Nvidia Shield 16Gb
Price comes down to £141.66 + £18.74 shipping = £160.40 on check out as i paid in British Pound. Not sure if this is a good deal as i am desperate for one. I was estimating it to be around AUD250 from past experience on base.com purchases.

I know right as i just made the purchase but i cant seem to login my bank now to see how much AUD was charged.
You probably haven't been charged yet. Amazon don't tend to charge instantly. It works out to be roughly $240 depending on what bank.
One of these two sites will help you conversion rates if you have paid using a Visa or Mastercard.
Not GREAT. But not BAD. And when you consider how out of stock it is everywhere, you don't have much choice.
Just be aware if you are planning on using it wirelessly. The EU models do not support three number channels for 5ghz (eg. channel 165).
Edit: Look at the price history on Camel Camel Camel. It has seldom if ever been more than this price. But again, no stock anywhere.
I wanted one so badly, I even bought Amazon gift cards on their monthly targetted promotions on Amazon US, anticipating a deal on there.
OOS :(Not GREAT. But not BAD. And when you consider how out of stock it is everywhere, you don't have much choice.
I was hoping for a repeat of last year's Cyber Monday special from Amazon but it is not even clear if they will be available then.
I really really wanted one of these and have used Rokus, Apple TVs, Fire TVs and Android boxes. In the end I just got another Xbox One.
Exactly what I thought.
Noob here, what people use this for?
And with that price, why dont use Xbox one for about the same price?Dolphin on Android TV
Kodi
I went from Kodi, which I still use on my home network, to Emby which works flawlessly as streaming (my home server files) over the internet. Now there is Ember on Xbox One there's a decent alternative to Kodi. Far less customisation options but less screwing around when something falls over.
The main reason I got mine was because it has Plex media server, rather than having to leave a pc running it uses a lot less power and no noise. The other good thing is streaming games from your pc, but a steam link is better suited for that purpose.
Don't they recommend the Pro version for Plex?
@Maxdax: If you have less than 500 gb of media then yes, but many people have more so they already have an external they use.
@tatopants: I may be wrong but I read somewhere that plex replicates the movie data base files (on nvidia device) and this can't be done on an external HDD, and hence the 16gb (even though your media is sitting in an external HDD) is not suitable for plex and they recommend the Pro Version. I myself am waiting to buy the Pro however it seems a Ver 2 is anticipated soon. Cheers
Best media device I have ever had and probably the only one I will ever need.
Paid around $350 AUD about 6-7 mths back. Also available on Amazon France for just about the same price.
Very happy with mine over the last year, except the voice search on remote stopped working a while back.
never used that feature. It won't understand my asian accent anyway lol
it's super handy to quickly search for a tv show/movie in various apps.
Did the price just go back up?
Want to pull the trigger. Assume I can use an Ethernet cable to get around the 5.8ghz issue?
Also does anyone know when the new model is being released?
Do I need to buy a new power cable with this or do I use a converter?
I'm going to plug a usb hdd into this to watch local movies. Assume this will play everything well?
Thanks
Looks like not available in this price?
Might want to put AUD price in title
