    Have used the free birthday meal for the past 4 years at Subway & every time the staff member has given me a blank look as if they have no idea what I'm talking about when showing them the offer.

    Got the chicken teriyaki sub today, quite tasty.

    • Gotta love the lengths they sometimes go to, to try make it as hard as possible to redeem the bday meal. Or with all these arbitrary restrictions on what you have to get >=[

      They do the same to me at my local store. They are penny pinchers I think, always trying to upsell and make it a meal. When I hand them my phone they look quizzically at it and sometimes take it over to show another staff member. They have never actually said anything though. What can they do? If they say I can't use it, well they can toss the sub and lose a sale and a customer. They do make a good sub though, always fresh salads and plenty of it.

        why would they toss the sub? if they never made it
        and doubt you would buy anything other than getting the free meal.

        • Errr because they don't know I will redeem the offer until reaching the till, when the sub has already been made? And I am a regular customer of this Subway. They are still making their profits ven with this promo im sure.

          I was thinking of when ppl showed their phone first.

          I have also got one of those Bday subs for free
          and they also showed phone to another person (probably manager)
          and zoom in to look at the bigger print.

          I was concern they were gonna drop my phone.

  • so how do we claim free lunch on our birthdays when we sign up. Do they give you a membership card or anything that you can show in store?

    • You sign up before your birthday (one month) and should receive an email around the day of your birthday, and you have a few days to use the voucher that will appear in your account.

      • did you need to tick yes to any of the newsletter deals or whatnot to receive the email?

        • cant remember. It would be a good idea to subscribe, they do not send out too many emails, and when they do its normally worth reading.

  • Today activated this voucher and went to 60 Pitt street store.

    First,when she try to take my order,she asked me if i am using a voucher then I said Yes, and she said Premium sub is excluded(I can not see this in the T&C) then i said on well,after that I picked a non Premium sub.

    She then said BOGOF is finished last week and said they will not honor it, instead she said she can offer me a free upgrade, this is a totally BS, this deal start this week how can it be finished last week?

    I just told them that is fine and I will talk to their headquarter and walked off.

    Messaged subway on facebook, hope I will get a good response why they are not honoring it.

    • Nope, but that is unacceptable. HQ should sort it out. You should have tried ringing HQ in the store and putting them on loudspeaker haha

      • Have sent private message to Subway on Facebook, if it is not resolved will go publicly on their page.

        They offer me a new voucher and I said this is not the underlying problem, I need them to talk with the store and let me know why they refused.

    • Its suprising after the sub club has been operating for so long that many staff are not upto date with sub club and the promos. I have heard this happening a few times before and Reggie74 in this thread also talks about staff not knowing about the promos.

    • went to subway today.. They said premium sub excluded.. and I was about to call their bluff but then i was hungry and didnt felt like arguing so i went with their meatball.. gave me a surprise their meatball subs are now $7.95 .. wont be going to subway anytime soon..

      • Today I went again as they have re credit me a voucher and this time different shop is ok and I ordered a Premium sub and I show them my phone when I am about to pay not being asked at the beginning.
