It's Jetstar's 6th Birthday sale, and to celebrate we are having a Take a Friend For FREE sale! For every full paying passenger who books one of these special sale fares, one passenger flies FREE! Bookings are subject to sale fare availability and are for travel in selected travel periods in 2010 and 2011. A limit of 10 passengers per booking applies. Available sale fares are identified by a 'Friend 4 Free' sash. When searching for sale fares, include the total number of passengers for the booking, including those passengers flying for free through this sale.

These sale fares are JetSaver Light fares with carry on baggage only. However JetSaver fares with 20kg checked baggage allowance are also on sale and can be booked for $10 more per passenger per sector on domestic flights and $20 more per passenger per sector on International flights. These sale fares must be booked for travel on the same flight. Sale fares are one way and web only. Flights are for travel on selected days, not available on all flights or days. See below for details. Limited availability on public holiday weekends.

Sale is on now until midnight (23:59 AEST) Thursday 6th May 2010, unless sold out prior. Sale may be extended.

      You don't even make any sense? This is effectively half price for most people and consistently one of the cheapest sales Jetstar hold every year!

  • I don't recommend paying with "POLi". It's a buggy arsed piece of crap.

    We paid using that, the transfer went through from the bank, and never received confirmation. Now stuck on hold trying to get it all cleared up.

    Bloody useless computer programmers (I say this as a computer programmer…)

    • LOL, exactly the same thing just happened to me. On hold too :(

      • Reentered the details and the specific seats we selected last time are now listed as taken, so their system thinks our booking half-done still. But it's lost somewhere in their crap-arsed booking servers.

        And all this could have been avoided if I wasn't such a cheaparse and paid the $20 to pay by Visa. sigh

        • Maybe it's just the email notifications that aren't being sent. I might hang up and try again in the morning if I haven't received anything.

          • @modsec802: Can't find our itinerary in the "My Booking" tab though, which doesn't look hopeful, plus the Confirmation page was never displayed so it's a bit iffy.

            I'm kinda expecting to be on hold for another hour now :P

                You reckon they designed it for IE?

                Our contractors sub-contracted our web design work out to India without telling us, the stuff we got back was of extremely questionable quality and only half functioning. Wouldn't be surprised if something similar happened with Jetstar. We'll never, ever willingly outsource to India now. Quality control is nonexistent in the subcontinent.

                  • @modsec802: After reentering the details AGAIN, the seats we previously selected are no longer listed as reserved. I take this as a sign the first booking didn't go through, so I made another booking and then selected "Direct Payment" (which gives 2 days to make the payment).

                    I'll call them tomorrow and ask them to link the previous payment I made to this booking instead. If they can't do that I'll cancel the first payment with my bank and then pay again…

                    If the first booking does go through then I'll just not pay for the second one.

                    Grrr.

                    • @iaijutsu: They appear to have run out of phone lines. It won't even ring put you through to the automated answering system when you call their line 131538. God forbid you should have a problem (like us above, using POLi with Firefox).

                      I'm going to vote negative on this as a caveat/warning to others so that they hopefully come in and see the neg comment and see the warning about their payment problems and the shut-down of their answering service. Buyer beware.

    • Finally got through after ringing all day.

      Operator was able to reinstate the original booking for which the payment was going to - after a day of stress, unsucessful calls and an abysmal switchboard, I have to admit to being somewhat surprised that the operator actually did their job well. Well done staff rep.

      If you haven't gotten through, keep trying!

  • No Adelaide / Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh :(

    • There never has been Adelaide / Melbourne to HCMC.

      Its either Darwin to HCMC or Syd to HCMC via Darwin.

      Cheapest way there from Adelaide is Jetstar to Darwin, stay overnight in darwin, then darwin to HCMC. Or if you want it to be same day get qantas from adelaide to darwin, but it will cost substantially more.

  • Sydney to Osaka RETURN $1057 for two people! Bargain! I know it says some of the internation fares are one way only but do return and you should be a similar bargain price.

  • Hoping laneway festival is at the same time next year as it was this year, if so I got return tickets to Adelaide from Syd for $198! (for 2)

    As stupid as it sounds it is still cheaper to price-match with Tiger on alot of routes and have better availability!

    For routes like MEL-HBA/LST/OOL, ADL-SYD/BNE/OOL, SYD-OOL

    • Great idea, but I always get scared with Tiger's last minute cancellation

  • Decent looking deals, however 2 major issues:

    1. When I try book online, the system won't recognise my vouchers to be used as payment.
    2. When I try to call I'm unable to even get in a queue and be put on hold (tried both last night and this morning.

    • After finally getting through and on hold for 30 minutes, spoke to a customer service rep who tried to book my flights. She asked if she could put me on hold - another 20 minutes on hold and then the line hangs up. Absolute joke.

    • Yes, me. Does that mean they don't want you to pay via direct deposit or that the email is coming…….

  • I love it when you get to the last screen and it is processing your credit card and then it says 'An Error has occurred, please start again'…

    • It's even worse when you've already transferred a thousand dollars to them before receiving that error. And then they won't answer their phones.

      • Dude that sucks! I think the least they could do is maybe the next time they have a sale, not go so 'Low-Cost' on their servers for their website and their phone service.

    Got Syd to NZ for 400 return for 2 people! That is amazing… Sure the system is heaps, heaps, heaps crap, but 400 for return for 2 people is awesome!

    Just want to add…. I'm trying to book for 2 adults and 2 children

    But when I select 1 adult and 1 child I see no sale fares

    But see sale fares when I select only 1 adult???

    Anyone know how I can get around this?

    • Enter 2 adults and 2 kids, I booked 2 adults and 2 children and worked, there is no price difference for children with jetstar.

  • Even if I select 2 adults, no sale fares come up on these dates 30/10 - 27/11 but when you only select 1 adult it shows up.

    • That has happened to me before. So i went in, had a look at the flight and it was practically empty. Theres something suss with Jetstar.

      • Having the same problem, cant get the BOGOF sale price when trying to input 2 adults….but the sale shows up when only putting 1 adult in…WTF… When I book for 2 adult I can only get the standard "non bogof" price. I have tried with multiple flights to different countries on different dates. To those who got it to work…please explain how you did it….PLEASE?
