  • Not too bad if you need to buy something large and they have a good online price, however If you are in the market for something that large like a laptop or TV, you could probably haggle for up to 10% if you were to buy in-store.

    • +1

If I was to buy something big I would seek more than 10% discount in store. Apple is an exemption.

Btw I hate jb's illegal price adjustments before their "sales". I hope they get what they deserve.

      • Yea thinking of revoking my positive. This deal you have to pay with paypal(which i prefer but others may not), pay for delivery, and u probably could get more than 10% by haggling in store, and it's a cashback instead of a straight out discount.

This is good for Apple products and for people who aren't good at haggling.

      • Yes, JB HiFi is known for increasing their prices before their "SALES". An example is the John Mayer Blu-ray which was $19.99 at JB HiFi Doncaster before the recent sale and now $36.99. Jb you have have done it again. Where is the ACCC tiger?

        • So you're wheeling out the same tired old example again. What's your agenda here? This is pure OzBargain conspiracy talk. People love to think that there’s some sort of covert campaign by retailers like JB to jack prices up just prior to discounting them. I can tell you that this is utter BS and if they did, they’d be cut to ribbons by the ACCC. They are red hot on this. There will always be examples of prices rising and falling around new campaigns and to focus on a few rises is plain misleading. For every random example you find, there are hundreds of legitimate price drops.

          • @m00npatrol: it's not a crime if you don't get cought. I confirm what johnd320 said. The blu-rays prices I was following all got bumped up just before their 20% off "deal".

The problem is everybody whinges (including me) but nobody puts an offical complaint in.

            • @Sharp: "Blu-Ray prices you were following" - there's your answer. Biased sample group. Try taking a snapshot of every item next time and see what you find. The problem is people like you who whinge on forums like this but never bother taking it further. I'd encourage you to. Then you'd see ACCC's response to these sorts of accusations.

              • @m00npatrol: I saw the John Mayer Blu Ray at my local JB for $19.99 yesterday when picking up Avatar. Maybe they sold the $19.99 one, and the new stock has an up-to-date price? The prices DO vary between stores for the same items even though they'd tell you otherwise. On the same day I saw the same Blu Ray for $16.99 at one store and $31.99 at another.

But I agree the prices do jump, go into JB the day before one of their % off sales and the prices will be slashed, the next day when the 10% or whatever applies, the prices jump up and are no longer slashed. Theyjust remove the piece of paper stuck on covering the old price. I saw it happen when I was laptop shopping.

          • @m00npatrol: M00npatrol, the juries verdict is in. JB HiFi found guilty of jacking up prices prior to the "Smashing of prices". M00npatrol do you work for JB Hi Fi? You certainly sound like a JB HiFi staff member. "Cut to ribbons by the ACCC" - you have to be joking. The ACCC, a tiger I think not. M00patrol trots out the same old tired lines - "They are red hot on this". Spin, Spin, Spin. If you follow M00npatrol's diatribe anyone who provides evidence of JB HiFi jacking up prices prior to a % off sale is just spreading conspiracy talk. I want to ensure that fellow bargain hunters don't get sucked into "Cloud discounts". Enought deceptive conduct!

            • @johnd320: why would a staff member care JB's illegal activities? m00npatrol should be a share holder :D

m00npatrol there are soooo many posts confirming this on forums e.g. dtvforum. if you genuinely think jb is fair with their deals you need to do some reading. (and/or sell your shares :D)

              • @Sharp: Wow I didn't realise that posts on internet forums passed for FACTS these days. If a nationwide company is so blatantly involved in illegal activites that any gumby on an internet forum can uncover it do you not think the ACCC would be able to as well???

                • @d5t: Dear jb hifi share holder. Whether the ACCC decide to investigate jb hifi has less to do with whether jb hifi has engaged in misleading and deceptive conduct. But rather whether the ACCC see jb hifi as a big enough priority. The more people that complain, the more likely it will become a priority. Likewise, if the investigative journalists at Today Tonight or A Current Affair deem it to be a news worthy topic, then the activities of jb hifi will more likely be examined by the ACCC. It's all a matter of priorities.

                  • @johnd320: "… investigative journalists at Today Tonight or A Current Affair" … Sorry John, any shred of credibility you had just went out the window. Those TV shows are gutter journalism at its worst. Stop for a minute and consider the massive volume of sales JB gets and then divide by the number of whining people there are like yourself on specialised forums like this claiming conspiracies. Far from being the norm, it's a drop in the ocean I'm afraid.

I'm relieved that you've accused me of being someone who works - or has worked - at JB Hifi. So I can tell you therefore, CATEGORICALLY, that your theories are 100% garbage.

I also note that JB Hifi has just finished number ONE for corporate reputation in the recent AMR national survey. Feel free to Google it.

                    • @m00npatrol: Dear JB hifi shareholder. What do you mean? Current Affair and Today Tonight have the cream of investigative journalists. M00npatrol you are exhibiting the characteristics of a pseudo intellectual. Look that up in google. Please no more tired old cliches. M00npatrol please go to a forum where your insights are appreciated. Troll no more.

  • That bring The Complete box set of The Wire down to $80.10 or $16.00 a season Bargain! :)

no gift cards :( YOu could buy gift cards last time. I guessed they learnt their lesson

    • Yeah I was thinking the same thing. :)

    • They must have worked out that it was possible to negotiate a deal instore and then get a further 10% off that by paying with a giftcard. Honestly, I don't think we'll ever see that deal again.

  • Looks like all electornics retailers are under pressure to meet the sales targets. We may see a price war and undercutting between them in June Stock take.

hmmm whats the point when we pay freight

    • The point is, if you're an online shopper used to paying freight, you're getting 10% cashback. On top of all sale pricing. Consider people who don't live near a JB store for example. Moreover, if you spend over $75 and pay with PayPal, you get free shipping too.

  • No gift cards like last time :(

  • Can't see much bargain here.

  • Look for LG 42PJ350 42" HD Plasma TV at $796.00. Anyone know how to use the Freight free code & the 10% off at the same time. Any successful experience?
