  • Is this still working for Netflix?

    • +1

On-and-off. Probably not worth subscribing to if you'll only use it if for Netflix.

      • thanks! will pass.

        • +2

No loss. Gave up trying to use it for Netflix.

      • does it work for bittorrent

        • Yes

        • @sav11: oh my god i can $59 and get vpn for bittorrent for life?

is there a monthly data cap?

    • Essentially, no.

It's broken so often that you might as well just not bother. I gave up after a few weeks and now I'm back to watching regular AU Netflix.

Might be worth it if you're going to use it for other stuff.

    • It works for me.

Subscription term is for 5 years. At the conclusion of the 5-year term, customers may renew their subscriptions completely free-of-charge by contacting [email protected].

    • I wouldn't trust stacksocial on that
But I just used it to re-activate an old Getflix account & mine now expires in Nov 2046. So 20yrs is a long time in internet land.

        (that's 30 years, mate)

        • No I'm old ill be dead in 20 yrs :-)

Or I'm just innumerate.i forget which.

    Hasn't worked for a few months now…

It's working right now for me, they recently put up a bunch more servers. It is definitely inconsistent though.

  • Can anyone provide some info on Getflix VPN quality please. I am very keen to get a VPN service but not sure which provider is good.

    • +1

Never had any issues and I've been using it since day one. I get close to my crappy 7Mbps when using the VPN and they have plenty of countries available to connect to.

There may be better ones out there but you pay more for them, in some cases, much more.

  • Is there a code for living social too?

  • Cant recommend enough, very proactive, just checked since people saying no, yup working fine, maybe dont sign up with an aus cc and aus address, i dont think the dns is the entire issue.

  • where do you enter the code for getflix? Can't seem to find it
    Edit: Oh found it

  • Getflix is pretty much useless for Netflix. I use it for Hulu and Amazon Prime (works fine for that).

PureVPN is not very good. I bought it some months ago. It didn't work on my Mac. They promised a credit. After some months of it not appearing they reneged.

    • how is the getflix vpn

      • Dunno, don't use it.

      • have a crack at IBVPN - stack has got 25% off VPN's today & a 3yr IBVPN sub is $us29.25 you can get a free trial on android app. I've been using Torguard, but this is much quicker (I used tpo use them years ago when they started a smart DNS service). I found the Getflix UK VPN quite slow & didn't seem to work for the BBC iPlayer.

  • is there a way to setup the getflix settings (network address, subnet mask and gateway) if you're using a 4g router? I don't mind having it plugged in via usb or use as wifi.

I'm using Optus E5573 modem under OVO and I'm getting the netflix proxy error (U8). I'm not sure where/how I can enter the settings that getflix says to put?

    • I changed my dns setting in the TV itself and left the modem as is. So far no issues. Using it on a 2014 Samsung and 2016 LG webos systems

      • ah ok I'm using it on my pc/laptop. Any idea how to set it up on there?

        • All the info u need is here http://www.getflix.com.au/setup/windows-pc

        • @Dezeption: Did that. And it says "service test passed". But when I go to run netflix under usa 8, it says error you're under a proxy and blocks me from watching anything.

I saw somewhere on Ozbargain someone mention to follow the steps here if that occurs
          https://www.getflix.com.au/netflix-update

But I don't think theres a way to place those settings on the optus 4g router I have. I wonder if using the getflix VPN would work

        • @teehee: that's old I'm on US0 and have zero problems… Have you tired using both the webbrowers and the app? Give them a try, if not contact getflix

        • @Dezeption:
contacted them and they said my region is currently down for netflix.

  • I've been using getflix for US Netflix for years now. Still have no issue. Only difference now is its only US servers and maybe only twice have I needed to restart the app on my TV to stop the VPN error

  • PureVPN any good?

    • +1

I've used PureVPN, PIA, Getflix, VPN Unlimited, and Cyberghost.

For Netflix, Getflix is basically no good so far as I can tell (and indeed none of them seem to be).
For general VPN, PIA has been the best by quite margin. PureVPN is OK. Cyberghost was meh. VPN Unlimited was rubbish.

      • yeah VPN unlimited is slow (to connect & throughput) but it's the only one I can use with the BBC iplayer app to d/l eps for offline. (I've tried torguard, getflix VPNs).

  • I've been using free opera vpn service on my android and cast netflix to tv using chromecast and it works fine, not sure why you would need this paid service

  • Just got an email from Stacksocial. Supposed to be an additional 25% off VPN deals. I already have a lifetime membershiip but in theory you should be able to get 25% off the 59$ PureVPN deal at the moment. (so 44.25 US for 5 years + free +5 after that on application)

Cant see if it works tho but mught be wortha look.

  • My Getflix subscription ran out today and I found this. Thanks.

  • Just purchased, and it can applied to existing GetFlix Account.
    XD
