Quickly corrected that iPgone typo lol… thought it was a new product.

  • +8

Damn, wish we could get a good price on the 64gb.

  • +18

Tiny screen, 16gb with no expandable storage, for $535, meh.

    • +6

fit most pockets size, brilliant battery life, smooth and fast performance in a compact form, no extrusive camera ;) - somehow the cons can be pros, depends on who gonna use them. I love 7 Plus for entertainment and other things but iPhone SE been my main phone for pocket friendly size :)

      • I agree most mums and dads who may not be in videos etc will love this form factor but buying a phone for that price sitting in your pockets for most times is not money well spent. Then again Apple lovers can't be argued with ;-)

        • +10

Then again Apple lovers can't be argued with ;-)

Neither can Apple detractors to be fair

        • I don't understand the reason to neg me. At least tell what you felt offended about.

      • But tiny phone doesn't deserve the $535 :)

        • +5

You clearly like big phones. Some people don't, but want the specs of a 6s. That's why this phone exists. Each to their own!

        • @pifts:

I clearly don't dislike that phone, I just don't like the price.

        • +1

I don't see it as that tiny of a phone. It has a tiny screen with poor body to screen ratio. I had a 5s for a while, which is basically the same body/screen size and the actual size of the device never really seemed much of an advantage to me. If Apple could make a phone at 4 inches with a similar screen to body ratio that many 5 inch phones have than it could be really tiny. Apple have this problem with all their phones though, the plus phones aren't much smaller than some 6 inch phones. Combination of thinness and fitting all the components in the form factor I guess are the main problem with keeping the size down. So despite using only a 4 inch screen it still ends up with a similar body length and width to some ~4.5 inch screen phones, which isn't much different to a 5 inch screen phone at the end of the day. I think it's similar situation with how Samsung can fit capacitive buttons on their phones without taking up any real space, because you always need the chin to fit the components underneath.

I think the redmi 3s is a killer smallish phone, because it manages to have a relatively small footprint but with a freaking huge battery. I wish more manufactures stop caring about thinness/weight and went for a larger battery instead.

      • +1

I'll second this, i just went from a s5 to the iphone se and im loving it so far. Why so much obsession with ridiculously big screens? Give me a phone i can actually use with one hand!

    • I'd trade my 64GB iPhone 6 towards a 64GB iPhone SE for the right price.

  • +20

An Iphone with 16GB and no micro-sd at $500. This is a crime against humanity…

    • I so like this comment. 16GB for that price for a phone that does nothing more than a $50 phone. Because I'm not sure if you can install many useful apps with that size.

      • +3

I wish you could find a phone for $50 that offered the performance, screen quality and as good main camera as this phone does though. It's quite sad though, you can find budget phones for around $50 that can beat this with a better front facing cameras. There's even that Alcatel that is $59.50 at moment, and it has a front facing camera with flash on the front. It's actually getting pretty impressive what you get in some budget smartphones nowadays. The thing that kills many lower end phones is the lack of ram and storage.

        • This lower end phone has 16GB storage with even less left after the OS install.

    • +14

      Old phone?

        • +29

Released March 31, 2016. Just in case you missed it.

        • @tightarse:

          I slept through it.

    • +2

tiny storage yes, for most people.. but just because it has an older style shell definitely doesn't mean its automatically old, this performs just as good as my partners 6s

      • +3

Because the hardware inside is identical to the 6S (sans stuff like 3D Touch) :P

Although some people do also prefer a smaller phone as it's easier to use with one hand, and I for one much prefer the design of the 5/5S more than the new style they've gone with.

    • Old phone that outperforms most current Android offerings. With the obvious exception of multi core, however, QC's chips get throttled rather quickly and there are magnitudes more cores. Apple make the best mobile SOCs, anyone who disagrees has no idea what they're talking about.

      • Holden is better than ford, anyone who disagrees has no idea what they're talking about

See how annoying statements like that are?

