          @stuffedcrust:

The Broden behaviour isn't promoted in this community my friend.

LOL that's gold so according to you only one item per OzBargainer!

How many more people would have benefited from this deal if he hadn't bought a trolley full?

How many people on OzBargain would have benefited if he didn't post this deal? Zero.

The point of this community is for as many people as possible to snag deals for their own personal use. Not to take advantage of cheap deals to make a buck and ensure other ozbargainers miss out.

Blah blah blah…. You can say it as many times as you like but your fantasy is never going to happen. Maybe you should create OzShareItAround to promote your utopia.

        • @Maverick-au:

Hes clearly bought more then one persons fair share dude. Im sure if you were half interested in a deal and someone brodened the crap out of it only to resell at 4 times the price you'd be a bit pissed off.

        • @stuffedcrust:

What is a fair share? Who cares if he purchased them to make a profit on because plenty of people do this every single day and yet there are plenty of bargains around still. He didn't buy all the stock and he took the time to find out where stock is and he posted the deal so that some people can also benefit.

I would like to buy some but there are none near me, am I going to cry about it and carry on about "fair shares"? Nope. You sound like the spoilt kid that cried every time he didn't get his way or what he wanted, I guess some people never mature and grow out of that behaviour.

Did you even consider now that many people can benefit from them at $80 instead of paying $195? Take a look at his costs of postage, time to collect, ebay and paypal fees, warranty and so forth and he's not making as much money as you are trying to make out. The fact is that most Bunnings stores don't have these and many people do not live near one so this way plenty of people get to "benefit".

People like you stop people from posting deals, why would they bother if they are going to be attacked. Just buy all the stock and to hell with sharing the information.

          @stuffedcrust:

How could they Broden the lot when I cleared two Bunnings stores today? Since everyone is having a good whinge… Get off your behind and go in store. I am sick of OzB'rs sitting on their backside calling every store to reserve stock and then complaining when the staff have better things to do and cannot be stuffed getting it.

        • @stuffedcrust:

Whilst you are having a good howl …

I should complain that I missed out on a free mug and free tickets to the food & wine show. Stop being such a cry baby and accept the reality that not every single post is going to benefit you. Yes I Broden (prefer Rorted) two stores one midday and one after 6pm tonight.

Perhaps if you get off your behind and actually visit stores you might actually benefit from the posts on this site.

As for those who love speed dialing stores to reserve stock; The staff have got better things to do than running around collecting clearance stock for cheapskates. This was/is the attitude of the staff I have encountered at both Bunnings (Crompton LED) and Masters (Eneloop) when it comes to online or phone reservations.

          @Mr Rort:

WTF are you talking about? I benefit from plenty of deals on this site and have no issues going in store, I'm confused as to how you came up with the assumption that I'm too lazy to go get a deal? The drugs you are on, care to share them around?

Keep arguing with yourself and cleaning out the deals bro, you're doing the OzB community a great service!

        • -1

          @Maverick-au:

A+ attitude. Lets hope more people get onboard with the OP, clear out stock and re-sell them to us for an inflated price.

    • +4

Why buy for $20, when you can get it delivered directly from @sr8rippinpro for $82!

      • +4

I think I should buy a few on ebay … rate negative and mention that they are 20$ at Bunnings :-).

        • None sold yet and is accepting offers

        • +1

@Elppa8: Yeah … hope it will be a hard and long sell. Cold white is not a nice light … there will be a reason why Bunnings could not sell them. At 20$ yep … but at 70$ … I rather would buy one from Aliexpress.

        • +1

@mini_wombat: well it appears OP is in the trade as some are being kept for stock. That eBay seller is also selling other multiple electrical items, so the taxman would no doubt see selling these at a profit as part of OP's business/income if OP and the eBay seller are one and the same.

        • +3

You must have more hatred than sense? If people want to profit good for them. Stop being so bitter! It is not like you are going to buy any from them!

        • +2

@Mr Rort: Ah I would not care about it at all … but bragging with a trolley full of lights is just not really great. Time is better spent producing and creating something or importing some goods which are not available on Australia.

