Nissan X-Trail ST 2WD CVT $29,990 D/A + $1000 EFTPOS Card

130

Some really sharp deals from recently for SUVs from a number of manufacturers, including my previous post

This deal, however, I feel is vastly superior, despite the slight price increase

The X-trail is far better equipped, compared to the Outlander, and Nissan recently added a sweetener to the deal with a $1000 Eftpos gift card. You may be able to forgo the card and get the car for $28,990 D/A.

Compared to the Outlander, the X-Trail has the following over it

2.5 litre engine compared to a 2.0
Better CVT Transmission
Proximity key access to car and boot
Push button start
Rear car air vents
Configurable Divide-N-Hide™ cargo system

  • We were out looking recently and there sure are some hot deals on offer…
Mitsubishi Outlander 2wd auto $28k DA..
    Isuzu MU-X 4X2 LS-T 7 seat auto $41k DA…
Hyundai & Honda had some hot offers also.
    (NSW btw)

    • I think I will wait for a deal on Rav4

      • +1

        why?
RAV4 is unchanged from the late 90's, all you get is a different body and interior

        • Had a drive of a couple of Rav 4's and was disappointed. Low on power both of them.. but then all those size suv's with 4 cyl motors are. Coming from a Kluger V6 makes it more noticeable too.
Hyundai have re introduced the petrol V6 back into their Santa Fe range for a while.. testing the market i suppose? Can't beat the V6 for a smoother and effortless drive and with a well designed one driven sensibly the fuel economy is on par or even better than the 4 cyl's that are struggling to haul the weight.

        • Nothing specific. I bought my 3 years old Camry from Pickles. There was no issues even after 100K km travel. Apart from that re-sale values.

          @azm:
Our 2nd car is an ex auction camry… was about 2.5y/o when we got it so still had some manuf wty with it.
Had it for over 6 yrs now and would be one of the most easy to own cars ever. Just routine oil & filter and the expected consumables.. tyres, brake pads. Not an amazing car but better than most if you want comfort, economy & reliability. Depreciation over that time would be what most new cars would drop in the first year.

@xywolap: I am looking to upgrade as I need a second car. I always tried not to buy but to rely on s public transport. But now it's time to upgrade: since she is 8 years old -)

      • Good luck with that, azm, the big T relies on its reputation and rarely discounts it's lineup heavily (exception are Camry and Aurion).

        • I don't know but I am not so keen to buy a new car as ozbargainer. But I am considering a new car through novated lease/ salary packing. I am still justifying pros and cons.

@azm: if looking at a lease look up an associate lease.

          Best way you can go

        • @BKZ: heard the interest rates are 9% for the novated lease

        • +1

          @fritzsticker:
          Associate lease is different.

You purchase a vehiclr using cash or other loan like an addition to existing home loan.

Then the vehicle is listed under a partner or parent or other associate. That associate then leases the car to you. Still managed by workplaces novated salary provider. You save big $$$

Look up Sheridan associates in Canberra. They set up the lease contractyally. Real good to deal with and will explain it all. If your rnployer provides novated then they automatically provide an associate lease.

        • @BKZ: ah i see thanks for clearing that up

Bought one of these a few weeks ago and love it. Great deal.

  • I wonder if the CVT in these things is as dreadful as it is in other (smaller) Nissans?

Honestly, I found the CVTs so scary and horrid in city and suburban traffic… I now specifically ask NOT to have Nissan CVT's when I book my hire cars. Perhaps the CVT improves economy or performance? I dunno, and based on my driving experiences, I certainly don't care.

I recommend a long term test drive before buying, as these Nissans are pretty cheap and nasty in many ways (eg: interior plastics, overall refinement) and often that kind of stuff doesn't often show up during a short drive.

  • CVT issues have been a recent issue for Nissan, I think its both Pathfinder and XTrail and Nissan have publicly admitted very little, so hard to know what you may be getting… (Google it for more) Needless to say a dodgy CVT that Nissan won't necessarily cover under warranty is going to be expensive.

Was a shame, as we otherwise liked the car, but we didn't buy one. And the manual is only the base model nowadays.

  • I looked at the x-trails when I was tossing up between an Outlander and X-trail. Only thing that made me chose the Outlander was the significantly cheaper price I was able to get it for.

In saying that. If I was looking at this deal, i'd be considering the 4wd version for an extra $3,000

    X-TRAIL ST 4WD PETROL AUTO $32990 driveaway + $1000 gift card
