AMEX Platinum Edge - $195 Annual Fee (Bonus 30,000 Points)

120

I was looking for an AMEX card because it seems like I'm missing out on all the Statement Rewards deals and also I wanted to give Android Pay a go.

I did a quick google and came across this site that I've never heard of with a referral deal of 30,000 points for the Platinum Edge, which is more than the current 10,000 points on offer. All you have to do is spend $750 in the first 2 months to be eligible.

Clicking through from the website will redirect you to the American Express website.

Here are some details that I copied and pasted:

• Complimentary domestic return flight every year to selected destinations
• When you pay for travel on your Card you will receive Complimentary domestic and international Travel Insurance
• 0% p.a. on balance transfers for the first 12 months — A one-off credit plan establishment fee of 1% applies to any balances transferred.

• Earn 3 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at major supermarkets
• Earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at major petrol stations
• Earn 1 Membership Rewards point per dollar spent on all other purchases excluding utilities, insurance (except those issued by American Express), telecommunication providers and government bodies in Australia where you earn 0.5 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent

• Book any travel and pay with your points instantly online at Webjet

  • Paying first year annual fee isn't very Ozbargain.

    • depends on how you value the points. Thinking along the lines it's 2/3 of the way to getting a business class flight to much of asia on singapore airlines it's not a bad deal.

i wonde rif you could combine it with a referal code??

You can at times get the first year for free, last ended early July.

    • then this is a dupe as the other deal has been modified and is still going.

      • Not sure whether this would be considered a dupe, as it's a larger bonus points offering through a targetted link (but not an individual's referral link) - rather the previous deal is superseded.

    • Yeah, that was a good deal when the first year was free, but I missed out.

      • Is it worth still getting this deal? 20,000 more points but no free year.

  • +2

30,000 AMEX Rewards points converts to 30,000 Krisflyer points, plus should then be very easy to pick up another couple of thousand points with the card minimum spend (especially if you spend through categories that get you 3 x points per dollar).

My top pick of redemption options would be to redeem 31,875 (plus $34 SGD taxes) KrisFlyer miles for one way Singapore - Hong Kong first class on the A380 Suites.

  • what does 30,000 points get in terms of gift card equivalent?

edit: seems 10,000 points is about $74 of gift cards.

    • -1

      30,000 = $150

      • Most $250 gift cards cost 32,500 points,
another option is credit back on your card:

        1000 points = $7 credit
        so 30000 points = $210

You can also use the links from this referral wiki page: link to get additional points for both the referrer and referee.

    • There are no additional (or even equal) points on offer when applying with a referral for this card. Applying with a referral link only gets you 15,000 points. Whereas if you apply direct with the link in this deal, you get 30,000 points.

      • How many does the referrer get?
