Using a Pioneer VSX-519V now - it's a bargain for this price.
Feel bad for those who bought it at RRP…around $500I got the Pioneer VSX-1019v the last time they had this discount at JB. Great discount without even haggling.

I think it's simply assumed that HDMI-capable AVR's that can decode HDMA and True-HD can also decode LPCM since it is already uncompressed. It would be a pretty useless HDMI AVR if it couldn't do LPCM, because not all devices (namely phat PS3) can bitstream.

indicates that these low end receivers can output the latest HD audio via LPCMFor a unit under $240 (during promo) thats pretty darn good!
IMHO with most average entry Blu-Ray players etc able to decode all the various hi-end vid/audio protocols why pay extra for the Receiver capability as well
They had a very limited range in the Wollongong store. About 3 if I remember correctly. None of them too impressive (entry-level models). I'm gonna try the Warrawong store to see if they have more as I need a new receiver with HDMI.
JB are ripp offs. i saw the pioneer rd6513 for $248 3 days before this sale started. and a few others the same.

i also bought it 2 weeks ago for $210, that including the 10% off sale that was going on that weekend.
its now $298. typical JB.
Beware Melbourne CBD store has closed similar offers early - last time they had 30% off, I went to the CBD store on the last day (after ringing to check they had stock) and was told offer finished yesterday.
Damn good price for some of those Pioneers.
