I came across this ultrabook while looking for something better but I thought this wasn't a bad deal. Ultrabook for less than $600 delivered, it's not flash but good enough for a teenager?

VAT get's taken off before you pay. ~ $595 using MasterCard rates.

Full HD good, German language site not so gut.

    • chrome automatically translates, well it tries :)

      • Only if you let the scripts in :-) The drop-down for English isn't a flag, but marked "DE" for "Deutsch". Maybe a hint in the description "Click drop-down globe by "Mein Konto" for English", as it took me a short while to find it, and my German is adequate if not brilliant …

The specs on the page only mention 1 USB2 port, but notebook check also credits it with 2 USB3 ones, which I'd expect for a 2015 machine:

  • Wouldn't it be a German version of Windows 10?

ahh yes that might be an issue but you can have it delivered without OS for 30 euros cheaper.

    • Then again, it shouldn't be nearly as much of a stretch for a moderately savvy Younger or Maiden to navigate the machine to set the Austalianische locale compared to a pictographic languaged unit :-p

    • Shouldn't it ask for language/locale on first boot?

      • Yes and even if it doesn't…. very easy to change ;)

Will have a german keyboard layout !!!

    • Almost a non issue for touch typers, others might not have an enjoyable time though :P

      • That depends. I touch type, and switch between a German and English keyboard. The Z-Y swap and locating the @ symbol on the German keyboard is annoying.

You can buy sticker sets to over label the keys, or even swap out the keyboard for an English keyboard - though by the time you do that you've lost your saving from buying German in the first place.

The i3 processor is certainly fast enough with SSD.

  • What about the 12 month international warranty?

Shouldn't the German model number be U-571?