(Hehe … and I am actually looking for 4 of these lights … just not in cold white … but at 20$ .. maybe…)

        • @mini_wombat:

Pfft… At one trolley load.. I purchased two trolley loads.

The point as I made in my previous post is that I Broden one load at midday and another at 6pm. IF people are not prepared to visit several stores early and miss out then tough. As for those making money on eBay good on them.

Are all the people complaining working for free? IT does actually cost time and petrol to track down bargains and people who are selling on eBay (in most cases) are still offering a bargain to those too lazy to hunt for themselves. How is $70 a rip off when another store is selling them for $199?

      • Looks like his ad is now gone. Sold out??

    • $1,000? I managed to snap up over $1,200 so I guess you come in second!

Are these intended to be security lights? If so, do they come with movement detectors?
What are people using these for apart from their tennis court or to blind the neighbours.

    • +1

I find that five is around the right amount to blind the neighbours so you can use their tennis court.

      It's a win-win situation.

(I have a couple of similar ones mounted in my garage/under the house)

    • Patio, lawn. 1500 lumens is like a normal room light, way too dim for a tennis court.

    • +1

Are these intended to be security lights?

If you like. They are lights - the end user determines what they use them for.

If so, do they come with movement detectors?

Only those ones that include movement detectors. The ones that don't include movement detectors do not include them.

What are people using these for apart from their tennis court or to blind the neighbours

      Exterior floodlights.

It's only 20W LED, 1600 Lumens (and unlikely to actually output that much). That's less than the light output of the traditional 120W PAR38 lamp used in that kind of situation. Most sensor halogens have TWO x 120W lamps in them, which is about 3 times the amount of light of this.

      • I have tested the 20W and the output is fair. It is LED after all!

      • If you like.

Not really. They'd make pretty hopeless security lights without a sensor. Unless you want to leave them on all night.

They are lights - the end user determines what they use them for.

        So insightful.

Only those ones that include movement detectors. The ones that don't include movement detectors do not include them.

        Even more insightful.

This comment was actually somewhat helpful

Gee thanks. Next time I will try to remember not to bother typing an answer for you.

    • The units priced at $25 do come with movement detectors. I have visited three stores and only found them at one.

    Think of your neighbors OzBargainers.

David Thorne (quite a famous and often funny blogger on the interwebs – go to his website 27b/6 here) found himself having a bit of trouble with his new neighbours and the verocity of their floodlights.

    http://thechive.com/2012/05/17/dispute-over-the-placement-of…

    • Love his stuff - so funny!!

      • Someone who knowingly steals other's money is not funny.

        • You do realise it is all fake??

        • @placard: Read my comment below

        • @snook:

Yep I get it…it's a shame as I did find his stuff funny, but it does leave a sour taste in your mouth when you don't get what you paid for.

I'm in the same boat as you, bought the book and nothing arrived - I also gave up and had almost forgotten until your post…

    • +1

On the off chance that that post is actually real, that David Thorne seems like quite the douchebag. If the light was a bother, speak to your neighbour like a civilised human being. Don't trespass onto their property, take their stuff and then act like a sanctimonious prick.

      • +1

        David Thorne is a douche.

I bought his book some years ago and it was never delivered. $40+ Even though I had the paypal invoice, they said I never paid. Couldn't claim from paypal because i'd gone on holidays and the 40 day time period had elapsed.

Fair Trading said that because his business didn't have a street address in Australia there's nothing they can do. Happened to quite a few people.

        • Actually I'd forgotten about that - I loved his website, so bought his book - it never arrived!!

I emailed a few times and they never replied.

Should have done a charge back on the credit card…

    • Link is funny, but, NSFW.

    • Unlucky!
      is it any good?

      • yeah, it's quite bright…

    • +1

Damn Daniel! Why did you do that?

    • If you have the right credit card some of them have insurance in case the price of an item you purchased drops. If you bought it on the card.

  • +1

That is a great price for LED floodlight, usually they start at $80 up. The light colour is also good - 4100K is perfect where usually the cheap ones are 6000K that is a very white light.

