location

    • +1

I've been able to get an emulator sort of running but does require some tinkering.
The issue i have now is getting fuel locked in.

I'm faced with Error E01, i'm thinking this might be Imei related as Android Studio doesn't auto generate an Imei.

      • Yeah same with me. I've tried using Android Studio Emulator and also get Error E01.

    • Android users seem to be upset over location spoofing blah blah.
Fair enough. I am iPhone user and pissed because for each type of fuel, I have to customs search every time preselecting that fuel first.
Earlier, u searched once and then simply drop down would show cheapest price for all types of fuel. Which means sometime used to get 95 cheaper than 91 😞
Did someone notice that as yet?

    • new apps is hard to use and my money is gone. Not sure how much I had left. They should warn it.

Anyway my iPhone cant run it anymore now but I don't want update the iso……

      • They should have sent you and email to update your details and they will send you a gift card with balance on it

      Android 9.0+ - what a joke!
      Bye Bye fuel app :(

      • +4

Yeah, for example the latest Australia Post catalog shows 7 phones with Android version numbers, 5 of which are version 9.0, and 2 of which are below (versions 8.1 and 8.0). So even some new phones purchased now don't meet the requirements. And for existing devices, for example in my immediate family, only 1/3rd of people have a phone with new enough version of Android to run this. There's a huge installed base of devices that simply cannot run this app.

And if there was some massive new functionality, I could perhaps understand it. But the new version does exactly what the old version did. It might look a little bit better, but nobody cares, and there's no new user functionality.

7-eleven's primary concern seems to have been preventing things like Nox from running. But the number of users doing that must have been frankly tiny. Even if they do succeed, those people will just go to Woolies or independents now. And all the ancillary benefits are then gone. E.g. I would frequently buy snacks (at I'm sure significant margins), when I was in a 7-eleven, and I was only there in the first place because of a fuel lock.

Besides, one low-tech way to solve this would be to have a network of actual physical phones covering Australia. Just need people who live in the right locations. Each time a lock happens it checks the nearest 5 stations. 7-eleven have around 551 petrol stations. So 110 phones would cover Australia. Then automate logging in, locking, and locking out. Since the phones are physically there, no amount of OS or app location checks will prevent their location from being what it actually is. And since accounts now have zero value / zero stored credit, there's really no downside to sharing login details.

So I don't get it. They've excluded a large installed base of potential users, for no new functionality, for a small problem, forgoing all the ancillary benefits, and people will find a way around it anyway.

        • There is still a limit of how many locks you can have per phone. Even if you use a different account.

For those who are more tech savy or just want to give it a try, josephnds posted instructions to update android phones to android 9 custom roms. You will still need to do some research, make sure there is android 9 custom rom available for your phone in the first place etc but it will generally work for older popular phones.

        • Possibility that 9.0 Pie has less security exploits relative to 8.0. Remember, the app/platform was hacked mid last year and a ton of credits where stolen.

          https://techbeacon.com/security/7-elevens-7pay-app-hacked-da…

        • So I don't get it.

You forgot about the price mistakes or occasions when 95/98 is the same price as E10. I can easily see each instance costing 7/11 125k or more (50c/L discount, 50L tank, 2500 people locking in/filling up and locking in again). Just go back an search how many times it happened in the past year.

During normal operation, I don't think the fuel lock costs 7/11 that much.

I'm not saying 7/11 did the right thing, just that they had to do something.

    • +11

Would have lasted a lot longer if upvote-chasing numpties on this forum didn't keep posting 'deals' about it.

    • Previously, under Find stores, i can look up to prices in other areas. This Has now gone.

Can only see prices via Lock prices at local area.

    • locked up a decent price for diesel on the legacy app right before they released the new app. After upgraded to the new app, the locked price still showed up there (valid till 23 June). It was rejected this morning when I tried to use it. Been told it's not valid.

      • What …………..??? did they offer the same price even the barcode not working ???

        • nah, they didn't offer the discount price.

      • I am in the same situation, I will just go in with cash. They can take it or take my number plate

    • +1

I meticulously saved all my 'you saved $$$' messages throughout the campaign. All up I saved almost $1300 over the period.

Gentlemen it's been a privilege playing with you tonight.

    • Looks like back to Costco E10 fuel. They're usually as cheap as the nationwide 7-11 price

    • Since there seem to be a few like-minded individuals in here, I'll just post this: https://www.rtl-sdr.com/using-a-hackrf-to-spoof-gps-navigati…

I picked my HackRF up from AliExpress for about $100.

      • that is expensive to spoof… especially when there are free android apps available for you to do the same thing

EDIT: also not sure how illegal that is, and especially dangerous on the road to modify OTHER DRIVERS' GPS. Don't do this

        • +1

They're very low powered and you can adjust the gain. Why would I do it on the road?

Sorry for trying to offer a solution to your problems.

          • @picklewizard: The title of the article you linked

USING A HACKRF TO SPOOF GPS NAVIGATION IN CARS AND DIVERT DRIVERS

That's what I'm saying not to do. You can do whatever you want to your own device but don't mess with other people's

            • +1

@CodeXD: But I posted it in the context of "how to fake a location so your 711 fuel app can still be used" but whatever I hope the view is nice up there from your high horse

      • Do you have a link for the unit you got? Have you used it successfully?

    • +5

Okay, so I'm getting hammered by pm's. So here is a guide on how to spoof location in pokemon go. Mods please remove if inappropriate.

Here is the process as an FYI,
Do you have your Android phone on a custom ROM with root access? I only know android.
but the steps are as follows:
      Install TWRP
      backup phone
Download stock ROM in case you need to recover from soft brick
Install custom ROM (android 9.0.0 or higher)
      Use Magisk to hide Magisk
      Install Fake GPS program
Use Magisk to hide Fake GPS program
      Install terminal emulator
Systemize fake GPS program using terminal emulator
delete some folders associated with the un-systemized fake GPS program

Here is a good place to start if you dont know what all of this means. also have a look at XDA developers, its the best place for ROMS for your phone.

      https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonGoSpoofing/comments/9kzf4g/t…

dont Brick your phone, make sure you follow all of the instructions (there will be 10 -20 steps per step above) and do some additional research. This will trigger NOX and you will loose the ability to use Paywave on your phone ETC

Also consider supporting the Rom developer with your first saving. They put a lot of work in for little to no return.

      • If you lose Google Pay, that's a pretty big downside, surely? Once you get used to it, it's hard to go back.

        • +1

You can still use google pay if you stick to magisk. However, Samsung pay wont work as soon as knox is tripped

          • @CodeXD: Sweet. I use Google Pay since Samsung Pay is only compatible with Samsung devices, according to Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Pay#Compatible_devices , and I'm not using a Samsung, and even if was, I would still rather use something that works across the whole platform rather than being restricted to just one device manufacturer.

          • @CodeXD: I'd suggest using an older phone for this. You can pick up an S7 fairly cheap nowadays.

            • +1

@josephnds: I wouldn't recommend people buy phones to try this… the point of this is to make it work with your existing device.

Plus, if you were going to get a new phone may as well get one where stock android 9 is available.

      • Could it work to use this process on Android Studio Emulator with root access?

    • -6

Was this one of those things were you would of come out ahead if you simply found loose coins in the park instead of trying to beat the system?

      • +6

I typically save $ 5 -15 per tanks, sometimes up to and above $ 20. I can also play pokemon go in other countries from my loungroom

        • -6

Is this the rock bottom of ozB?

          • +2

            @[Deactivated]: Lol,
            Ability to overclock CPU
Extend phone life by upgrading to newest unsupported OS
            Ability to tweak battery usage
            Adblock built in
            Root access to phone
            Custom ROM with no bloatware
No location tracking data being fed back to Google
            Cheapest fuel in the country.
Can use apps that require locations elsewhere, POGO, Tinder, Wizards unite, etc.
            Sounds like rock bottom.
People pay $50 a year for costco

      • There's a guy who fixes their app when they update it. I download it and lock in the cheapest fuel. Took maybe 5 mins the first time to find the post/download the app etc, 2 mins the time it had a major update and 30secs every other time.

Fuel in my area is often about 20c/l more than the city, plus sometimes I fill up on high days because I like to just fill up when I'm lowish and going past the servo anyway. So I can save 40c+/l, or alternatively the 20c/l and I don't have to monitor fuel prices and my fuel levels as closely.

I haven't been buying fuel much lately and forgot they were taking it down, hopefully by the time I need fuel again there'll be a magical app again.

    • Looks like we reached a dead end, was fun while it lasted. Time to find cheaper fuel options.

