The 378 one looks to have a second controller too, wouldn't that be better value with two games for only 20 more?

Also any word on the reliability of the 500GB PS4's?, are these the new Models or the old ones? I've heard the old ones are pretty trrible.

    Thanks.

Also what would Dishonered and Fallout 4 be worth if I were to sell them?

    • You are right, the $378 does appear to include 2 controllers. Can not really comment on the reliability, but the one which I own has had no issues.

      • I would also like some credit for asking the question op! (joking) so happy with this deal.

    • +5

I've always been a PlayStation fan, but having owned 3 of the 500gb ones in the past I've had nothing but problems constantly freezing and reseting.

I now own an Xbox and don't think I will go back for a while. I also had small issue with the Xbox making a buzzing sound but got it fixed and havent had an issue since. Also xbox has 3 years warranty compared to Sony's 1.

      • +4

Why neg this guy? He's pretty accurate. I've had 3 mates who had ps4's give them issues which required replacement and I personally have had my day one xbox one console replaced and one xbox controller go (thumbsticks cracked inside the controller). Now I have the elite with the awesome elite controller and had no issues (so far). This generation is no different to the last where both the 360 and ps3 had issues. By and large, the stuff gets more reliable with revisions though. Also, xbox provides a 3 year warranty (although only 3 months on controllers and peripherals) and Sony provides 1 year.

        • Few idiots on here.

No reason to lie, just my experience. Mainly froze while playing assassins Creed for some reason.

Here's a list of main problems
          http://wccftech.com/top-5-reported-technical-playstation-4-i…

I only got resets n freezing. Also controller is pretty crap compared to ds3. I broke the top trigger button a couple of times and thumb sticks wear out fairly quick

      • Have owned a few ps products and haven't looked back. Bought the PS3 and ps4 on day of release. PS3 seized after 7 years and was replaced by a brand new unit. PS4 did the eject disc error within months of use and was replaced no questions asked. Been running strong ever since and it gets a fair bit of play time. The replaced ps3 is firing away on the spare TV with no issues.
My only neg for the ps4, if I can search for one, is that the controllers seem a little less robust than the ps3 counter parts, as the toggle sticks on all three of my controllers have a fair bit of wear and all three controllers had spring issues with the trigger buttons. Trigger buttons were an easy fix once googled, but I never had similar issues with ps3 controllers, despite many fifa and cod related rage quits.

        • +1

How did you manage to get a 7 year old PS3 RMA'd? Or do you mean you bought another unit?

        • @SevenSmurfs:
Got the blue light of death. Called up Sony. Initially they offered to replace my ps3 with a fee of $150ish with a reconditioned unit. Started quoting Australian consumer law. Mentioned I am a loyal Sony customer. Got put through a supervisor who said if I can provide proof of purchase they will replace the whole unit. Sent the receipt in and they replaced it with one of the slimline units they were selling at the time.

    • +4

Fairly certain these are the newer models, I got mine in the early days bundled with destiny and it's now ejecting discs randomly

      • Not the rubber foot under the eject button? That was the problem with mine. Hasn't happened since I removed it.

        • yeah thats been happening to me lately… will have to read up on removing the rubber foot

        • +2

@geoffs87: Same issue. I didn't remove mine, I just had to make sure the rubber was seated in the groove properly. Other option is to run it vertically or put feet on the front 2 corners so the rubber under the eject isn't touching the ground.

      • -1

When does this offer start please?

        • Thursday 21st

    • +1

Dishonoured can be bought new for $20, Fallout 4 is $28 new as well, both from EBGames. Trade and second hand values will be quite poor. Second controller would be better value.

    • +2

Can confirm it's the new model CUH-1202. Just bought 2 the other day.

      • How much is this bundle when not on specials?

        • I bought them at $349 each from Big W (from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/256343). Should have some left at Big W Rockdale but just call your local Big W and ask if there's any left.

        • @agito1993: Thanks. So it's a different option, different product possibly.

  • +3

Was about to post this myself, thanks for credit!

    • No worries! Thanks again for sharing.

    • You photo however tells us you should post a Nintendo deal.

      • Decent prices on the games but nothing really grabs my attention. Last 2ds bundle we sold none.

        • +1

But at least your clear body is ready.

