      According to the manual (i just opened one up - NICE quality BTW) movies is 3-4 hours and audio 8-10 hours in-between charges.

      Similar maybe - but not the same!

      (a) these are local
      (b) have local warranty
      (c) are from a local compnay that OEM'd these for a major chain.

    Hi guys,

    This seems to be the PURE MP4 player previously sold at ALDI. Supposely this is the legitimate rebadged version of the Rams RM970 -> Please note: This MP4 is very reliable with a firmware update (Pentagram Firmware - Please see www.mp4nation.com and head for the Ramos section. The user "Orange" has done alot of developement with this firmware)

    Pro's:
    -Good Battery life
    -Plays "most" (depending on quality of encoding) of the avi files you download from the net
    -Strong battery life
    -Beautiful display
    -hot swap micro sd

    Con's:
    -right angle to see the screen
    -needs abit of work to update the firmware
    -non-touchscreen
    -buttons are incredibly tiny

    Overall, this hardware is extremely outdated but it is essence it is a very reliable MP4 player.

        I think lantol mean "maderin1" who writes a lot about customization and has an orange as their avatar.

    Really silly question here. Could I use this in lieu of an 8GB usb flash drive?

    Would there be any noticeable downsides? Seems kinda cheap for an 8GB flash drive that can play video

    no problem, but keep in mind mp3/mp4 players may have slower usb transfer speeds, will work fine otherwise
    it's an ok price for local/retail, i bought one for ~$58 a year ago on fleabay, and then ended up bidding on similar unit but with 4.3" lcd with tv out for $36!
