  • price linked does not include delivery - should be $833.55, still a good price tho.

    • +2

You need to change it to free delivery at checkout ;)

      • +3

Duly noted, they are getting sneakier by the day.

      • +3

        'FreeShippingTech' - lol

    • Sad, just mine on friday for $950 :'(((((

  • +1

These guys aren't based in Australia are they?

    • +1

They are based in New Zealand but from what I have read in previous posts they do have a warehouse in Sydney as well.

  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB SC GAMING ACX 3.0 still available for ~886 AUD from this previous Amazon deal. Is the difference worth it?

    • +1

Cooler is the same, and by most reports Pascal all clock pretty much the same, if you're bothered to overclock yourself.

      • I've never bothered to overclock my self in the past.

I do have a Groupon voucher from the other day, so this purchase would bring it down to $805.21. Cash rewards bring it into sub $800 territory. Very tempted.

    • +2

I found this to be quite useful in understanding the differences between the EVGA GTX 1080 variants:

  • ok, i have a shitty dilemma: I only played Dota 2, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. Sometimes,i play other games like Warhammer 2, Company of heroes 2 and rarely i play FPS. Yes, I do play new games, but dont have enough time.
Should i sell my Asus Strix Oc 1070 and buy this card, as Im going to upgrade my monitor to Acer Predator XB321HK 32" IPS 4k G-Sync?

    Any advice, guys?

    • +6

no advice to give sorry, that is a 1st world problem for sure

    • +3

Those are all older games. Don't waste your money IMO.

    • +1

Tbh I think the 1070 is enough for your needs, get the monitor and then see if you really need the new card. After all you can look at amazon where the price for the card is near the same here in aus with discount. Also you would probably lose $100-200 on selling the 1070

    • +7

      Sell the 1070 and buy a 1060 :P

      • +2

Sell the 1070 and buy a 1060 and use iGPU :P

    • Play HotS instead of DotA 2.

Wait until you upgrade your monitor, and if your needs aren't met, then consider a 1080. By that time the price will drop and another sale will come up.

      • Play HotS instead of DotA 2.

Why down grade to a shittier game? :P
By definition Dota meets the Ozbargainer's idea of cheap game, seeing as you only pay for cosmetics.

      • lol at HotS, such an inferior game at every aspect.

    • Both are overkill for those games. Tbh Nvidia releases a new series every 18 months so the 11 series will be out before you know it.

  • +1

Couldn't resist the deal, thank you.

  • +1

Jesus. If these prices keep dropping i may have to upgrade my 1070. I should've waited

    • -1

Nah, just get another and run in SLi

  • Thanks OP, i bought 17.

    • At the time of checking, it says 4 sold…. how did you buy 17 of them?

      • because I bought 29

      • Well, you got me :)

I didnt for one second think someone would look up the stock value, and point out that i didn't in fact buy 17 x eVGA 1080's for $13953.77

        I certainly feel foolish now.

EDIT - good deal though, solid brand, good card.

  • Will they keep dropping?

    • +1

Probably, seeing as the GTX 1080 Ti is on the horizon so to speak… not to mention, this wasn't really a drop… more of a sale induced by ebay lol

    • I predict yes though I already pulled the trigger on a 1070.

  • -5

wow - you can get a complete gaming system for $800

    • -1

You'd be able to run Duke Nukem II at max settings for $800

      • Cmon guys be sensible. You can get great gaming from i5 6500 + gtx 1060

        • This is a no fun zone apparently haha, but seriously I doubt you could get a decent complete system for $800 especially if you want to run at max which is kinda the idea.

  • So tempted, but must wait till closer to BF1 launch to try save a few bucks.

    • I'm in the same boat.. It's a gamble on whether we'll see it cheaper by October 21. Mighty tempting.

      • I think we will see some minor price drops. I have nothing to play that warrants a 1080 until BF1 arrives so I'm happy to wait and see.

    • I played the beta very comfortably on my 1070, so maybe save yourself even more $$$

      • You're probably right. I only rebuild once every 5 years though so I'm going to future-proof it a bit further :)

      • From what you've played so far, would you say it's worth upgrading my computer for? I haven't tried out the game yet but I'm a big fan of the previous games.

        • +1

I don't know what you're currently running, but I thoroughly enjoyed the BF1 beta - Despite averaging around 45fps on my GTX 570. I've been waiting for a game that makes upgrading worthwhile, The Division let me down, but BF1 is it for me.

  • +2

i stop watching OZbargain for one day and i miss the deal i've been waiting for…

    • You can wait til the price drops further, or if you need it now… you can get it from Newegg for around $900 (shameless plug of a deal I posted before)

      • Thanks mate,I'll investigate that deal now!

  • Has anyone had their card posted yet?

    • Ebay notified me as being posted on 20th around 8 pm.

Auspost says "Processing - Shipping information approved by Australia Post 8:53pm Tue 20 Sep"

It hasn't updated since then, so I looked it up on New Zealand post which says "A tracking label has been created but your item isn't with us yet."

I paid extra for the expedited shipping, so if it's not here tomorrow I'm not going to be happy.

      • Thanks, hope you get it Tomorrow. I should of paid the extra dollars for expedited shipping too. Mine hasn't been sent yet, so might not get the card for another week, if i'm lucky.

        • It's a shame that it hasn't been sent yet. Their eBay page says that they normally ship within 1 business day of payment being cleared.

        • @blessthenoobs:
          Any luck?

        • I was wondering that myself. Mine came through customs late this morning in Sydney. It's being delivered by Fastway, so hope to get it tomorrow or the latest Wednesday.
FreeShippingTech really looked after me on this one. They had run out of stock, so I was offered the next model up, free of charge. Seems pretty much the same card, except for RGB LED and 2 Bios chips.

        • +1

@ChurchMouth: Card arrived on Friday morning! I was impressed. My card does seem to have quite a lot of coil whine though.

  • We now also have Gigabyte GTX1080 8GB G1 Gaming Over Clock Edition model for $865 for the next few days only http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gigabyte-GTX1080-8GB-G1-Gaming-Ov…

    • Thanks for that. Good price.
