I don't get it. I've read the description and looked at the webpage and I'm still not sure what's happening.

  • Hmmmmmm…..

Alright I'll break it down for you.

Basically it's a budget all-in-one VR headset. A traditional VR headset like Google cardboard requires a phone while this has the guts of a phone already inside it.

It's running Android with a 5.5" screen inside and is controllable with the buttons on the side. You can download apps, games, watch movies etc all from the headset. There are ports for headphones, USB flash drives and micro SD cards.

Tl;dr VR headset built around a 5.5" tablet.

Here is a VR headset for $2.92AUD shipped

    • Refer to my comment

A standard VR headset requires a phone while this already has a device in it. Think of it as a much cheaper version of an Oculus Rift with computer inside it.

      • but the price in the title doesn't match ANYTHING on the website

        • That's because of an Ozbargain rule requiring an AU price in the title.

It'll take $10, $20 or $30 US off $129.99 US. Convert into AU and you've got the prices in the title.

        • @Clear:

          The title is still ridiculous.

          Mine came to $167.90 AUD

        • +2

@snoo: The final AU price depends on your payment method.

PayPal will take their cut if you use their exchange rate.

Using a CC like 28 Degrees set to use its own rate in PayPal will give you a price closer to the exchange rate.

  • What is the field of view?

    • Link mentioned 100 degrees FOV.

      • Thanks, missed that.

  • So I won "the chance of $30 Coupon to get the V3 All In One VR"?

Would be great is something like this supported hdmi intput so you could emulate the vive/occulus for steam games. The android driver / kernel level support for this functionality is quite poor, however.

You can kinda sorta get around this using some of those wifi streaming and things like nvidia game stream - using a standard cardboard viewer and software like Trinus VR.

So 3D TV didn't take off for several reasons but one major one was that people didn't want to wear comparatively lightweight glasses to watch TV. The industry has decided the solution and the next big thing is to stick the whole TV unit on your head. What could go wrong? Yes I understand this is more about gaming and emersion but anything bulky and uncomfortable for a viewing activity like this is going to have a limited market. I hope I'm wrong and VR takes off but I seriously can't see it happening.

    • Agreed. Can see it taking off for gaming though (as you mention), especially the PlayStation unit when its released. This tech when done well is pretty mind-blowing. 3D was never anything special and aside from looking more high-tech was pretty much the same experience as the first two times they tried it in the 50s and 80s.

    • I see your point, but the crux of the matter is that you need an image for each eye to give the impression of depth. 3D on traditional tvs suffers a few drawbacks, mainly that it looks like it should work without the polarizing glasses, but basically can't. Also, 3D just didn't add enough to the traditional view-only mode. Gaming and VR, on the other hand, is immersive and interactive, which greatly enhances the benefit of 3D. Once you play a 3D game, you'll understand

  • They can also mimic a big screen TV without needing the space for one ☺

Honestly, that's why is but something like this. It's why I briefly considered buying an S7.

Better for gaming of course but it's another use.

  • Took the plunge and bought it for US$101.98 including insurance. Wish me luck.

    • Good luck! Would've bought one if had enough for it.

Please let us know how it goes :)

    • wish u luck? ..