    • This is disappointing

I have been using the hack since the day the app was released, did not even need to root at first.
How long has it been now, 4 years, saving about $15/week on one car, and maybe 2 years when I ran 2 cars. Would have saved close to $5000.
I see the new app no longer has the "Find a store" feature, the API that supported this was what ProjectThreeZero and others would have been using to scrape the prices.

7-11 went through a lot of changes to try to detect root and mock locations. I have had to move on from SGS3 to SGS5 as the min android versions changed. Android 8 with Magisk and Fake GPS worked well for me.
Now Android 9, so I flashed the SGS5 to Lineage Os android 9 but the new app will not let me login at all, Error A02.
I need to see the app work before I start adding root and mock location.
I do have some newer phones but not sure I want to mess with my daily, not much support for the Oppo phones.

I hope I can work this out soon or I will probably go back to just filling when cheap at the Caltex or BP up the road.

    • I have Android 9 using lineage on s4 but phone isn't rooted, do you think it works with the method?

  • -1

When logging into the python app , got the following error

    Oops, error:

All offers are redeemed by scanning a single barcode on My Card. That appears to be the biggest difference from a user point of view. That’s for fuel locks and in app junk food discounts.

I had no issues faking my location on jailbroken iOS 13.3 and locking in cheapest U91.

Project Zero Three hasn’t updated since 14th June.

    • how did you do your jailbreak? not working for me, it gets blocked

      • +3

If you’ve jailbroken by any 7-Eleven detects it. Use Liberty Lite Beta from https://ryleyangus.com/repo/ to block the detection.

        • Or FlyJB
It works on banking apps, Coles, 7-11

    • Which location faker are you using for iOS ?

      • -1

Location Faker repo: https://iOS.tweaks.fun/ works for me.

      • +1

        Relocate from https://alexpng.github.io/Nepeta-Mirror/ works

It has an occasional bug: when attempting to search for a suburb you can’t bring the cursor up in the search box. Tapping out and in usually fixes it or you can set a location by zooming and scrolling on the map. Otherwise is very powerful with blacklists and whitelists.

        • Remember to use "Global Override" instead of "Application Override".

          • @andylch: Why? You could use Application Override if you select My 7-Eleven, right?

            • @sween64: "Application Override" doesn't work on my iPhone 5s

              • @andylch: Works for me. Make sure you select Custom override after choosing a location.

Did they increase the password requirements for the new app? I reset my password so I can Reimburse to Physical Gift Card a few days ago but now it wants me to reset my password again because it doesn't meet their criteria.

Looking at the new app, looks like they've scraped all account details and now everyone is just a barcode to them. No way to even see your name or email address you're logged in as. A lot of us have multiple accounts to get multiple locks, so that's one downside to the new app.

The rest looks pretty much the same. Each account has its own barcode to scan for deals and fuel lock, but when you open the barcode it doesn't brighten your screen like it used to.

    • Any reason you reset password? I didn’t see a prompt to do so on the mobile website.

      • The app kept saying I had the wrong details even tho I reset it a few days ago. I always have a symbol in my password but from memory it didn't let me when I reset it the first time. Plus, there is now a requirement to have minimum 8 characters alphanumeric (must have upper and lower case) and symbol which I didn't have in my old password.

Or I could be mixing this up with a different password reset recently.. haha

    • I saw that link get posted the other day.

Was it communicated by 7-Eleven? I haven't seen it mentioned in their most recent emails.

      • +2

It is on the official 7-eleven website. I personally havent received any emails from them about the link tho

    Can't install on blustacks?

  • I had 2 accounts - can only login to one of them. The other one I get a G09 error. Trying to reset the password, the email received says unfortunately I cannot use that email.

Wondering if I left the app logged in and they traced the login and blocked this email…

    • I'm on the phone with them now about the same issue.
Looks like your account has been locked out. You will need to call them and they will raise a ticket with their IT team to resolve it.

      • Did they give an indication as to why it was locked out (ie spoofing detection or something else technical)? One of my locked one still has credit on it.

        • I think my 2 accounts that still had a lock are not available (might be a technical thing)? They both give the "you can't use this email".

Another account I had used with Bluestacks can be reset but this had not fuel lock on it.

Maybe they are having trouble with the transition.

          • @leyton01: Just had 2 of my accounts from the previous app banned as well.. Just have to make more accounts then. Annoying!!

Some quick conclusions after some test:

    1. v1 API is still currently on, check price API still works
    2. most likely they did a one-time accounts migration (together with the fuel locks), when locking fuel using v1 from today will no longer show in the new app
    3. new app use oauth2 login, this is much harder than v1 to hack as it requires 2 way handshake using authorisation code to claim the bearer access token
    4. if you use the v1 API to lock fuel now, it won't show in new app as this happens after the migration, new fuel lock is associated with the new identity system (with new account ID / barcode)

Possible fuel locking in the future:
    1. if v1 API still runs, project03 should still get updated with good price
    2. If we can have the "remove mock location detection" mod apk, then lock fuel should still be possible on Fake GPS (or jailbreak / xcode hack on location for iOS)

    • Thanks for that. Good to know that project03 can still run. Based on what you just said, do you know if I can still lock fuel using one phone and have the same voucher show up on another phone?

FYI, If it helps anyone, I use a rooted Android phone running Magisk to hide root and run GPS Joystick as a system app to get around the mock location detection. It is impossible to detect mock location with my setup, unless you put in server side distance cooldown shadow ban like Niantic…. :)

      • +3

Unless they put some check in the backend to check which phone you lock the price, otherwise I believe you should be able to lock price with one phone and show it in another phone, as long as they login with the same account

The barcode is basically just like a membership number and the lock is stored in your account. (Like how flybuys work)

        • That gave me an idea. Just store the membership barcodes somewhere else like StoCard. No need to log in and out to redeem offers.

          • @sween64: Yes that will work, as long as you still have a valid lock in your account :)

      • Can you test if you can still lock in price on a mock location on your "setup" and let us know if that works?

        • Yep, just tried to lock in the price at the Thornton station in NSW. It worked. The question now becomes, can I redeem the voucher in QLD?

          • +8

@geek001: I also just locked in Thornton as well and I will be going to try fill up this afternoon in QLD I will let you know if I get detected/refused service/banned.

            • @Bundybogan: Thanks mate.

              • +10

@geek001: Can confirm I have successfully filled up using the new 7/11 app and using a new NSW lock-in in QLD with no questions asked at the counter. I will post again if I get banned for it.

Nope. I downloaded the apk from appninjas site. Installed it, then use EX file explorer(in root mode) to move the app folder in /data to /system/priv-app folder. Doco says system folder could also be /system/app folder, so I guess if one doesn't work, try putting the app in the other folder. After that restart the phone, then enable "Enable system mode" option in the GPS joystick app. This option will only come up if the app has picked up that it is a system app. If you do not see this option, then the app is not registered as a system app properly or there is something wrong with your phone's bootloader. If that is the case, then you will need to use the systemizer plugin in Magisk.

BTW, I have 3 phones running in this setup, 2 on Android 9 LineageOS and one on Android 7 stock rom. I think you can guess why I have 3 phones setup for mock location. Lol.

        • On a side note related to Pogo, if you are getting a "device not compatible" message, it means that Pogo has picked up your device is rooted. If you are getting GPS signal not found error, then it has to do with your mock location. I am guessing when you say it didn't work on Android 9, the issue is the former. You will need to download rootbeerfresh app to check which part of your phone is being picked up as rooted so that you can "fix" the issue. I am guessing you will need to do the same thing if 7-11 app is using the same method as Pogo to pick up whether a phone is rooted.

          • +1

@geek001: I also downloaded the apk from appninja site, but I can't get "Enable system mode" option to work, always greyed out for me.

I use ES File Explorer - root mode - to do the whole permissions things but I'm guessing I messed something up? When I move it to the priv folder and restart my phone, the entire app disappears lmao

I am using a debloated Samsung S7 stock rom with magisk but think I'll give Android 9 a try and see if it works.

            Thanks for your help :)

            • +1

@CodeXD: Seems like you are not setting up the GPS joystick app as a system app properly.

I can tell you the steps that I did after rooting the phone:
Download and install ES File Explorer: https://www.cyanogenmods.org/es-file-explorer-pro-apk-downlo…
Open ES File Explorer, under Tools, I enable Root Explorer.
You will get a prompt to grant Superuser permission to ES File Explorer. Select Grant forever. If you do not get this prompt, then your phone is not rooted properly. I am not sure which app you use for rooting, but I only ever used Magisk, because it can hide root properly.
Move /data/com.theappninjas.fakegpsjoystick to /system/priv-app/com.theappninjas.fakegpsjoystick using ES File Explorer.
              Restart phone.

This is installed on a Samsung Note 3 phone running rooted stock Android 7.

              • @geek001: Yeah I've got it all set up and worrking on my android 7 phone, but not android 8 or 10 haha.

