  • Is second sim 4G as well?

    • -1

Apparently so, it's on the pics in the listing

  • Only slightly, slightly cheaper @ AliExpress

    • Banggood does have a few promotions if you spend a few days doing the crazy lottery you might save a few more dollars.

    • I paid $339 fortnight ago from aliexpress.

  • very tempting does anyone know the real life battery duration ?

    • The battery life is all over the place between 5 hrs to 7hrs SOT.

  • i wonder if people in taiwan get as exasperated about the number of cheap phones without b28 as we do (/i do).

    • I don't think they even know what that is

      • +1

band 28 is just as important in taiwan (if not more so) than here. surprising that it isnt a standard band on more devices.

        • +1

most mainstream phones have band 28, iPhone, samsung, etc, lg, and there's lots of those in taiwan, it's just the phones made for chinese domestic market that don't.

    • +1

I think mnore people would be worried about it if people actually used the words, rather than trying to be elitist and using an Acronym

B28 sounds like a vitamin. BAND 28 is relevant.

      • I'd say the B-52's are relevant too. New wave isn't dead!

  • +1

If you do buy from Banggood I hope you get better luck and customer service than I have. I ordered some measurement equipment back in April which eventually came but was Dead On Arrival. I was finally offered a replacement unit after multiple emails and uploading video of the defective unit, but haven't heard back from them for the past three months despite multiple emails asking where it is. Pretty unimpressed at this point.

    • -1

      THREE MONTHS?

Serves you right for allowing yourself to be stuffed around.

You should have done a Paypal claim at 30 days.

      • umm.. thank you for your kind words :?) but good advice to chase up via Paypal. I've now done this and looks like I get up to 180 days after a Paypal payment to file a dispute.

        • Yes, you do get 180 days to claim for NON DELIVERY. But you certainly don't get anywhere near that long to claim Not as Described (faulty).

So, you will need to say that it never arrived, rather than being DOA… and there is a chance that vendor will show some written proof that you did receive it.

For next time… Sign up immediately for Paypal funded returns. https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/returns

Then next time you have a problem like that, do the Paypal claim immediately and post it back for a full refund. Done, solved.

        • @llama: Hmmm… ok, will check up on this. Definitely a case of faulty rather than non-delivery. Paypal's email confirming my 'case' didn't mention this distinction but I guess I might end up wearing a loss on it. Will certainly sign up for Paypal funded returns now. Still worth letting others know that Banggood has such lousy customer service, in my case anyway. Cheers.

Good phone. I Will try to negotiate a deal with Becky for this phone.

    • Say Hi to Becky for me ;)

      • I will for sure. But don't hit her with balls.

        • -4

Doesn't every girl want that though?

        • Edit

    • +1

You post first then I'll do my own negotiations ;)

      • I'm trying to do it below cost :-)

        • Not if I decide to do it as an EB deal…

  • Google play store installed?

    • With original zuk rom nope.

With custom dealer rom = yes

      • I have heard issues of chinese/aftermarket roms calling back to base. Personally I feel more comfortable running CM; I do realize this is not an option for everyone.

        • +1

Unofficial CM13 available for this phone whith minor issues as of 24/08 build.

        • check what apps they have …… some things we call bloat are popular basic apps e.g taibo, wechat, etc and if notifications is turned on, you get messages just like any other app.

        • some things we call bloat are popular basic apps e.g taibo, wechat, etc

Haha I USE wechat! I know what bloat is =P I mean calling back to base.

    • You can just sideload Google Play store if it isn't.

  • +2

No band 28, something to consider at this price, is a phone after all…

    • +2

a phone with no signal is no longer a phone after all…

  • Anyone considering to buy this phone, please have a look at the below link before going ahead with the order.

    http://zukfans.eu/community/forums/zuk-z2.5/

    • I just did. I'm no clearer on what you're trying to tell us.

I noted the screen was poor. That's all.

      • that forum will tell you about availability of customs roms, guide you thru rooting etc.

i asked to have a look at thatforum to get some feel about rom supporting community.

  • -3

Say no to another chinadroid. They are not worth the hassle.

    • r u calling iphone as chinapple?

    • These days most smartphones are manufactured in china, india

      • Woosh….

The problem isn't where they were made, but which market they were aimed at. These Chinese Android were for the Chinese market. Therefore no play store. Also since it's a Chinese phone, finding roms and other support will be a lot tougher as well, especially in English.

      • it's not where they are manufactured , it's for which market and hence what features they include. If you but a phone and need to load custom rom to get it work properly outside china ….. that's not a phone for most users, just enthusiasts, you'd expect OTA updates for your language and region if you are an average consumer..

  • Can someone explain to me why band28 is an important consideration point. Thanks!

    • It's a fast, resilient mobile phone radio frequency. If there is only band 28 available and your phone does not support it you will have no reception

    • It's a 4G frequency. It's far from essential, but desirable, especially as 2G will be shut down soon so 3G frequencies will be more congested.

    • +2

Lower frequency = longer wavelength = better penetration into buildings and such.

But more importantly, Telstra and Optus are both rolling it out.

      • they have rolled it out in many areas and is where much of their new investment is going, and it does band aggregation with band 28 so double the speed in some areas.

  • xiaomi note 4 is out. something that you may want to consider.

    • Specs come nowhere close though..so does the price :P

  • +1

according to chinese online shopping website customers feedback, only cpu is powerful, other components are all garbage.

    • +2

They probably spent all their budget on the Snapdragon processor, the rest is as you'd expect, second grade stuff.

Like building a computer with a Core i7 but with generic case and a 220watt Tsunami power supply.

      • What parts are we talking about here?

        • For the phone? eMMC, RAM, display, body material etc.

        • @Clear: How do you know the RAM and eMMC are crap? What does Samsung use?

        • @lostn: I don't. scrimshaw said they're probably using second grade parts so I listed what might be.

          Samsung use Samsung eMMC.

  • Cheaper than Mi5.

  • i have one of these. Decent little phone if you're looking for top specs at a low price. I'd say this and the mi5 are on par in terms of quality (note i own both). The mi5 camera is probably slightly better, but the zuk feels quicker

If you're a dual sim user, also note this is one of the few 4g+3g dual sim phones, so will still function when 2g network gets switched off

I reflashed the rom and it includes good play etc… Found it a bit easier to do compared to the non global rom xioami phones

    • which rom are you using mate?

    • Are you talking about the z2 or z2 pro? I'm considering getting this phone but I'm not sure whether the camera is very good or not…

      • decent little means my guess z2

        • hmm.. since you're looking at phones like this in this price range what do you think of the Le max 2? I'm tossing up between these two cheap sd820 phones…

        • @Kikkoman56:

if you are happy with the size go for it.

currently going for $318 from oppomart. the reason i went with zuk2 is mainly size, 4gb ram, 64gb rom.

I used 1+3, redminote 3 in the past, 5.5 isnt for me.

  • Is there a larger screen lenovo on sale?

I couldn't drop back to 5.0" from my 5.7" (Samsung Note 3) but could meet somewhere in the middle. Those specs above are amazing otherwise.

EDIT: Hmmm they do have a 5.2" version of this phone with a whopping 6GB RAM / 128GB Storage for around $533 (crude maths). 5.2" still ever so slightly too small for my needs though :/
    http://www.banggood.com/Lenovo-ZUK-Z2-Pro-5_2-inch-6GB-RAM-1…

Strangely battery capacity drops to 3100mAh on the bigger model.