        • A more accurate example would be that Intel is better than AMD. Though that wouldn't go with the point that you try to put forward that apple's SOCs are on par with others, they're simply not, much like the best AMD CPUs compare to intels mid-range. The Intel/AMD comparison is actually quite accurate. AMD are all about multi core, more processors, Intel are all about greater IPC, lower power consumption and thus less heat. These exact characteristics are true with Apple and Qualcomm, Qualcomm will produce an eight core processor with great threading capabilities but it'll run hot because of how high it's clocked. Having better IPC means you can increase the number of instructions or operations in a cycle. Cycles are represented in GHz, which is why the 2.2GHz i5 is better than the 3.8 GHz Pentium 2. Your comparison would only be valid if either Holden or Ford could maintain maximum speed for a short period of time and had to stop, whilst the other manufacturer didn't suffer this issue.

      • +1

According to Geekbench 4, the A9 scores higher than the s820 in Single core performance and in multicore performance. The latest Qualcomm s821 chip loses to the A9 too in both categories based on Geekbench 4. Where iDevices beat Android devices is in storage speeds. General loading up applications are pretty much equal, but as soon as you start loading up games that take a longer time to launch, you'll notice the huge difference in performance. So for most typical users, they aren't going to notice a huge difference between the two performance wise.

  • Wish there was a deal for iPhone 6s Plus 64GB

    • +2

      Any deals on 128GB 6S?

  • +6

Tightarse, so curious as to how you negotiate with these people? They mates of yours?

    • +55

Not at all, and thanks for asking. I've built up a relationship via PM with Mobileciti, Shopping Express, PC Byte, Mushtato, and others. When I see deals I believe will do well on OzB, I contact them and the negotiations begin :)

      • +18

        Thanks for helping out!

        • +11

Pleasure. Gotta love a thank you that gets neg'd. So here, have a + and enjoy the rest of your day :)

      • What a legend!

      • Thanks TA again. This is exactly what I was waiting for from Big W when they dropped the price for the 64G version. I was waiting for the 16G to drop down to around $500. Now I hope the wife hadn't busted her CC yet…

      • -6

So no kickbacks? find it hard you would be doing for knicks.

        • +21

Haha, there's always one. No kickbacks, and been made very clear across numerous posts. Further, there's been a handful of times I've been offered (but never accepted) goods in exchange for a post and each time I've taken a screen shot of the PM and handed it over to the mods for totally transparency.

        • +1

          @tightarse: Good on ya mate.

        • @tightarse:

It seems people here expect your skill-set of negotiating deals to not be compensated. I know the type… They're like those friends you help out, say negotiate the purchase of a new car… Save them thousands that they definitely couldn't have done it themselves…and they wouldn't even thank you with buying you dinner or a box of favourites coz you got commission anyway. Scabs.

That's why I never expect favours from mates that own businesses, even the ones that are very successful. II go in expecting to pay what they charge, yeah there's the stubborn ones that give me incredible deals.. but they're gonna be seeing some fine dining real soon or some gourmet cakes or some shit sent for all of their staff to enjoy that same day if possible.

      • Thanks daddy

  • lol that's a pretty cool code

  • Any deal on iPhone 6s or 6s Plus 64GB Rose Gold ?

  • +1

    up vote for code …

    • TIGHT AR-SE

      • Thank you Captain Obvious.

  • these do include GST yeah? just wondering whether the tax invoice is issued for $535 or for the original price as is the case with Ebay sales? Thanks TA

    • +3

Yes inc GST, invoice will be issued for $535.

      • thanks mate, sounds good,

I'm still waiting for HTC 10 to go on sale, might have to be patient and wait for Christmas.

  • +4

    TA, negotiate nexus please

    • This ^

They didn't respond when I tried.

    • +1

ditto +1 NEED A NEXUS PHONE!

    • Yessssssssssssssssssssssss, 64gb or 128gb!!!!!!

  • +1 for the code!

  • +3

Would be keen on a nexus 6p 64gb deal. :)

    • This - Or Nexus 5X.

  • I have one of these its great phone but battery life is rubbish. I use this as a second phone so mostly on standby, apple website claim 10 days standby but the max i get is one or two days.

    • They might quote values assuming that it isn't hunting for mobile networks? That's a huge battery killer. Not sure what dodgy practices manufacturers use to quote battery life these days. For laptops I always halve it, for phones I assume max 3 days when new and 2 days not long after

      • It's probably battery life quoted on flight mode or some thing.

        • Even with flight mode i can only get two days. Im suspecting that i have a bad battery but i'm just lazy about going and waiting in apple store :\

      • My old blackberry classic can easily last for 5 days with no issue. The phone is always running with full signals and i have disabled the mobile data as i only use it with wifi.

