Sonoff TH 10/16 With enclosure!
Sonoff TH 10/16(Temperature & Humidity) is designed and produced by ITEAD, it is a Sonoff version smart switch that can monitor and set temperature and humidity through the APP eWeLink. It supports preset a temperature and humidity range, when the temperature and humidity of the environment fall into the range, it will automatically turn on or turn off connected devices.
The device supports connecting to three kinds of temperature and humidity sensors (AM2301, DS18B20, DHT11). Actually, Sonoff TH 10/16 can work as a Sonoff when without connecting to sensors. But compared to Sonoff, Sonoff TH10/TH16 is more safer, less radiation and in bigger size, easy operation. Most importantly, with the support of latest ewelink app, you can create chains of simple conditional statements(Smart Scene). This device is perfect to work with electric fan, air conditioner, humidifier, smart fish tank, watering system.

  • I seriously wonder about the legality of these devices, especially ones like this that require a break in the earthing conductor from a heater etc.

Are you able to provide any information as to the legality of this product? Is the product complaint to some form of Australian standard?

    • Thnaks for your attention
Sonoff 10/16 are produced in August, so now we haven't do any certification in time. But we will do CE Rohs and FCC
Other certification now not ready to do. If our customer need it, we will consider do it

    • Further, electrical certification seems to be state based. For NSW, http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/ftw/Businesses/Product_saf…?

    • Does it not need some sort of SAA approval?

    • I seriously wonder about the legality of these devices, especially ones like this that require a break in the earthing conductor from a heater etc.

Why does this require a break in the earthing conductor? It switches the active and there is no reason why you couldn't wire neutral and earth directly to the load but there are numerous joins in the existing wiring so what difference does it make.

      • Do you mean the GND? Connect to GND will protect from electricity leakage. Our wiring instruction picture is just a picture guiding you which port to connect which wire.

      • I'm only commenting on the wiring diagram provided.

Yes there are multiple joins. Joins which are connected together with an approved earth lug, or compliant terminal.

If the metal case of a heater were to become inadvertantly live, I wouldn't want to be banking on a cheap gadget to be my return path.

    • There is no reason this unit require a break in the earthing conductor.

It might not be wise to do that, as you rightly point out. But people should not be wiring a mains connected device like this without adequate knowledge / qualifications. So if people don't understand how to wire this device safely - either get help, or maybe it's not for you.

The photo on the site shows the Earth (& Neutral) connectors on the unit have 2 joined connectors for each of those wires. The additional connector is there if your installation would benefit from it & this setup is found on other switching gear.

The wiring diagram does suggest a break in the N & E wires - connected in this unit, but you certainly don't need to do that. If you have the knowledge to install this device, you should know this already.

You don't have to use both connectors on each of those wires. So no need to cut the Earth or Neutral wires, just the Active to insert this switching unit between the incoming Active & Load, switched by the 16A relay on the Active. Also wire 1 each of those pair of connectors to the Earth & Neutral to power this unit.

Am interested in using this device to remotely switch a 2400W heating unit. It requires a combination of temperature & timing controls, plus temperature monitoring which could be done via the App.

  • So, it's better to do it
I think Itead will do more certification with it's rapid growth

  • Hi Rep, can you do free shipping like last deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/245044

    • Yes, We will consider do it, but not now, may be after 1-2weeks

  • Can the app log temperature and humidity from the sonoff sensors or does it just display it in real time? I'm considering one of these for a wine cellar to control an airconditioner, but it would be useful to keep track of the temperature and humidity over a period of time.

    • Ripsnorta, it just display temperature and humidity in real time, if you want to keep track of the temperature and humidity over a period of time, you can look at several
