$20 off Your First Rideshare | $5 Credit for Every Rideshare @ goCatch (New Customers, Melbourne)

180
RIDEMEL20EARN5

GoCatch is offering 2 offers for Melbourne as they have just launched ridesharing in Melbourne (CBD, Richmond, Prahran, and St Kilda):

  • $20 off off your first rideshare using code RIDEMEL20. New customers.
  • Earn $5 credit after each rideshare (All Customers). 1st 5,000 rides. Until November 6 30. It appears the credit will also expire Nov 6 30. Email I received Sorry for formatting

So the good thing is you can stack codes which I think you should be able to do here.

So sign up via a referral for $15 (can't stack referral + code) then enter RIDEMEL20 code for $20 off the 1st ride and enter EARN5 for $5 credit after the first ride.
If you are riding in October (today at time of posting), stack GIVEME10 for $10 credit & GIVEME5 for $5 credit.

EARN5 T&Cs:

The EARN5 promotion ends AEST 23:59, Wednesday, November 30, 2016. You will earn $5 credit after you take a GoCatch Rideshare only. You will not earn $5 credit if you take a Taxi trip. You can use this credit on a GoCatch Rideshare or Taxi. EARN5 can not be used in conjunction with any other promotions. Any credit accrued through this $5 GoCatch rebate offer will expire at AEST 23:59 November 30, 2016. An eligible Payment Method must be entered into your GoCatch account in-app in order to request a GoCatch Rideshare or Taxi. To enter a payment method in-app, tap Menu, select Account and then Payment Methods. Offer limited to the first 5,000 rides. Extended until the end of November.

  • Anyone done the sums on which ridesharing service is generally cheaper? Uber or GoCatch? Does one go into 'surge' mode more frequently than the other?

  • This is just a taxi hailing app, isn't it? I'd still rather use an Uber in all circumstances outside surge pricing, the quality of cars is much better than your typical clapped-out vinyl-clad Camry Hybrid or FG Falcon.

These codes don't apply to taxis, only rideshare which I believe will be similar to the variety of cars on UberX.

    • the quality of cars is much better

      Really?

      • Is there an echo in here? yes, i would rather be picked up by modern mid-size cars than clapped out Falcons and Camries that have clocked over half a million km.

got picked up in an uberX the other day in a 2015 BMW 5 series…was nice :) that'll never happen with a taxi.

but since neil has suggested GoCatch are doing ride-sharing as well, I might give this a go.

No, although you can book taxis using GoCatch you can also book "rideshare" AKA Uber. Vehicle requirements are stricter in GoCatch than Uber so you will receive better cars on average. GoCatch requirements:

Be a medium-large size hatchback, sedan or larger (Uber allows small cars like Nissan Micra, Suzuki Swift, etc.)
2009 or newer (Uber allows 2007 or newer)
Max 150k kms on the odometer (Uber no restrictions)

Thanks Ozbargain! From my previous 10$ off deal, I have racked up $310 in credit :)

  • Says cant redeem ridemel20 because there is already credit on the account… ($15 from referral)

    • Ah that sucks. That wasn't always the case. Have updated description.

  • Considering using it, but there's so many recent bad reviews… https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gocatchapp…