              • @geek001: Thanks for this! I got it working following this

              • @geek001: Hey, have you actualy tried to lock in fuel? I tried and got error E01. I got past mock location error and root detection…

              • @geek001: @geek001 ive sent you a private message

  • +2

After reading this comment, has anyone tried redeeming an interstate lock to see if it works?

This makes no sense to me…that would defeat the whole purpose of the feature if I can't use it in a different region (pending clarification).

    • +4

The purpose we use it for was different to how it was originally intended to be used ie being able to play the price cycle of the stores nearest to you.

      • -1

That's another purpose, but I'm going to assume most people (not just us on OZB) use it when they travel (especially long distance).

Can't expect people to only drive around their own little bubble near home.

    • I’ve locked but haven’t redeemed yet, won’t for another week at least as I’m not driving much.

    • +10

Just locked in NSW and I will be going to try fill up this afternoon in QLD I will let you know if I get detected/refused service/banned

    • +3

Can confirm I have successfully filled up using the new 7/11 app and using a new NSW lock-in in QLD with no questions asked at the counter. I will post again if I get banned for it.

      • +1

Thanks mate. Confirming I just used an interstate lock I had locked prior to the app update.

Attendant scanned twice and didn't work, but third time worked.

  • I am surprised that they are requiring a minimum of Android 9.
My basic B. phone for travelling is stuck on 8 so I guess I am SOL with that one

  • +3

So, in summary at the moment it seems that main change to the app is the aesthetics and the single barcode, also of note is that the "store finder" has gone.

Someone is reporting being able to lock on a ios (jailbroken) but spoofing and emulators don't work on the stock app for Android.

Now just waiting to see if someone who understands the backend can figure out if we can get around the spoofing detection.

    • +1

Mock location detection has been in the app for a while, including the old app

Freighter is the genius that remove the mock location detection on android and create the mod apk

So wait and see if he or someone is able to do the same in the new app, then Mock location will work again (given that they don’t do extra check on the backend when scanning the barcode at the store)

  • Does anyone use [email protected] type email and it says invalid customer login on the redeem your credit site? https://wwws-au1.givex.com/cws4.0/m7eleven/login/

    • +2

As mentioned before, it’s due to new password requirements. Reset password, set a new one with new conditions (8 alphanumeric characters, upper + lower case + number + symbol).

      Worked then.

Strangely enough, it only allowed me to enter my new address and said “once confirmed the physical balance will be sent”, but I couldn’t see a way to confirm…

      • +2

@dealhunger967671 I had the same problem, hopefully when you updated your address it 'confirmed' it

    • +2

Apparently, it is using the old password for the app login.
For claiming the monies, you will need to reset password and update address. Not sure if this will affect the app login password.

But for mine, i didn't have to put symbol. It accepted with 8 alphanumeric, upper+lower case and numbers.

      • Thanks Bazinga, looks like this may be the case.

      • oh wow you're right!

I have a different set of password for web log in compared to the app.

  • +2

Just tried using Nox and it says not compatible anymore.. maybe there is a newer version of nox hmm

    • Nox is only running Android 7, the new app requires Andorid 9 minimum. No Android emulator is running 9, so we're out of luck using that method until one does.

      Same applies for Bluestacks.

      • why aren't there?

  • +1

I'm lucky I locked in the lowest price in Vic before the update.
I can still use that locked in price on this new app

    • Does it actually work in store? Some people are insinuating that it can't be used if it isn't in the locks realm.

    • +1

I attempted to use an existing lock thismorning and he wasnt able to scan it. He called up the support line and said i had to call them and attempt to claim a missed lock

      • Bugger hopefully it was a case of the app still being new.

      • +1

You can still email missed lock on the app in the contact us section.

        • Yeah but thing is with that is they only give you credit on your next fill up still better then nothing, guess I'll see what happens with my existing lock when I use it later today

      • You need to scan your new card barcode. If you have any lock available you should be able to redeem.
if you scan the old barcode then it would not work.

        • +1

I did scan the new card barcode within the new app.
The attendant called up his support and they said they were unable to process it so sounds like a known issue

  • +2

Given very few Android phones run the latest version I wonder whether 7/11 realises that over half their Android installs won't be able to get the latest application.

If anyone gets a chance to check can you see if the barcode is dynamic like the old payments barcode that changes every 15 minutes.

    • +1

9 is the minimum, my phone runs 10. 11 is coming out soon.

Not sure what the reasoning is though, maybe some security feature

      • Even so, as of April 2020 Android version fragmentation is massive. https://9to5google.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2020/04/an…

      • where does it say android 9 is the minimum?
On the 7/11 website it says "iOS 11 and above or Android 8 (Oreo) and above"

        • I can't download the new app on Oreo.

        • +2

It is listed on the google app store

          https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.fuel7el…

Existing Fuel App members are able to log in using the same credentials they have previously. Please make sure you have operating system version 9 and above.

          • @CodeXD: I tried to get the new app on my Samsung phone running Android 7. When you do a search for 7 eleven fuel app, it doesn't come up in app store. If you try to install through the web, the device is greyed out, just fyi.

            • @geek001: Yep same thing on my Samsung S7 running Android 8.

Works on my backup phone running Android 10

          • @CodeXD: Thanks, strange their email said "If your device is currently running Android Operating system 8 and below or IOS 11 and below you will be asked to install the most recent version"

            • @ssjwill: Was this an unprompted email or you sent in a query about it? The new app was only released today so maybe the contact centre staff were unaware of the new requirement

              • @CodeXD: It was an email 7/11 sent before the upgrade took place (received on Thursday (11/6)

            • @ssjwill: The only way to install Andropid 9 is to hack your phone I think

  • Official email for reimbursement of $$

Previous emails have advised that the My 7-Eleven Card will be removed from the Fuel App from 11.59pm on 14 June 2020. We can see you still have money remaining on your card, which you won’t be able to access through the App after 14 June, so we want to ensure you can access those funds via a 7-Eleven Physical Gift Card!

    Here’s how:
Click ‘login’ below to enter the 7-Eleven gift card portal.
Click ‘send me my balance’ and sign in using the below login credentials.
Add your postal address to your account profile. Once added, a 7-Eleven physical gift card with your remaining balance will be automatically sent via post.
Log out of your account, you're all done!

They have also reset my account's password

EDIT: password they provided didnt work, looks like they reset everyone's password when it was taken offline on 14th June. So if you've changed your password since then, use new one

        here you dropped this: h

  • -4

Everyone should hammer the developers over the Android 9 requirements. Totally stupid time to force people to fork out $$$ to abandon perfectly workable devices that can't easily move OS and upgrade just to use the app

    • +9

Users can also choose to not use 7 eleven app. They are not forcing anyone to buy new phones

    • -8

Lol if you can't afford a new device, that's a YOU problem, not a them problem.

      • +3

It's not about whether people can or cannot afford a new device.
Their app compatibility should be broader than phones released in the last 12 months.

        • Lol 12 months? Is it still 2019. Has 2020 been a dream

          • +5

@DoesntEvenMatter: Yes, a bad dream. Speaking personally, the basic B Telstra phone I bought for travelling last year, less than 12 months ago is stuck Oreo so yeah. Compatibility should be broader than that

  • +11

I hope they understand that this new app will cost them so much business.
Me, as well as im sure most of you guys will get petrol pretty much anywhere, instead of ensuring to stop at a 7-eleven.

    • +1

my local Costco always cheaper than the cheapest 7-eleven price almost all the time ..

      • -1

If it's true then back to Caltex/WW + discounts for me.
Our nearest Costco is not convenient in travel.

    • -1

I'm sure head office is so upset at people like you not going to their stores anymore

      • +7

You may laugh, but tabboo has a point. It is not just the fuel where 7-eleven makes money, but sales in store (which have way higher profit margins than fuel).

        • +2

hundred percent. Using the voicher and saving $ on the fuel means i tend to spend more in store on coffee, muffins, hot food, etc. which is where they make alot more $

  • +1

Trying to wait patiently for Freighter or Master131 to chime in to see if there is likely a way to mod the new app or if I should be venturing down the

I only have Nox and un-jailbroken iPhone. Is there a way to lock with my iPhone?

    • I understand from previous comments that JB iphones can still fake location and lock.

      • Yep.

      • Mine is not jail broken.

    • Which iPhone and which iOS?

      • +1

I’m getting “Your device is not supported, restore your phone to factory” on a JB iPhone 6s

        • I am also getting this on my jailbroke iPad

        • +3

That’s due to JB detection. Use Liberty Lite Beta from https://ryleyangus.com/repo/ to block JB detection

          • @sween64: This right here is the answer. Now to get a working Relocate tweak!

