Good price. Please keep in mind that this does not have the S pen.
i bought this for 300 2 Christmas ago FYI
When the thing was new, herald sun was giving it away for free with an annual subscription ($299). FYI.
The giveaway was the smaller screen Tab A
which one is better, this or iPad air with 4G?
Neither.
This tablet is good for basic use. Can replace your laptop if u are a basic pc user.
iPad Air 2 4G is more expensive and not sure the worth.Try both and see which meets ur needs!
If you don't mind it not having 4G as you could always tether it to your phone…

Sorry, but don't think this is a bargain. 1.5GB of RAM…shouldn't even be being sold in 2017…Let at alone at this huge cost.
Android device with less than 3GB of RAM is a big no no IMO
Only thing stopping me from getting a nvidia shield tab.. Seriously just put 4gb ram in it please and up the price by maybe $30 and i will pay for it in a heart beat!!!!!
This looks like the old version (model sm-t550) with 1.5gb ram and 1024 by 768 screen, not the 2016 version (sm-t580) which has 2gb ram and fhd screen. I would not buy this tablet, especially at this price.
If you want a tablet for around $300 right now I would look at the Lenovo tab 3 business. The main selling points being 32gb storage and fhd screen.
Whats the main difference between this and the tab s2's? This woukd make them roughky the same price. I never understood the A and the S line. Aspect ratio?
S2 is the premium model. Much better screen (OLED + higher resolution) and internals.
For the same or similar price? I don't get why people don't just get the s2's?
Tab S2s are more expensive than this normally. I'd assume it's like why people choose to buy recent budget model over older premium model (since that's exactly what this situation is).
@Oversimplified: not on ebay and gumtree they're not
Even past deals on them on ozb have come close
@AlienC: Hence why I said "normally". Tab S2 is around $500 right now on eBay, I assume that's a grey import (from their description). Buying one second hand isn't exactly something everyone is comfortable with either. Anyways, the big retailers have them at $569~700 and I think that's their "normal" price range. My brief ozbargain search shows $400 to be the lowest point (and that was last year, around this time).
Some people buy budget model because of reasons. Budget might be their only priority, they might not be as tech savy so they might grab newer budget one thinking it's the better model or they might be going in thinking budget one has enough performance. The list would go on, I'd assume.
I personally wouldn't, but that's just me.
S2 is more expensive. But it has been seen for around this price before.
@Oversimplified: i have seen some wifi models around the $370 price range
No way i would pay $500 for one when i can get a nvidia shield tab for nearly half the price from amazon
@AlienC: Hmm, I do remember seeing 8 inch models at this kind of price, but I can't remember seeing 10 inch ones at this kind of price. I probably wasn't looking hard enough.
Anyways, the point I was making is, these budget ones are readily available at a cheaper price, from the retailers that people are more comfortable with (No grey importing or going into second hand).
I never liked the idea of getting new budget devices (they cut costs here and there, it's better to get a old flagship or get a new flagship instead). That said, they are cheaper.
I do agree that the price of those tablets are too high for what they are. To be honest, I would've expected price of Tab S2 to be at around this price (judging from the age of the model) from big retailers. Manufacturers really should release a new model so that the market is not stagnant with older products. Something that's 2 years old shouldn't still be one of the better performers in the market. I can't think of anything other than Shield and Mediapad M3 and those are all 8 inch models. Pixel C is the only 10 inch model that I think I can definitively say is better, but they've been out of stock for a while now.
Also available at target for $349.
