TDK iWave $69 Save $60

60

Quality unit for price incl. remote control, cheapest I've seen elsewhere is $129.

Was on my way in to buy a Logitech S125 for $39 but thought this was far better value for an extra $30.

It's on Page 12 of the current catalogue

The TDK iWave is a 2.1 stereo audio system and iPod dock with a remote control. It uses two 5 Watt speakers and a 10W subwoofer, and these deliver great sound.

The subwoofer produced rich bass, while the two 5W speakers emitted smooth treble and solid mid tones. It even withstood our ‘houseparty’ test, in which we turned up the system to its maximum volume. There was no distortion during this test and the overall sound quality of the iWave was impressive. The system has five preset equaliser settings: Flat, Rock, Pop, Classic and Jazz. There are also boosts for surround sound and bass (X-Bass), which can only be turned on and off using the remote control. It would have been a plus to be able to access these functions on the iWave itself.

Link to that page of catalogue, top right.

  • Thanks for the tip!

  • This is the one I have.
It's a great price, I got mine from JB hifi for $98. But personally I wouldn't recommend it.
    If I did, I wouldn't be looking for a new one. :P

In my opinion, these are the cons:
It's too bright even at the lowest.
No iPhone shielding. Has annoying interference noises frequently unless it's set to airplane mode.
Sometimes the buttons screw up, e.g. for a while mine had the volume increasing for no reason. I had to turn it off and on to fix it.

Apart from that though, it's a pretty good iphone dock.

  • Some good points, I tested quite a few docks that I was looking to match with my iPod Touch, really just something for my bedroom.

I use the TuneIn Radio App thru my home wi-fi(which is awesome, can tune into virtually any radio station in the world without reception problems), so I wasn't really interested in the clock or radio functionality, but wanted reasonable sound and a remote.

The only one I really liked sub $200 was the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere at DSE for $168, anything esle just seemed to sound tinny. The iWave with 2.1 sound at least has a separate sub-woofer.

    • sorry…delete

  • awesome price. Was gonna buy this for 99 bucks from alwaysonsale and luckily they are so crap in delivery that i bought a sony ipod dock instead which is awesome.