            • +3

              @Ten: Relocate from https://alexpng.github.io/Nepeta-Mirror/ works

It has the occasional bug, mostly when attempting to search for a suburb you can’t bring the cursor up in the search box but is very powerful with blacklists and whitelists

            • +2

@Ten: There’s also a new tweak discussed here but I haven’t used it and it appears to have Long/Lat entry only.

          • @sween64: Works a treat, thank you … I use AkLocationX to fake the location, has always worked for me

    • jailbreak is easy if you got a macbook and iphone X and below. search for checkra1n

      • +1

Can also be done with Linux and Linux Live USB (eg before Windows boots). All devices can be jailbroken, but devices older than iPhone X need to be on iOS <= 13.5

        • Can iPads be jail broken without a Mac?

          • @Gotchas: Yes. What model and what iOS or iPadOS?

            • @sween64: IOS 12.1.4
              Model a1489 iPad mini

              Ipad mini 2

              Thanks for your reply

              • @Gotchas: Yes it can, it’s not very hard to do. There are details steps on youtube that teaches you how to do it.

Mines up and running now. Thanks sween64

              • +2

@Gotchas: Can be jailbroken with unc0ver, head to https://unc0ver.dev to download and follow the instructions. YouTube can be a good resource but videos can become outdated quickly. /r/jailbreak is a great resource.

              • @Gotchas: Can also be updated to 12.4.7 and jailbroken with checkra1n. There are some fundamental differences between unc0ver and checkra1n, I'd recommend going with unc0ver first. PM me if you need anything further.

                • @sween64: Will give it a crack and see how I go. Downloading 12.4.7 now

                  • @Gotchas: You will need a PC of Mac. Make things a lot easier

                  • @Gotchas: I had trouble jailbreaking my iPad Air with checkra1n on 12.4.7, read this

                  • @Gotchas: For checkra1n on Windows I use bootra1n (a Live Linux USB).

Tried and it is working in Android Studio Emulator running in android 9/10/11

    • I was about to ask this. If set up, should be able to replace NOX/BS correct? Anything particularly different for location setting here that needs to be done?

    • +1

Are you able to mock location with Android Studio Emulator?

      https://stackoverflow.com/a/61573119

    • Where to download ASE?

    • +1

My way to make it works.
      1. Set your location thru extended control.
      2. Open Google Map and see if its probably set.
      3. Open 7-eleven app to lock your fuel

      • MVP^ will try this.

      • Just tested with Android Developer Studio AVD. I can set my location and Google Maps and the 7-Eleven app thinks I'm there, but when I try to lock in it gave me error E01, not sure what I am doing wrong… :(

        • I got E01 error too. Tried different phone models.

      • Doesnt work for me, get error e01

    • I haven't been able to get it working with the ASE I get a uh-oh error.

      • Must be the same E01 error I am getting as well I presume?

    • thanks for leting us know.

I tried it on the ASE, after hitting the lock button

      It displayed an error:

Uh Oh! that didnt work as planned . There seems to be a problem. Erorr E01

    • Has anyone been able to overcome the E01 error?

      • +3

        Hello :)

        Willing to try as well.

For those who have used my App Cloner method in the past, there is a way to remove the mock location flag, however, it appears Clones are not able to successfully lock, something in the locking sequence is detecting the app clones

I'm unable to confirm whether they still have device limits like in the past.

        • Do you get the E01 error?

          • @jlao6: I got this with using gps joystick and a second app clone

            • @cheapass88: I just realised i got the same error for the original app. I can spoof to that location, bypass root detection and bang, error e01

      • I'm in champ

      • I'm happy to try too or anything else you want to throw my way.

      • I'm willing to try it out, cheers

How did it go with the people volunteered last night to test your App with the mock location removed?

    • +1

Tried this and the app said we've detected your location isn't true :( Smart app?

      • +1

Read the comment carefully .. he is using mod app not original

      • It does imply that they are focusing on location truthfulness. Did earlier versions of the unmodded app have similar messages when using mock location?

        • +1

          Yes it did.

    • +2

      Nice work Freighter!

Is there any way to remove minimum Android version requirements from an APK to allow installation on older phones?

      • Minimum Android version could simply be they are using calls to functionality which only exists in the newer versions of Android. So even if you remove the checks on Android version, it could crash when you run the app.

        • +1

Should also try and even if with a loss of some functionality, maybe the "deals" and if the locking still work people would not care.

Never know until we try. Hopefully it's hackable

    • Great to see , I can't seem to be able go past login screen , asks me to try again but no luck after that.

      • I've had that issue with my app Cloner clones, you can still do it, just need to cancel and retry

        • Tried a few times its just stuck on retry again :(

Have tried reset password and sign up with new id , same issue ..

Had jailbroken my ipad and was getting the app crashing after 5 mins cause it detected a jailbreak and was pulling my hair out

      • The crashing could be due to JB detection. Use Liberty Lite Beta from https://ryleyangus.com/repo/ to block JB detection.

        • Have it installed but still no luck. It was working with Liberty Lite then just broke. Cant seem to get it back, have rebooted - reinstalled everything, is with Ipad Pro

You can also manually place a pin on the map by double-clicking anywhere.
          • Click "Set Fake Location". If it is the first time doing this the tool needs to download some files to enable Developer Mode on your iDevice.
          • Confirm your fake location using Apple Maps, Google Maps, etc. To stop the fake location, click "Stop Fake Location". If your device is still stuck at the faked location turn Location Services off and on in Settings > Privacy.

Your device will also have a Developer menu now shown in Settings. You can get rid of it by restarting your iDevice.

This page appears to have all current 7-eleven prices.
North Ryde seems to be the cheapest location for 91 at the moment (101.9)
    https://fuelprice.io/brands/7-eleven/?fuel_type=ulp91

    • Shame it can’t be price sorted.

From what I can see Carlisle is the cheapest by a margin for all types currently

      • +3

It auto sorts by price if you search by city, then 7-eleven only. Only issue is it only displays for 1 city… haha

        Sydney
        https://fuelprice.io/nsw/sydney/?brand=7-eleven

        Melbourne
        https://fuelprice.io/vic/melbourne/?brand=7-eleven

        etc

      • Carlisle's out of date by more than two weeks the website says.
I found North Ryde at 101.9 for ULP91

      • +2

Carlisle isn't that price as per fuelwatch WA
        However for 98: 7-Eleven Kogarah: 109.9

Lock it in guys (iOS + 3u tools)

        • I can’t seem to find 7-11 Kogarah in the search. According to google they are closed.

        • I got bexley, 146.9 :(

  • +33

I am keeping an eye on this thread more than anything else right now, I realised being so much dependent on 7/11 for best fuel prices. special thanks to Freighter and Master131 for providing their excellent skills on this.

  • Anyone else getting 'Uh oh!' errors when logging into new app or resetting password? Did i just get banned :( ?

    • Try turning on your "Automatic time and date" in phone setting. I got same message and turned it on and the app worked.

      • Thanks mate, this worked. For anyone else experiencing this, dont reset your password using a desktop browser, enable automatic / carrier provided time settings and then reset password through the link on your phone itself.

  • +1

Has anyone been able to actually redeem a fuel lock since the new app released?

Just tried two different 7/11s, they bought said the system said the barcode is invalid, and that the system is still being updated their end.

According to the second station, they've been having the issue all day..

    • -1

I locked mine before the upgrade but now it is showing the locked price but no barcode.

    • Yes there are multiple comments in this thread confirming it works. Ask them to scan it a few more times.

    • Worked for me yesterday.

    • I took a screenshot before app went under maintenance and then used that couple of days back… worked like a charm!

    • I redeemed a voucher locked before June 14 at 7 eleven Epping NSW tonight.

  • -26

    Hi,
Can anyone plz provide me the link of updated 7eleven fuel app. Few days before the app was running fine with mock location. Now it asks for update. Has anyone got the updated app link. I couldn't find the link in the thread. Thanks

My project can be a bit restrictive and hard work but is nearly impossible to detect/block ‘cause you’ll use the real app without changes. Once you get it up and running it’s super easy to keep going.

      Need to have:
      - Mac
      - iPhone
      - Xcode
      - Time 😇

      https://github.com/vitorll/GPSFuelApp

      • +1

I have done the same by creating a Single Page Application
then mock location on the fly
basically as you said, this is the "official" way without Jail breaking the device

        • what do you mean by “on the fly”? Care to sure a few details, perhaps I can improve this project to something more useful

          • @Vitorll: What I mean is editing the GPX and mock the location when the "dummpy" app is running
as the mock location is change the location in the entire device (not limit to the app)
it will do location change in 7-11 app too

I have been using this method without issue so far
However, since I tried the iFakelocation from master131
Believe that is even much simpler

            • @littlesoldier: Oh yeah, that's exactly what this project does, while in debug mode you enable the location to use the gpx file and that's it. I thought for a second that you had found a way to update the file/location when running the app outside debug mode (not connected to a Mac).

