Westinghouse 624L Refrigerator WSE6630SA $899 (RRP $2,099) in-Store Only (Call to Negotiate Delivery) @ The Good Guys

1610

$899 at time of writing on the GG website, but I got it down to $846 over the live chat. $85 delivery for ~metro delivery and installation.

Despite the "You can only buy this in store. Call 1300 942 765 or ask for model WSE6630SA in store." notice (for me), live chat allowed me to buy online and organise delivery. The only downside is that the (current) 8% CashRewards CB apparently is ineligible for the special order process (worth a shot anyway)

Stacks with 5% gift card promo (Ultimate Everything) -> $803.70 + delivery

43% lower than the last time a deal for this model was posted, and 60% lower than the RRP if you do well.

Available for the same nominal $899 price at Harvey Norman, not sure if they haggle further too.

A model including a (non-plumbed) water dispenser is also available for $90 or $100 more (displays as $999 nominally, auto price beats to $989, not sure if anything beyond that): Good Guys.

There are also a variety of other Black Friday fridge deals at GG, HN, JB, but none close to this IMO.

I think the rrp is not right. It says save $600 by Harvey Norman

    Was $985 last year

Jesus, if I hadn’t just spent everything on everything I’d hire a van and go for a drive for that

    • +1

how much is delivery? Surely less than hiring a van… I live two storeys up in apartments with no lifts so i almost always pay for delivery. My days of breaking my back have come and gone.

      • +2

They won’t deliver to me - regional VIC

        • +3

Ahhh, fair shout. Apologies for my ignorance, I didn't think about that.

          • +4

@kiriakoz: All good - to be fair, I didn’t think about it when I moved here aha

        • +1

Whats regional living compared to city living?

          • +1

@ATTS: It can peaceful when you’re not dealing with drug addicts, drunks, domestic abusers, animal abusers or people who are a combination of those

I like going into Melbourne for a day thing or night event, especially staying in a hotel and going to one of my favourite restaurants, but I couldn’t live there full time

            • @linkindan: Thanks, oh so those types in regional aswell

        • Ouch. I had GG Commercial this fridge to me a couple years ago in East Gippsland.

But I also use to have Amazon deliver to me and now they don’t 😞

          • +1

            @tomsco: Yay East Gippsland! aha
Interesting that GG Commercial deliver out here, I’ll have to look into that

Amazon gives me the shits so much. Cereal, popcorn kernels, spices, and so on, all gone - popcorn alone is ~27% more expensive at Colesworth than Amazon who won’t deliver it here now, but they invited me to Vine and send me everything (even if it’s listing says “not available for your current address”)

            • @linkindan: Yeah, it’s frustrating. I don’t expect next day delivery, but just any delivery would be nice.

Luckily I head to Melbourne 2 days a month so just get stuff delivered to office, but I feel I shouldn’t be rewarding them.

$59 for delivery only, $85 unboxed, plugged in with box takeaway and removal of old unit if needed

    • Price match with Appliance Online.

They will deliver FREE to regional VIC (Gippsland).

      • Since when?! Every time I’ve put my address in they’ve said it’s not available for delivery - no matter the size of the item I’m looking at

        • Last time I had free delivery was about 2 months ago.

Can't guarantee your address, but it was delivered to a regional town

    I've seen a $2100 fridge and this ain't it.

  • +5

Bought this for $1400 ish 2 years back, good fridge, doesn’t have anything fancy like cold water pipe etc and that’s one feature I didn’t want as I do t want to deal with cleaning it, or it breaking down etc .

    • +1

Why drink mouldy water. Require regular cleaning its stupid

  • +5

RRP$2099 is the inflated RRP Appliances Online uses. The real full price is $1699 at most stores.

  • +2

wow, that is a great price, although I am wary of Westinghouse fridges as they can be a bit temperamental with the temp (I have the french door one now and had the a previous model of this size that I purchased about 20 years ago….similar issues. I have to have the temp almost to zero in fridge to get normal temperature in it. I bought two thermometers to keep track of the temp in two different areas, so I know what the top and bottom temps are for each, but sometimes it ends up freezing in the fruit and veg draws….but only occasionally, so work that out, the rest of the time it is fine) I only got another Westinghouse, as it fit in the spot and had the best fridge space, but not quite enough freezer, so had to get a small chest freezer to make up for it…this newer 2 door was just a fraction taller than the old model as were most of the other 2 door fridges…so they wouldn't fit.
I think I will be looking at black friday deals in the year we are going to redo the kitchen

Brand means nothing you need to know what parts they use. They mostly come from China.

      • Same as iPhones (crap;)

      • +3

What’s not come from China these days 🤣

      • Westinghouse are now owned by the Electrolux Group. I'd rather deal with a Chinese manufacturer than with this lot again.

        https://www.electrolux.com.au/support/warranty/

They claim "Electrolux Home Products fully assures all customers that our goods come with statutory guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law" but in reality when you get a lemon and cite ACL they will tell you their "warranty is only for 2 years".

While under manufacturer warranty all their technicians will ever do is change the temp sensor which is the cheapest part to replace. Simply defrosting achieves the same effect of the fridge working again for another 6 to 12 months.

I suspect they have a problem with their control board which is much more costly to replace, ie the sensor costs them under 10c, the PCB is a few hundred. it's either a qc issue or the thai climate isn't good for electronics. From reading online complaints the problems and symptoms concerning their fridges are very consistent going back to the early 2010's.

        It's just dodge:

Reviews are not that great for this one.