        • +1

          @silverrat23:
          My body is always ready.

  • And i bought a Ps4 2 weeks ago, bugger… ;(

    • +4

Who cares, one thing you have to accept as being a member of OzBargain is that there's always going to be a better deal just around the corner.

    • +2

My PS4 got stolen two weeks ago (1 July)! The bastard(s) broke through a side window and stole $5k worth of other stuff too, including two controllers and the Fallout 4 game disc that was inside the console :(

      No joke.

This deal is a perfect replacement. Just my luck…?

      • +3

That is really unfortunate mate and sorry to hear it :(

  • Is this in store only? Or we can buy online as well?

    • +1

In store. Our website has its own specials.

  • Nice deal👍

  • best price for PS4 yet? Extra controller never comes cheap.

    • Pretty sure it is.

  • -5

I don't think that comes with 2 controllers if you read the accompanying text

    • +1

      $378 bundle? yes it does!

      • -6

Where does it say 2 controllers? I know 2 are pictured but it doesn't explicitly state 2

        • How many + do you see in the $378 bundle? If you see 3 + that means 4 item in the bundle. They are not allowed to sell 500gb console without a controller in it as 1 item.

        • +1

Not sure why you're being downvoted; it's a valid point. Though I guess it also doesn't state it's sold separately so it could be interpreted either way (there is however an asterisk there as tranqme mentioned..)

          EDIT: See @Sage's comment :)

        • +1

Unsure as to why you were given a negative vote, you are correct, it's doesn't say two controllers, but it does have an asterisk next to where it says '+ dual shock controller'.

        • +2

@rith: I don't care if I'm downvoted and am happy to admit it if I'm wrong. What makes this deal super awesome is the extra controller and it is not entirely clear it comes with it

        • +1

It says it in the text,

          PS4 500GB Console + Fallout 4 + Dishonored + Dual Shock Controller
          PS4 500GB Console + Dual Shock Controller

The consoles come with a controller, so the one mentioned is extra.
They don't list the included accessories, but the included controller is in the picture.

        • @Sage: That makes sense.

        • @Sage: Better safe than sorry. I know plenty of retailers (JB) that sell stock console SKU's and say they are selling "console + controller + headset", when all of this comes as default.

  • +1

Great price. Keep in mind that 500gb gets used up fast. I upgraded mine to a 1TB and it's already maxed out.

    • Interesting point this. With the xbox, you can plug in an external usb3 drive. What is the solution for extra storage for ps4?

People should bear in mind that no matter which console you go for, storage will become an issue sooner or later given that games can be upwards of 60Gig install.

      • +1

You can freely swap the internal drive.

        • I swapped my internal drive with a 2tb drive from the Seagate backup plus. So far used 1.5tb so getting close to it being maxed out :( no way to expand it further than that.

  • I just got a PS4 from JB a week and a half ago. Do you think they would be able to do a price guarantee or anything?

    • +1

Not sure. Worth a shot though!

  • +5

Great deal! Best deal so far for the PS4

  • Gosh! Why is it this price now.

  • How are big w with swapping games? Would they let me swap both games for U4?

    • +1

Very unlikely will they swap two old games worth $20 (each) retail for a current top ten game that they sell in store for $69

      • +1

Hmm,thanks. I'll see what they say. Happy to pay the difference.

    • We can't really swap games as it's by scanning all the pictured items that brings the price down. I've had managers substitute equally valued games before.

      • So once I'm at the store, there won't be a box with all the items and I need to actually pick up a console, an extra pad and Fallout and Dishonoured and take it all to registers? Or are they phisically bundled?
Never seen how it works and I'm going to be in a hurry in the morning, so it would be useful to know. Thanks!

        • The staff will collect all the items, but yes they are separate.

  • +2

    Best price available.

You don't need a second controller, you can trade it in at EB Games for $32 credit. (Value may vary)
The two games if you're not interested they trade for $35 at JB Hifi. ($18 at EB, which is less than they cost but with the controller it makes an even $50 which can be used on a $50 PSN card)
With the trade credit the console is essentially $311.

    • +5

Best off selling the extra controller on gumtree for $50 minimum, it will be bought up in a day

    • -5

Sell your controller to me then. I will pay $35 if BNIB.