      • +1

This is what I use pretty easy once it’s setup

    • -11

Hey guys has anyone spoofed the app yet? Old app is not working anymore

    • Don't tell the young guns with their AMGs

    • +3

I have earlier price lock this today and just pumped. Seems like 7-11 is pre-rounding the $/litre amount.

so instead of being charged 1.199$/L , was charged 1.2$/L .

Submitted to customer service as a bug.

Wonder if anyone is having the same issue. Obviously it is 0.01cent/L different but its abit shitty that they dont charged exactly as advertised. might as well not advertised the price/L up to 3 decimal places.

  • +1

OK so I already had a custom rom, magisk installed and gps joystick but it is crashing.

So close getting the new app to work.

    Steps to reproduce

    For beginners
    1. Unlock bootloader
    2. Root, install custom rom via twrp
    3. Install magisk and magisk manager

    Where I started from
    4. Install the module app systemizer via magisk
    5. Reboot
    6. Install gps joystick
    7. Set mock location app to gps joystick
    8. Install a terminal emulator
    9. Type su systemise
    10. Search for the app, move to system/app
    11. Set gps joystick to hidden in magisk
    12. Sign in the the 7 11 app
    13. Set your location via gps joystick
    14. Now get fuel lock

Seems to not pick up that I am rooted. Glitch in the top right hand side when I try to lock in fuel. Map freezes. I'll have to look at logcat.

    • +1

If you are systemising gps app, you should not be setting mock location in developer options.

      1. You should move it to priv-app (and navigate to the folder to make sure you can see it there)
      2. This step is not required as it doesn't care if you have root or not

It is worth checking that your gps app has system mode enabled (so you can confirm systemizer worked).

    • I installed twrp via odin on my s2 but when I restart to go to recovery mode, phone is stuck at samsung logo…

I used the files from xda forum

Would you have any clue how to resolve this? I rooted my phone 4 years ago but just can't follow through now.

      • Make sure your using the exact files for your phone model. Need to get the correct 3 or 4 and try again

      • +1

Oh wow, I cant believe there's android 9 for S2… that's insane lol

  • NSW fuelapp also shows 119.9. Most of the time the cheapest is apex on Victoria Road West Ryde

    WORKAROUND FOR JAILBROKEN IOS USERS:

Shadow + Liberty Lite Beta Jailbreak Bypass seems to have worked for my iPhone XS Max running 13.5 with My 7-Eleven app version 2.0.0.10867.

    Add this repo for Shadow:
    https://ios.jjolano.me/

Add this repo for Liberty Lite Beta:
    https://ryleyangus.com/repo/

    1. Open up Shadow in settings app, whitelist mode should be enabled by default so just click Applications and check My 7-Eleven to enable.
    2. Head back into main settings and check Enable Advanced Filters and then Restart Springboard.
    3. Open up Liberty in settings app, enable and check My 7-Eleven from the list.
    4. Then reinstall the 7/11 app and log in to check if it still crashes.
    5. Disable Shadow but always keep Liberty enabled in settings whenever you want to spoof location (relocate worked for me, YMMV), DO NOT CLICK MY CARD YET otherwise it’ll flag your app and then you’ll have to reinstall it etc.
    6. Once you’ve locked in a price of your choice, fully close the app from multitasker, and enable Shadow again and now you can access your membership barcode to redeem in store.
    7. Repeat from step 5 whenever you want to lock in.

If anyone can figure out the combination of settings that will allow spoofing locations and also bypass detection in Shadows that will be much appreciated. Otherwise this hack job will have to work for now.

    • +1
      1. Shadow isn’t necessary. Liberty Lite Beta is enough.

      2. Shadow hasn’t been updated for 13.5, only works up to 12.4.1

      • Liberty was enough prior to the new app for me, but one of the tweaks I have is tripping their jailbreak detection in the new app and I haven’t found which one yet. Having both might help someone out there in the same situation.

While shadow isn’t officially updated to 13.5, I find that it works just as well if not better than Liberty in certain apps as long as you don’t enable iOS 11-12 features.

    • Install Liberty Lite Beta and enable it before opening 7-Eleven.

      • Already was running Liberty Lite Beta prior to this update, and it worked to open the app and lock in a price. But I can’t redeem because it will crash and flag as jailbroken the moment I tried to open my card to scan. Using shadow for the meantime helps circumvent this for me, and thought it might be useful for some out there in similar situation.

        • try FlyJB then

Just be patient and wait for our genius Freighter to finish testing on the new mod apk
After that our helicopter can take off again

@henestto: It may be possible on the emulator to try the root/majiske/spoof method mentioned.

              • @chyawala: tried two versions on android studio. But android 9 and 10.. Without luck changing it. Any luck on your side?

            • @henestto: Thanks for the info. I just tried a few times with the android studio with android 10. However the location keeps going back to the states. I've tried a few other times of changing the location and etc. Even using the longitude latitude even. However without any luck. It keeps going back to the states and etc. You know any way of changing it? earlier the was a guy who showed a picture on the map and etc.. ANd that didnt work. It only change location visually but the app still detected usa.. :(

              • @mreee: Is that using the built in location spoofing, or the other method that works successfully on rooted phones?

              • @mreee: if its the built in location spoofing I had the same problem… To fix it I set the location I want to be in, then open up google maps navigation. It should update you to your spoofed location automatically and translate to 7-eleven app, but if not search for a different location (doesn't matter where) and then select "directions" and as your starting point choose "your location" and that should update then… but thats all a moot point, because i think we are all getting a "E01 error" when actually trying to lock in a price…

            • @henestto: I have the same problem any idea what the E01 error means ?

    JB'ken XS MAX 13.5
    FlyJB + LocationFaker
    North Ryde U98 locked in
    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/71725/80679/img_0233.p…

    • Could you possibly upload the .deb for your version of FlyJB? The devs repo disappeared recently and I haven’t found a reliable alternative.

      • Just use iFakeLocation from master131
Able to mock location in less than a minute

I would rather not to JB just for mocking location purpose
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/288802?page=107#comment-88…

JB can cause security issues as it opens root access to the system

        • The risk is the same as using a Windows PC really. Just be sensible and install tweaks from reputable sources.

        • Do you instruction for using ifakelocation usage or point me too writeup in this forum for same

      • send me your email and I’ll send you the .deb

I think I’ve repacked it into a .deb properly

I literally had 1 cent left on my virtual card. Should I order the physical gift card?

    • Go ahead!!

Under the Guideline the following rounding principles apply to cash transactions:

      1 & 2 cents – rounded DOWN to the nearest 10

      https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/rounding-and-eftpos-tr…

Surely it would have to apply on this case, as gift cards are treated like cash in Australia.
In you case, nearest ten would be 0

      • Anyone else that was surprised it was nearest 10 and not nearest 5, here are the full guidelines:

        1 & 2 cents – rounded DOWN to the nearest 10
        3 & 4 cents – rounded UP to the nearest 5
        6 & 7 cents – rounded DOWN to the nearest 5
        8 & 9 cents – rounded UP to the nearest 10

        Weird way to put it.

      • But it’s gift card to gift card transaction, not gift card to cash.

      • +2

The new version for Android is now available on Playstore
For iOS, new app has replaced the old one
Please go to Appstore to search and download the new one

Due to the data source change on best price
The prices that app showing may not be as accurate as before (as it no longer coming from 7-11 API / project03)
Currently prices are updated at 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm daily

Please let me know if you have any issues

        ==================
        To Lock:

        iOS users have several options:
        1. Using the iFakeLocation from master131 (recommended) [tested and work]
        2. Using the Xcode mock location method [tested and work]
        3. JailBreak and mock location [tested and work]

        Android users:
        1. Wait till Freighter release the mod apk (recommended)
        2. Rooting Android device and change location [required more technical skills]
        3. Running emulator that runs Android 9 or above [seems Official Android Emulator from google has been detected, but tried other one like BlissOS etc.]

        • What is the data source?

              • @sween64: QLD data comes from DNRME (http://fuelpricesqld.com.au/), VIC is just a scrape of public use estimates; they're easy enough to identify. SA's official data source will come online this Spring 2020. Hope this helps! :)

Hey mate, as a suggestion can you add premium diesel as a separate fuel source?
The cheapest diesel at the moment is actually 7-Eleven Croydon East: 106.54
          https://fuelprice.io/brands/7-eleven/?fuel_type=pdiesel

          • @Cheagle: Premium Diesel is as a separate fuel type but the retail fuel price coverage and quality for VIC is crap, that's why it's an estimate only; fuelprice.io relies on third-party datasets for fuel price indicators.