  • Sell-off? Westinghouse owes Nikola Tesla $Quadrillions ;)

  • +4

    I wouldn't buy Westinghouse again

  • You can also get it for $899 from Good Guys Commercial with $59 delivery for me

  • I love my Westinghouse. I have a similar size one and never had issues with it. I was kind of particular with how the lights are positioned and mine had most of them sides towards the front so everything was lit up nicely. The other ones were located too centred so it was dim form the front. Not sure if that layout is the same as this one.

  • +1

bought this fridge a while back. Highly recommended and easy to split sections in a share house.

  • What country are these made in? Who owns Westinghouse?

    • Electrolux

    • Swedish appliance multinational Electrolux (that collects bankrupt Co's;): AEG, Frigidaire, Molteni, Westinghouse, Zanussi, Chef…
They should buy Apple (1-trick-dog Co ;)

    • +1

      Most likely Thailand

      • We got ours delivered on Saturday. Manufactured in China.

  • How do I use the gift card for the special order purchase?

    • The rep will send you a payment link, on which you can use any usual payment method. The Ultimate GCs are used as per instructions, using the credit card number they give you

  • Good price. I bought this delivered 4 months ago for about $1150.

And its a good fridge if width works for you.

    • Haha, it's 11 mm wider than I can fit in.

  • Anyone knows how this compare to the Hisense Costco is currently selling?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/876941

    • The hisense is more energy efficient but OOS at Costco at least for me. The energy savings amount to around $18/year, so not worth it anyway

Make sure you buy extended warranty. About 3 months ago my Westinghouse side-by-side fridge kicked the bucket, it wasnt even 18 months old. Electrolux repaired it under warranty but it took them 2 weeks for a technician to come out & repair it. It failed again 2 weeks later so I had to organise another service call. 2 weeks later when the technician was due to come out they sent me a message on the morning of the service call advising they needed to reschedule the service call and the next appointment available was 2 weeks from then. Thankfully Retravision said they would give me a refund and I bought a different brand. I'll never ever get a westinghouse fridge again. As good as this price is, if your budget allows it go with a better brand, you dont want to have to repair or replace at your own cost in 2 years after your warranty expires.

    • +1

How would extended warranty solve any of your issues? My westinghouse fridge had to be replaced under warranty too after 3 visits from the tech in 2 years, and it still has some weird gremlins. I will not be buying that brand again.

    • Extended warranties are a total rort, you're entitled to a free repair under the ACL.

  • Anyone has good luck removing doors on such fridges ??

For narrow doors ?of 720mm (consider 700 mm with small 10 mm gap on both sides plus door gap)?

Or have to bloody make it go through the window? Laying down horizontally?

    • Easier to take the house door off imo. That's my plan

      • No it's not the way because door is only 720mm wide

So it won't fit even with taking kitchen door off.
        See item width

        Need fridge door removal

      • And insulation breach, and lower reliability, and losing fridge space..

        • and…make ice

  • Anyone got a price matched offer link tracked via cashrewards before? 👀

    • Do they charge delivery?

      • Yeah they added delivery charges. You can try using the retravision link below to see if they will do it without delivery.

      • AO did not charge for delivery for me when I quoted Retravision.

Just paid for 1 at Retravision with FREE delivery

    • +2

Thanks. Did the Retravision match at AO, which included "premium" delivery.

      • Isn't it only available to order for delivery in January at AO?

        Huh, must be location based

        • Yeah, it must be. NSW metro has immediate stock, or it did earlier anyway…

  • Awesome price, will keep it in mind. (Un)fortunately, my Hisense is still going strong.

  • My Samsung fridge (smaller) is going strong in its 9th year. I am tempted to upgrade to this one but selling an old fridge would be hard due to pick up etc.

  • +2

I have the older Australian (cheap) - made version of this fridge and it wasn't even at this rrp back then with Aussie labour rates. Think I bought my WSE6100SF for about $1300.

Its got some brilliantly interesting reviews after owners discover how the great workmanship and material quality has held up over years of use. Mine however has been very fortunate that it hasn't been smoking out black tar but its certainly not looking like the norm on the QC for Westinghouse…
    https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/westinghouse-wse61…

    • Black tar = made in Australia
Cracked lining = made in Thailand

These days, you would only buy Westinghouse because Electrolux has the best spare parts and service coverage in Australia

  • We went to have a look at it and we were a bit concerned about the flimsy looking pins for the shelves (which are quite thin to begin with). My wife now likes the Samsung SRS693NLS better, going for $1488. So a lot more cost for a slightly larger fridge but looks better and seems to be better built in the storage area. Although seems like there's bad reviews for both Samsung and Westinghouse….

    • +1

Honestly every modern fridge that's been out for a few years has bad reviews.

  • Hi, just bought it from Bing Lee, free delivery in 2 weeks. $899 plus cashback $24

  • Appliances online doing this for $881 includes delivery installation and removal of old fridge. Pretty good deal.

  • Received an email today that my delivery is due in March 🤣. This will be interesting…Not sure if I should wait or cancel.

    • Bad luck, it's a good fridge for the price so I'd keep the order if you can wait.

Ordered from Bing Lee with a upsized CB and arrived today. Very happy with it.

    • Hi @Wolfhound, I'm in need of a fridge. March would be perfect for me, let me know if you're wanting to sell and pass on the order to me? I'm in Melbourne.

      • Hey, apologies, we have decided to wait till march for the fridge lol. Good luck tho!

        • No worries thanks.