Anyone seen any at this price in WA?

    • 4100K is perfect where usually the cheap ones are 6000K that is a very white light

For most people, 6000K is pretty much considered a "blue" light.

4100K is probably still a bit harsh for outdoor areas, as the inherently low light levels tend to make the illumination appear quite "grey" and washed out.

The human eye/mind is attuned to expecting low light levels to be warm, like firelight and candlelight - these look quite normal even at tiny lux levels. When you see view cold colour temperature light at low levels, it just looks "wrong" but the reason is not apparent to "non-lighting people".

  • There are about 30 at bayswater

    • I'm guessing you mean Bayswater, Vic, sadly.

In Morley WA, I found a 2x10W LED PAR with security sensor for $20. Not bad.

  • Just got 2 at Scoresby, - around 15 left.

    • There are none at Hoppers Crossing VIC, Altona VIC and Mentone VIC.

      • Didn't see any at Sunbury.

        • Broden Seller mentions Pickup in Sunbury, My guess theres no stock left at any of the stores surrounding that area.

Why can't anyone post a direct link to the lights on the Bunnings Website?

    • Because this product isn't on their website

    • +4

Why can't you read previous posts?

  • Serious question, would you be annoyed by this if your neighbor had one projecting onto their backyard? Not sure how powerful this is and I don't want bad vibes from the neighbors.

    • Just aim it down?

      • I would like to illuminate my entire yard so it kind of negates the purpose.

        • As long as it's not constantly on then I think it should be fine.

    • Do my neighbors get angry when i test 5000 lumen torches in my backyard? probably but just try not to shine it in there windows that might help!

    • +4

My neighbor has installed incredibly bright LED floodlights. With no regard to the aim or angle of the beam these do a ridiculously good job of lighting the exterior of my home, my front stair which can no longer be descended safely because you are blinded by the glare of a flood light right in your eyes and illuminating the main bedroom. You can actually read a book at night in bed with the blinds down.

This neighbor has built a fortress like home and is paranoid about security and privacy and hasn't spoken to my family since construction completed. That's fine until your paranoia extends to impinging on others.

There are laws and guidelines to Light Pollution in the state of NSW, but the best place to start is :
      1) Being considerate of others
      2) Talking to your neighbors

Since my neighbor actively avoids me and my family I might end up with
      3) The EPA

The ACT government has a good FAQ on the matter http://www.environment.act.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/575026/Residential_-Light_pollution-_Jan2014.pdf

I'm in NSW and haven't yet found an equivalent guide

      • Bad link, sorry, don't know how to fix it.

Was the first non sponsored link I got from Google

        https://www.google.com.au/search?q=light+pollution+laws+nsw&…

      • +1

I'm in NSW and haven't yet found an equivalent guide

The local council is who administers rules on light pollution / trespass.

Just complain to your local council, they can actually DO something about it.

        Otherwise, buy a slingshot.

        • They can, but will they is more the question you should be asking

        • @WT:

They will because they HAVE to. That's why you get a copy of their rules and regulations, and then force them to act upon it.

      • +1

        Why not install mirrors?

    • +2

Serious question, would you be annoyed by this if your neighbor had one projecting onto their backyard? Not sure how powerful this is and I don't want bad vibes from the neighbors.

These are PRECISELY the kind of floodlight that will drive your neighbours mental with glare. They have no "cut-off", or hood that prevents the illumination passing over the fence.

The technical description for the (lack of) optics is that they are "blurter" - which means that the peak intensity is on the centreline, and the light either side is equally distributed.

In order to reach your farthest corner and fence, you need to have the centreline of the lamp pointed there.
      - that means that HALF of the light will go up and over the fence.

If you want to control glare and spill light, you need a "full cutoff" type lamp. For your application, they look like a shovel with a hood over the top. They contain optics that force the wasted upward light down into your own yard.

You know if it's suitable because it'll have a very noticeable full shadow above a certain vertical angle.

THIS SHAPE and not THAT SHAPE

    • IF your neighbours cannot afford blinds or shutters … Tough! They should be thanking you for the free light.

  • Any in NSW?