If/when VIC State Govn. joins the retail fuel price reporting party like WA, NT, NSW, QLD and soon to be SA we'll be first in line to add accurate Station data.

In the interim keep an eye on PetrolSpy which uses crowdsourcing where State Govn. data is unavailable, as far as I'm aware there's no public website publishing commercial fuel price datasets; i.e. IS, FuelTrac, OPIS datasets.

Join our retail fuel price reporting campaign and e-mail your local Government.

    • Screenshot them including your barcode. Saves the pain of a 1000 cuts.

Working on Android 9, newest version of app. Bootloader unlocked, rooted, Magisk hide. YMMV.

    • I have a spare google pixel 2 which is running Android 9, how can get what you have. Are you able to help me please mate.

      • +4

I use the app Mockation (blackkara) to spoof my location. Try that first.

Otherwise, to replicate my setup, you will need to root your device and install Magisk. Rooting can be device-specific so I suggest you Google some tutorials or go on XDA forums. Unless you are somewhat well-versed at tinkering your phone, I wouldn't risk having a brick in hand over saving a few bucks on fuel.

Here's an updated video for those who are rooted and have Magisk: https://streamable.com/61ixhy

        • hi did you actually lock the price, your videos showed everything until the lock action, that is where i got stock then got error page E01. I've systemized both My 7 Eleven and GPS Joy stick apps, and ran the GPS Joy stick app using hide the app after the search.

    • Hi could you please give step by step instructions?
      For newbies

    • Can you please link the newest version of the app? I can find it in the posts.
      I think I'm going blind

      • There isn't one

        • -1

Damn it's right there at the bottom of the comment lol

But I'm still having "we've detected your location isn't true"

    • +3

Thanks mate, it finally works on my phone.
One step missing in your intro is, the mockation app need to be installed as system app.
How to install it as system app:
      1. install the Mockation from play store as normal.
      2. install App Systemizer in Magisk
      3. use App Systemizer to move the Mockation app to system app
      4. turn on "special mode" in Mockation app -> settings

Only in this way you don't need to turn on mock location, and then 7-eleven app won't say "your location isn't true"

      • Good pickup. I have been using the original 7/11 app from the Play Store since the beginning and had forgotten I had converted it to a system app. In other words, for the fuel lock to work using this method on Android, your device must be rooted.

        • Does the 7 Eleven App have to be made into systemize too? I only systemized the GPS Mocking app.
          Thank you.

      • Mocklation is playing up for me. Used google play store. Don't seem to have a special mode. Google maps search is missing the search bar. 1.2.0 is buggy. 1.1.6 I can open maps search but says unavailable. Can you send me a link to the apk?

        Thanks.

Edit there are two apps mocklation and mockation think I used the wrong app lol

        • App name is Mockation, designed by blackkara, version 1.1.2

      • is this for a rooted android device?

        • Yes, the device has to be rooted.

      • I get the E01 error when i use mockation and gps joystick. They're both system apps and mock location turned off from system level. It gets to the point of showing the best price.. any idea why?

        • Likewise me too does it on joystick.

          • @jes: Check freighters latest comment. It's because root doesn't pass safetynet. I am able to boot into non root mode to lock in.

    • I realised both of your videos, you didn't try and lock in. It won't work based on freighters latest comment.

For those looking for a temporary replacement for ProjectZeroThree, create a new bookmark (eg. Best Fuel Prices) and set the URL to this (copy-paste exactly as-is):
    javascript:alert(Array.from(document.querySelectorAll("h4")).map(a=>"nearby-stations"==a.nextElementSibling.id?[a,a.nextElementSibling]:[a,a.nextElementSibling.nextElementSibling]).map(a=>a[0].innerText+":\n"+Array.from(a[1].querySelectorAll("li")).map(a=>[a.querySelector("a").innerText,+a.textContent.split("~").pop().split(" ").pop().trim()]).sort((c,a)=>c[1]<a[1]?-1:c[1]>a[1]?1:0).map(a=>a[0]+": "+a[1]).slice(0,5).join("\n")).join("\n\n"));

Then go to this URL (you can also switch the fuel type on the page):
    https://fuelprice.io/brands/7-eleven/?fuel_type=ulp91

Then click on your newly created bookmark. You'll get a popup with the best prices.

As of time of posting for U91:

    New South Wales:
    7-Eleven North Ryde: 101.9
    7-Eleven Lithgow: 108.9

    7-Eleven Cockburn Central: 119.9

    • my 7 eleven app is saying Carlisle WA does not have a 7 eleven, closest is 7-Eleven Bassendean @ 118.9

definitely issue with fuel price website, great script tho!

      • +2

Yes, if you click on the link for 7-Eleven Carlisle it says "It's been more than 2 months since we were able to collect updated fuel price data for 7-Eleven Carlisle.". It's an issue with the site I guess.

        • +1

I'm on Chrome and my WA prices gets cut off at the end and only shows 2 stores. If I wanted to limit it to only 4 per State do I change this part?

          'sliceslice(0,5)'

          • +1

@CodeXD: Yes the slice part is what limits the number of stores per state.

    • You're a good man, sir.

        i.e. 7/11, QLD. 7/11, NSW

  • So no more free fuel lock coffee?I locked but nothing show up.

  • +9

I didn’t really need fuel but thought I’d test it out. I had no problems redeeming a locked price using the new app. Locked a price on two days again when the new app was released. Redeemed just now for a price that was interstate. New card barcode scanned without issue.

I’ve achieved this with a jailbroken iPhone. Checkra1n + Relocate + Liberty Lite Beta.

    • I have an iphone at home but im not that smart to know how to jailbreak it lol.

      • +1

Which iPhone and which iOS? I can steer you in the direction. Also best to PM me otherwise I might miss the notification.

        /r/jailbreak is a great resource

        • hi, can i have the instructions please? I have iphone 5s on 12.4.7 OS

      • Jailbreak Wizard to the rescue

        https://www.jailbreakwizard.net/index.php

It will tell you if your iDevice can be jailbroken, and if yes, which tools you can use to do it.

        • This page says nothing about Checkra1n

          • @andylch: It suggestions checkra1n for my device: iPhone 7 Plus on 13.3.

I’d call it a wizard if it auto detected my device and iOS.

I just refer to the jailbreak chart from /r/jailbreak

    • Further update I have now got the 7/11 app searching the correct location I put in the emulator but when I try to lock the price I get the message " oops something went wrong error code E01" anybody know what the code means ?

Is there no barcode on the new app fuel lock? I have a previous lock that is brought forward onto the new app without a barcode lol

    • It's the my card now

    • All scanning is done on a single barcode which is your account card

      • Anyone know what happens if you also try to redeem a discount for a product with petrol lock? Does it all discount automatically?

I remember awkwardly saying "can I use this coupon, petrol lock and use the funds on my account"… took 3 scans.

For anyone facing Android requirements issues it may be worth testing the app using Bliss OS. If you have a USB drive handy you can mount Bliss OS which uses Android 9/10 on a USB and you should be able to boot up (either via the drive or Virtual Box).

Here's a video showing Android 10 running on PC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGk3-dzXi3s

    • That looks like a more recent Android for desktops (which can be useful in general), but unfortunately it says on the project's download page that it does not run very well in virtual machines. Also I'm assuming there's no built-in easy way to change GPS location? (like what nox had).

      • I had issues getting the GUI to run on Virtualbox Mac OS .. just continuously showed the console. It's quite easy to install, just like any other nix* OS tbh.

        • +2

Do NOT set the virtual graphics adapter to "VMSVGA" (the recommended setting), because that stops Android / Bliss OS from starting (drops straight to the console).

What worked for me was: Settings -> Display -> Graphics controller = VboxSVGA

Ignore the "Invalid settings detected" warning that appears after doing this, and see if it helps it start.

    • Kind of related I'm using prime Os, I think don't bother with prime Os I couldn't even find the 7 eleven app on its playstore the Android version must be low.

        • Legend. Worked!

        • This works perfectly on an iPad 4th Gen, doubt they'll be able to stop this method. Thanks for the workaround.

          • @Beepie: How did you manage to install on iPad 4th Gen? My iPad 4th Gen can only update to iOS 10 and the app requires iOS 12

        • Work great, great find

        • got two issues, not sure if you can help. First, virtual locations failed error -10, then tried to put longitude and latitude manually seems worked however when entering 7/11 in app, says no fuel prices found in store?Tried select different fuel but come up same result? Any help would be much apprecated.

        • @nguyentran - Thanks for sharing. Has anyone managed to get this working on a Mac?

      • 130 now :(

        • it’s still 119.9 now.

          • @Diplomats: Something is wrong. It is bypassing North Ryde and displaying higher fuel costs. Selects north Cove wtf?