        • I just recently ordered a used HTC One 801s through eBay but it won't be here until next week. I will see how long the battery life will last on that one. :)

On the crappy HTC Desire 301s i currently have i keep having to recharge the battery every two days.

  • +2

If anyone is wanting a 6P, Google just released an update to Nougat and it's now better and faster than ever.

Thought about reverting to Marshmallow but I am enjoying the phone all over again.

Not even considering the Pixel phones.

  • When does this deal expire?

  • +2

I love the SE, I would buy two just to have one for each hand.
It's the perfect gentlemans phone, fits in your front or back pocket and doesnt take up half your face when you want to speak.
It's just a shame they didnt make a similar size with the 7 as well, but this will do a for a few more years…

    • +1

I'm thinking of grabbing this and retiring my 6.

For real though, I might grab two like you said, connect em with a chain and nun chuck fools set trippin on that rival phone manufacture business

      • +1

        HAH!

I didnt think of making nun chucks, but i like that idea, with a nice 80s style chain belt.

I had the 5S and it was running a little slow, so this is same size, better camera, runs quicker and fits all the old cases and screen protectors.

    • Does your battery last over one day? I have one these and i can never get anything over 1 day on standby with zero use other than staying on the desk!

      • I dont have bluetooth turned on, disable most options and gps stuff, and generally i can get a day or two as its mainly just calls / texts.
I havent really noticed the battery life different to the 5S

        • Is SE's battery bigger than 5S?

        • @jasonchen59:

Not sure, i know the phone is almost identical in size, so you'd guess maybe its about the same?

      • +1

Have you got Facebook installed? It would have to be the number one reason that people have battery life issues with any iPhone.

It sometimes gets stuck in an active state when in the background. For some, it seems to start doing this when updating to major iOS releases (9.x to 10) or major point updates (ie: 9.2 to 9.3).

Basically, uninstalling then switching off and on, then reinstalling usually fixes this.

Also, some other apps with VoIP like abilities can suffer the same issue as they usually spend a lot of time polling the network in the background, or require a constant connection so then the phone can't sleep the radios as much as usual. They're starting to improve now with iOS 10 officially providing a means to do this, but still relies on the app being updated to take advantage of the new functionality.

There are more possible things like iCloud Photos getting stuck while uploading, which was an issue I had in 9.3.

        • I tried everything i even did fresh restore and started from scratch. I believe i have a faulty battery or apple is making misleading claims. No way a perfectly running phone would run out of juice in one day with absolutely no use except setting in standby.

        • +1

I went further and now just have a safari shortcut to Facebook on my home screen. Apart from the battery drain is the size FB balloons to.

    • "…perfect gentlemans phone"
      I thought it's woman's phone.
Why women buy small watches, you cannot even see the time?
Because they care about the looks, not the time. LOL
      Sorry ladies for stereotyping.

I had large smartphones since 2004 & functionality is more important than size.
Of course I have many pockets & belt clip case for instant access regardless of clothes (even beachwear).

      • +3

Women that buy small watches are elegant ladies and have refined taste…like women, men that buy big watches are viewed as gaudy in the gentleman's eyes. A gentleman hasn't got time to mess with belt clip cases and bulging pockets or extra ones at that. A real gentleman can stunt with a Nokia 8210. It keeps their chat game tight and the texts light when it comes to mackin on the honeys.

  • +1 for the code!

  • +1

+1 for this phone. Bought 1 for my wife when they were released (she loved her iP5, so I suggested this). Weighs only 1gm more than the 5S. Exact same dimensions otherwise.
Blazingly fast, battery life is solid and of course it's size is much loved. If you love iOS, do yourself a favour.

  • Anything for 6?

  • I got the 64gb version for $569 during that ebay sale

  • -1

Size is too small for my wife. No deal.

    • +2

      Thats what she said

  • Or you can sign up a 24 months phone plan (Iphone SE 16gb) with optus starting from 40/month.

If you have optus home internet, the internet service will deduct 20 dollars per month even.

  • +1

Keen for any 6S Plus and & 7 Plus deals :)

  • +1

Any possibility of a Nexus 5x deal?

    • I double that! A Nexus 5x deal would be great!

  • I so wanna be this phone coz it reminds me of iPhone 5! But Happy with my 2 phones!
