how do you justify $844 for just a phone?

    • I really believe that having the right phone..and a good phone, can REALLY REALLY boost productivity.

I'm really savy..but one thing I never stinge out on is a mobile phone…having said that, I wouldn't personally buy intenraetional stock…heck, i wouldnt even buuy an iphone. MY whole ecosystem is google/android

But hopefully useful for someone else.

I really believe that having the right phone..and a good phone, can REALLY REALLY boost productivity.

You're delusional if you think an $800 iPhone 6s is going to make a uni student and more "productive" than a $200 iPhone 4.

        • Not delusional…

It's by far the best investment I (personally) could make. I stand by that.

Slow phones cost you time and money. With a good phone linked to a good ecosystem (in my case, google drive), sharing files, assignments, emailing professors, having multiple tabs open on my phone browser, downloading lectures and watching them on the bus without worry about battery life etc is worth more than the ~$600-$800 for me (over the 24-36 month life of the phone)

@unistudent1: You can do all of that with an iPhone 4, 4s, 5, 5s or 6. There's no need to waste $$$ for a newer phone with marginal benefits. Guess what: Google drive, email clients, web browsers and media players all run just fine on older phones.

The best investment you could make right now is in Petrel Energy, or if you're risk averse, in a good index fund.

        • +1

@unistudent1: You can do that on a $179 phone.

Also it's a loss not an investment.

And before you say it's an "investment in mah education" there's little evidence that buying IT equipment improves educational outcomes although to be fair it just seems to do nothing as opposed to anything bad. So why would buying a phone change anything?

If you want a iPhone that's good but attempting to justify it as a learning tool well that's foolishh.

    • In the same vein of things, most of the students I see at melb uni use MacBooks. It's nuts.

      • They must be the smart ones

      • +1

because it would be shameful to live in melbourne and not use a rustic alumnium laptop carried in your crumpler bag, slung over your side as you ride your minimalist single gear push bike to uni to study graphic design

Aus stock was $854 @ Mobileciti

    • Super low stock as well..

Given that 6S is discontinued I've noticed prices have gone up in last couple days (at least on Ebay). Particularly Rose Gold (Super high demand for some reason).

  • +1

If you don't mind getting Gold or Rose Gold (64GB) these will be $793.60 in the upcoming eBay sale.

    • If Kogan dont put the prices up

    • still grey stock though I think

      • yeah but still a good price albeit missing additional 12 month warranty

6 series was by far apples ugliest….. yuck!!!!!!

  • -1

Nexus 6P would be a relatively better option at approx the similar price

  • Unlike Samsung and other android bot phones, apple does a single phone for worldwide consumption, so grey import would not be a problem. Personally had no troubles with 3 iPhones bought this way, and saved $100s.

    • Does that mean that Even grey imports can be returned to apple store for fixing (should there be an issue)

      • Sure, you get the standard 1 Year Warranty from Apple like anywhere else. Only Apple AU will take care of the additional 12M warranty if bought locally AU stock.