I have tried directly selecting North Ryde and surrounding suburbs no dice.

Nevermind got it working now. Mockation is finicky.

    • Lithgow 126.9

  • anyone know if they are cross checking the location of lock against the purchase location? shud we be keeping the lock to same state to be safe??

    • +5

Never, there are many of us who fly interstate daily, travelling for work, that's how we get our locks. In fact we travel so much that when asked where we got the lock it's hard to remember.

      • +2

yes I have been flying my chopper to WA even after borders were closed….nothing suss i rekn

Anyone feeling generous? Old fart with low tech knowledge (sorry). Was using app happily without hacks but now won't work 3 yr old Redmi 5A (only Android 7) and can't afford new phone. Is there an easy solution please?

    • +2

Hi for android no easy solution right now, (as far as i know)
Custom ROM is where to start,
      https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-5a/development
      google is your friend
if you get a custom ROM going here is the last part.

Here is the process as an FYI,
Do you have your Android phone on a custom ROM with root access? I only know android.
but the steps are as follows:
      Install TWRP
      backup phone
Download stock ROM in case you need to recover from soft brick
Install custom ROM (android 9.0.0 or higher)
      Use Magisk to hide Magisk
      Install Fake GPS program
Use Magisk to hide Fake GPS program
      Install terminal emulator
Systemize fake GPS program using terminal emulator
delete some folders associated with the un-systemized fake GPS program

Also have a look at XDA developers, its the best place for ROMS for your phone.

      https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonGoSpoofing/comments/9kzf4g/t…

Make sure you follow all of the instructions (there will be 10 -20 steps per step above) and do some additional research. This will trigger KNOX and you will loose the ability to use Paywave on your phone ETC

Also consider supporting the Rom developer with your first saving. They put a lot of work in for little to no return.

    A slight update:

The reason we/you are getting the E01 error is because the app is failing the SafetyNet Attestation test. This happens (for me) because the certificate doesn't match what is being sent or should be sent. For instance, if I just resign the APK without any changes then I get the attestation error. I'm not sure yet if I can work around it, we'll see. I have an idea or 2 that may or may not work.. I haven't mucked around with it yet.

When you make a request with the app it sends along a header called x-attestation-token: which (I can't remember off the top of my head where it is set, but it must be from when the app first loads) if it is null doesn't proceed with the fuel lock. You can search for fuel and load up offers fine without it.

I documented a tiny bit a few nights ago here about the fuel lock process and how it is just a GET request now with your longitude and latitude in the URL instead of a POST request. You can see how the attestation token is blank because I was using my modified app.

Progress is slow because I'm working a metric crap ton and have only a few hours a night after work which I wanna split between my API (I'll share the code with master131).

On another note, if someone has a jailbroken iPhone/iPad and they can help me do some packet sniffing shoot me a message please.
I'm having trouble jailbreaking my iPad Air with checkra1n (Linux) which is annoying.

    • Thanks for the update. Looking forward to the new API.

    • The reason we/you are getting the E01 error is because the app is failing the SafetyNet Attestation test(developer.android.com). This happens (for me) because the certificate doesn't match what is being sent or should be sent. For instance, if I just resign the APK without any changes then I get the attestation error.

That explains why appcloner clones aren't able to lock as well, you can run clones for older versions independently because they all have different app signatures

    • +1

Thanks Freighter! That is why I've been getting E01 error. I am lucky enough to have an S10 and i need a special combination to boot into root mode and safetynet fails in that mode.. but when i boot into "normal" mode, i used GPS joystick (converted to system app in root mode) and it works!
The "special mode" in mockation disappeared in non root mode too.

I can use this method for the time being and thanks for the update!!! Legend

Edit: I think I'll just mention that magisk creator topjohnwu has said the only way to get safety net to pass in magisk is finding a vulnerability somewhere which will be patched by google easily. So i have a feeling it'll be harder to fix with this safety check on 7/11 side. I only read but don't understand how it actually works.

    • -9

I'm also getting an E01 error, I await your response please. Is there anyway to fix?

I've systemize gps joystick and hide when on on Android 10 linage os

    • Thanks for the update and all the effort! Unfortunately not sounding as promising as your last post, looks like it's time to JB an old phone, at least the short term.

    • So we need an Android app that talks the iOS API protocol, or something talking to the play services attestation server directly to get a signed token? Surely there is some real attempt by Google at protection against the second option … I just can't see how that fundamentally could be protected.

      • I am just wondering if SafetyNet Attestation test is an android, what will they use with the iOS API
I get your idea of trying to explore the network packages in iOS to find that out

  • -5

Can someone help me please, i've downloaded both GPS Joy Stick and Mockation, another step is to enable mock settings to that app, but when i do it i click on either GPS Joy Stick and Mockation, popup box seems to go down, but then the mock lockation app goes to My 7-Eleven is that ok or normal?

    • You can't use mock location with 7/11. You need those apps coverted to a system app.

      • Thanks for the clarrification i've turnoff mock locations now, going to the lock page now but still E01 error using mockation. I've hidden with magisk 7 eleven app but im wondering how did you do it?

my safety net test in magisk was both success green ticks before i install termux and the joystick app, but now both red crosses.

        • You can't pass safety net with magisk afaik. Try pokemon go, if that fails, it means it won't work with 7/11 too

          • @cheapass88: With the old app I managed to get my old tablet (Samsung smp605) working with root and isu for pokemon go and 7 eleven. iSU can turn off and on itself plus change settings to bypass safety net. However, now since it's Android 7 it doesn't work with this new app. Now considering loading lineage 17 on it but lots of bugs

            • @ymerej: Minimum requirement is Android Pie (9.0). So you can always go with LineageOS 16.0

            • @ymerej: Yes, it used to work. It's since march this year that google have started doing something about it. It started with pixel devices and i believe it's now rolled out to all devices now.

    • +1

What android phone do you currently have/use?

There's no guarantee just any phone will work.

The best bet for android phone is one where it has stock android 9 AND is already rootable (xda developer is great for that). You can also go for a phone with custom android 9 but it will be more work. My primary phone is Samsung S7 which does not have stock android 9 so went the custom route.

      • +1

Hey, I have the same phone as you and I have tried systemizing Mockation and it is still asking for developer settings. I made sure to check priv-app during systemizing but I also can't find the priv-app folder anywhere. The logs on Termux says the transfer is successful. I'm pretty stuck and it would be great if you could write out a method. Im using the same ROM - black diamond and root checkers say root is successful. Cheers.

        • +2

Sounds like you're really close to getting this to work.

I dont use mockation so not sure how that particular app works, the ones I use are here:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8880103/redir

I also use ES File Explorer Pro to access priv-app folder. You need to grant it root access first. If you cannot systemize it with magisk module, you can go into data/app folder and copy the folder to priv-app, then change the folder and base.apk to the same permissions as the other files in priv-app. Then delete the folder from data/app

reddit post here helped me a lot

          • +1

@CodeXD: CodeXD you hero! I finally got it to work. I downloaded File Explorer Pro and found out I had two copies of the app - one already in priv-app and the other still in data/app. I deleted the data/app copy and now I can use special mode on Mockation. Locked in 95 at Midvale today!

Yes you are kind of close, the tip is to download a separate safety net checker or use Magisk s one and keep on checking it passes before you go to the next change you are doing and avoid downloading too many unnecessary apps, maybe I'm just paranoid in having a fail. That means i don't bother using termux or even downloading that special module in Magisk for the systemizer. Who knows it could make the safety net fail. I guess you could get a root Explorer, but again this is another app. I suggest you just use twrp to manually move the mock gps app folder to the system, there's a few tutorials around for that and it works.

I also use the gps joystick app rather than the one you use as it works for me and I think it's more superior as we can change the app name to avoid detection. Tip download apk directly from vendor with unlock version, not from playstore and use the privacy options.

After systemising some settings in the mock gps app should be turned on or off.

Magisk and safety net are very sensitive, keep on toggling between Magisk hide on and off and get a successful safety net. Toggling core mode only may help too. I believe you should rename the Magisk app to avoid detection too. And Magiskhide props config might help.

          Good luck.

        • Very close too. I go to the point that I can pass SafetyNet check and systemize to priv-app and removal of the data/app files.
But when I run the mockGPS apps they just crash and Android has to close them

    • Hi im not an IT expert but my thoughts are Samsung s6 and below would be ideal. Some Newer Samsungs have 7 day unlock bootloaders wait times. I used Samsung s4.

    • Thanks guys!

    • I'm guessing Nokia phones might be the cheapest ones, and they'll get updated to newer OS for 2 generations too.

EDIT: nvm, just realised you want one that can be rooted to run it with mock location, rather than just stock app.