  • +2

typical - I bought the $349 500GB console from them last week!

  • +1

ALSO 5% off with WISH GIFT CARD!

  • Thanks for the post, probably going to grab this :) any idea when the special ends? Need to order some gift cards from frequent flyers.

    • +1

Not 100% sure, but based on other Big W catalogues you can confidently say that it will be around for at least a couple of weeks. You should have enough time to use your gift cards if you order them now, given the Qantas Store indicates a shipping time of 2-10 business days.

      • Thanks :)

    • +1

I believe it is from 21st to 27th. Best to get in early as we tend to sell out.

  • -1

I am happy to pay $40 for the spare controller if you do not need one.

  • +1

Great deal, keep in mind even physical games have to be installed and you'll fill up fast. HDD can be easily upgraded without voiding the warranty though. 2tb drives are readily available and there are ways to go even higher (I put a 3tb in mine yesterday).

  • Just keep in mind the Neo is rumoured for this year for anyone who cares

    • I think the slight extra power in the 'neo/ps4k' will only really be useful for PSVR, as all games on PS4 HAVE to work on ALL PS4 models.

I'd imagine any differences for general gaming will be negligible.

Unless, of course, you're a 'hardcore gamer', that for some reason doesn't play games on PC :)

      • +1

We shall wait and see. I think it will make a decent amount of difference. I dont know if you have waited this long I would wait to hear more info before jumping in on something that will be outdated and cheaper in a couple of months. That is just me. Maybe its cause I dont play games on pc lol

    • +7

We all know this will wait not in a rush. I have huge backlog on PS3, 3DS, PSTV, PSP, Wii… if I stop full time work stay at home I still probably would not finish my games for a year. 8 hours a day 7 days a week

Over the years thanks to ozbargain made me collected games and got too much now and no time to play

  • -1

Deal starting on Thursday . No stock at any store. Be ready on Thursday morning

    • -3

      Nope deal starting Monday 18th.

      • Store rep told me on phone about Thursday. No idea to be honest

      • +1

I think you're mixed up- the catalogue is available for view on nkndsy but the specials start Thursday 21st.

      • @ MysteryMeat—————Nope. You are wrong. Check before replying. Deal will start on Thursday.

      • Thanks Rep

  • Ha ha ha Just bought 2 at Big W 2 days a go at 349 each and now this … Oh well

    • +2

Depending how this is packaged, you could just buy this and return the old (new) one

  • Hi, sorry if this is an obvious question but this is my first post on this site. Is the PS4 package available at the moment? Would I be able to buy it from Big W tomorrow (Saturday 16th July) ?

    Cheers

    • +1

You will need to read other comments my friend. Someone asked the same question as you.

    • +1

As above - specials start next Thursday 21st.

      • +1

Damn! Haha wanted to play this weekend. Cheers anyway mate!

  • +1

Whoa, it's like PS4 and Xbox One limbo. How low will they go…

  • Amazing deal if u don't have a ps4 yet. Don't wait any longer. This equates to $300 if u sell the controller and game

  • -3

I'm echoing the posts that I am willing to buy the 2nd controller off you if you don't want it. Happy to pay $40.

  • If I bought these all separately today on a 28deg card for example, do you think it would qualify for price match protection for when the sale starts on Thurs?

    • Don't think so. It's like how they won't accept claims if you buy and item and it goes in sale with an added bonus item… Even if you are getting both for less. Has to be exact item. I guess you could try but there is no guarantee.

  • +1

I love how people are offering $35 - $40 for a new controller when they sell for like $70. As someone said earlier if you do want to sell a controller put it up for at least $50 and you will sell it in no time

  • Good value on the 1TB PS4 bundle.

    • Agreed. With UC4 still hovering around $60-$70, it brings the difference down to $100 between 500GB and 1TB which looks about right.

  • If I call them a day prior, will they confirm if they have it in stock in the morning? I don't wanna go all the way to a Big W to find out they didn't stock any then rush to another to find out they're sold out :(

  • Is it possible to hide one before start of sale to beat the rush?

    • +3

How? They are all behind display cabinets or in the back area.

    • You can do it on the games

      • Games, yes. Consoles, no.

  • Deal starting on Thursday!