I had a price previously locked in before change over of app (was from interstate). Worked after about 3 attempts at scanning it from the servo rep however, as other have mentioned, it is rounded up to the nearest $1 so for me it cost me an extra 23c than what it should have.. I am not happy!! lol

    • nearest $1? what does this means ?

Locked in 91 at Ryde North for 101.9

5 minutes later tried showing the voucher at my local 7/11 in Victoria and the clerk said it was invalid.

Not sure if you have to wait in between lock in and redeeming it, especially interstate.

Wondering if anyone else is having any issues? I locked in on my iPhone and showed my membership code on another device. It worked previously 2 days before but I had a 30 minute gap between lock in and redeem.

    • That sux thanks for sharing. I wonder how long we need to wait then.

    • Did your other device show that you had a price locked?

      • Yeah it did. I don’t show the membership on my jailbroken device as I’ve read that the app has additional jailbreak checks when you do so.

Going to try again later today, will update on results.

        • really i never heard this, so your membership card is different on a jailbreak phone?

        • did it work for you?

          • @ozbargainerlife1: Sorry for the late update. I tried again 2 days later and it worked.

So what I do now is lock in the price at least 24 hours before I redeem it.

    • Put in a claim to get money back

I just used by lock from North Ryde today in VIC and it worked fine. Lock was made yesterday using iFakeLocation on iPad and used today from an Android Xiaomi phone.

    • +2

I locked 98 at North Ryde and waited 24h+ before using it and it worked for me, the guy at 7-Eleven (QLD) said I was the only one today that it worked for, so there must some time limit between where you lock and when you use it.

3utools works like magic. Awesome !!

  • Has anyone tried using a ios emulator on a windows PC ? . I only ask as it took me all day to setup android studio emulator and it didnt work ….

    • +1

I dont think iOS app can only run on simulator unless you have the source code
iOS emulator normally cannot connect to appstore to download the app
(unless someone has re-sign the ipa file with enterprise certificate so you can install straight away by trusting in profile)

  • Tried to load fuelprice.io this morning and it has been very slow
    anyone has the same issue?

Edit: Its ok now, maybe a sudden high traffic?

  • Updated ElevenMe app this morning and it's working!

JB iPhone last night but couldn't lock price, tried 3uTools this morning and then opened 7-11 app and got this message "Your device is not supported. Restore your device to factory settings". Anyone know what this mean and how to fix it. Can't use app. Tried deleting and re-installing but didn't work.

    • You need to use a jailbreak detection bypass like FlyJB or A-Bypass

    • Try installing FlyJB here

    • +1

I re-installed the jailbreak, use Liberty Lite Beta and 7-11 app is working again. I have tried LocationFaker and Relocate, both change location to North Ryde but when I try to lock I get "Uh oh! That didn't work quite as planned, there seemed to be an error". Any ideas why it won't lock the price?

      • try FlyJB or A-Bypass.

        • Thanks, will look for FlyJB and give it a try. Thanks to rzrz as well.

    • I have installed:
      A-Bypass
      FlyJB
      Liberty Lite Beta
      LocationFaker
      Relocate

I can change location, open app and find the best price but it won't lock-in the price, very frustating!

Still waiting for a solution for android. Please help freighter!

    • +44

Be patient - he and Master are on it. Although many wish, this is not their full time job. They has saved us heaps already - let's wait for them to continue and spread the joy.

    • +14

Stop taking them for granted to start with.

    • +11

I assume you've already tried decompiling the APK, performed some packet monitoring and added some useful info you might have found to the GitHub he posted earlier.

      Not just begging for help?

    • +3

hope you've made a donation and not just begging for freebies

  • +39

Please don't forget to thank freighter and master after you finish Thirsting for the new APK. Just remember they have no obligation to do anything, they are doing it help their fellow man. Show some love https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.freyta.tha…

    • +1

Didn't know about the donation app. Not happy about the 30% gtax but put $5 in anyway.

  • +18

ProjectZeroThree Started updating price, just got notification

    • +4

All hail the Master - HAIL

  • +6

Have thanked freighter many times. about to jump on the app and do it a few more times

  • Also confirming success with 3uTools and non JB iPhone 6!

    • +1

same with an ipad running 12.4.5
way less convenient as I cant do it 'on the fly' but definitely better than nothing :)

  • Show some love to these guys.

  • So should any old iPhone work 3Utools? I am thinking about getting an old iPhone just for locking as this seems the simplest option, I tried the wife's iPad mini 2 but can't sign into the 7eleven app. TIA

    • +2

iPhone has to be able to at least run iOS >12 to be able to install the 7-11 app

  • +1

Thanks Dr Cheapo for a reminder. Thanked Freighter with my little share and informed others who i have been sending .apk file.

I’m bored so if anyone needs help locking in cheap fuel, but doesn’t know how to/have the devices to, pm me happy to do it for you! I’ll need your account details to lock in though, so feel free to just make a dummy account and give me that if you prefer

    • +1

In the previous version of the app, there was a limit of 2 locks per DEVICE (Yes, even if you change account). Not sure if the same applies to new app but just something to keep in mind.

      • +4

good news! just did my third fuel lock for a fellow user - so guessing now it's either no limit or a new limit?

        • You're going to be a busy man/woman. 😂

I may request your service if something doesn't come about in the next week or 2.

Currently doing 500km/week with a car that requires 98 RON so the savings have been very welcome.

        • +2

I have done 6 so far so I don't think there is a limit on device, instead it is the limit on the account.

        • Someone had their account banned, and they thing it might be because they were Using multiple accounts on the one device

    • Thanks. Very Generous.

    • +10

      Happy to help too.

      • -4

        pm sent

      • Still helping fellow ozbargainer, please make sure your Username and password as short as possible as I will need to manually enter into the app.

        • -1

can you please help me !

      • Champ

    • Was there suppose to be a barcode when you successfully locked the price?

      • +1

Select My Card on the top right.

        That’s your barcode.

      • +1

It's your barcode for all fuel locks and in-app rewards.

    • +1

Getting quite a few messages now, I’ll try to get through them asap, apologies in advance if it takes awhile!

    • Much appreciated mate!

Through some trial and error managed to get price lock working on a rooted oneplus one.

The phone was already rooted and bootloader unlocked but had an outdated version of cyanogenmod and twrp.
Been out of the android unlocking scene for 5+ years so wasn't familiar with lineage OS (the custom rom) or magisk (superuser control) as none of those were around back then.

Sharing the steps I took if it helps anyone else.

    1. Follow these instructions to unlock bootloader, install custom recovery (twrp), and install LineageOS 16 and Google Apps. Skip over the AddonSU part.
**Note these instructions are for oneplus one, but instructions for other supported devices can be found on the site.

    2. Boot phone and do the initial new phone setup. Need to signin to google account when it asks.

    3. Download the apps needed from appstore: 7 eleven app, terminal emulator, mockation and a root checker app

    4. Download magisk manager and follow the instructions there on how to install

    5. Download the latest magisk 20.04 and follow those instructions on how to install via TWRP. This is the part that actually roots your phone.

    6. Boot phone and try a root checker app to confirm you have root access.

    7. go to magisk manager app, and go to downloads under menu and search for and install app systemizer. Then reboot phone

    8. now open terminal app, and type su to open root shell (should come up with a # when you have root). Then type in systemize. From the menu select 1, pick the number corresponding to mockation and then pick the option to install to priv-app. This makes the mockation app a system app and undetectable from 7 eleven app (I think).

    9. reboot phone

    10. open mockation. Ignore the message about enabling mock locations in developer options. Go to settings and enable the last setting "special mode". If it doesnt let you do this, either you dont have root, or didnt systemize the mockation app properly.

Now you should be able to lock in a location via mockation, and then use the 7 eleven app to lock a price.

Note that initially I had issues logging into my account on 7 eleven app but resolved that by installing chrome.

    • +1

Thanks for the write up, following this + the post on the previous page + reddit managed to get this working. Strangely enough its on my old OP2. Long live the og OPs

    • note from my steps above…ignore step 1 if you already have latest version of TWRP installed, and have android version 9 or higher. I had to do step 1 because officially oneplus one doesnt have android v9 and my custom rom was on some lower version.

Also if you already have superuser/root access on your phone and its not magisk, fully uninstall your SuperSU first (should be able to find a flashable zip online to remove SuperSU via TWRP). Reason for this is we only want Magisk providing root access and any leftover SuperSU artefacts might be detected by 7 eleven app. Alternatively might be easier to completely wipe system and data partitions via TWRP and then start from step 1.

    • ive tried all the steps and root checker says Root access is properly installed however when i try to find "special mode" in mock location i cant find it.

i also just tried to open the 7/11 app just to see if i could login and have a message saying device not supported, restore your device to factory settings. Its running Android 9
