very good price. was going to buy one this weekend from msy for $95. thanks!

Do yourself a favour and check out the G900… if your in the market and open to spending twice'ish the amount it is a mouse that I can hands down call the best mouse I have ever used (past mouses - g402, g502, mumba, deathadder, g9x). Having been a high level competitive FPS player I(recently) couldn't go past the g402 previously (bit lighter and less cluttered then the 502), but do yourself a favour and try it if possible!!

      • I actually had a g900 (Currently have this and a g402 Hyperion fury (one on my laptop), they're both very different mice. I'm not sure if I actually liked the g900 more than either of these personally, its more a shape thing than anything else and i guess it depends on ur hand size.

      • Just had a quick look and it does look really impressive. It also looks quite new so I doubt there will be anything close to a sale for the g900. May I know where you bought yours from?
My basic mouse just died and considering investing into either this or the g900 hmm

        • Purchased mine from Computer Alliance in Brisbane, was the only place in Queensland I could get my hands on one at the time (launch week) as I wasn't that excited and didn't pre order, if only I had of known! I would start with the g402 to be honest, its hard to explain why but to put it basically you won't appreciate the g900 as much (unless you really want the wireless!) without having come from an A grade gaming mouse already.

        • @giBzoR:

Ah yeah I get what you mean. Thanks for the recommendation for g402, how about the g502? Do you think that's an okay start as well?

        • +1

@pikatech: Not for the difference in price atm mate, I have mentioned but if your in the $100 region (you evidently don't have a budget) double the coin and get a g900 hands down. As were all bargain hunters here… at half the price of the g502 I wouldn't even consider it, get the g402 :) hope that helps.

        • @giBzoR:

It has indeed! thanks for your help :)

      • IMHO Logitech G5 was the best mouse I ever had, lasted 8 years and still going, though cable was getting frayed so I bought a G402… 6 months later with the G402 and the scroll wheel button no longer recognizes clicks…

Went back to G5 and just covered the frayed cable with some heat sink =/

    • Long time Logitech fan. Not a serious player, but need and appreciate a good mouse.
Got tired of wired mouse. Moved from G500s to Master MX. Bit heavy and complicated with not very good connection. Saw G900 released. Got one 3 days ago from JBHiFi. The best mouse I have tried so far.

besides the RGB, anything different from the 502 proteous core? which is like 61bux on staticice.

    • +5

      no, its just the rgb

      • +2

No real upgrade to the existing G502 (core) then. I'll keep with mine for now

    • +1

The core apparently had an issue with the teflon pads on the bottom coming loose, so much so that Logitech sent out free pads to people who were affected by the issue.

I assume that problem would've been rectified on the spectrum.

Other than that (and the rgb) they're identical.

    • Did anyone ask you? No? Then why comment? So many people love this mouse it has its own subreddit, so I dare to say you're wrong.

      • +2

        You are so brave deanylev.

      • -2

And who asked you yo reply. This is a board where people discuss the quality of products and whether they are a bargain. If you want a site where people only comment when asked perhaps you should find one that works that way.

        • +3

This is a board where people discuss the quality of products and whether they are a bargain

          And you did… Neither

        • -3

          @deanylev:

Do you somehow think if you say something that is neither true nor reasonable or if some misguided soul votes your comment up that it magically becomes true?

      • +7

While yelling "THIS IS SOOOO UGLY" is not particularly constructive, completely discounting any negative opinions just because "so many people love it" is also a bit shit.

        • Hmmm. Fair point.

        • -2

          @deanylev:

Funny how "to me this is so ugly" became "this is so ugly" with no context. Not mention that I then conceded that if it worked well it may still be worthile even though I don't like it.

There was nothing fair about the point at all. If there was a fair point to be made I would not need to be taken out of context.

Sorry I disparraged your precious mouse. Did your enjoyment of trolling make up for it? This place is nuts sometimes.

        • +1

@syousef: Whether you preface your opinion with "to me" or not, the statement is equally useless to everyone here. Looks are exceedingly objective. There is a photo on this post that everyone visiting can form their own opinion from, pretty much instantly - at least well before they get down to your caps lock exclamation.

The tone is the issue, I think. If you'd gone with the significantly less abrasive (and less capitalised) "While I'm not a fan of its looks…" there wouldn't have been a problem. Just a bit o' general internet (life) advice :)

        • -1

          @johnno07:

I'm not a politician and am not into politics. I gave my opinion. I wasn't rude about it. I didn't say anyone who likes this mouse is an idiot. I didn't downvote the deal. I didn't even put down anyone else's comment. I was very colourful and expressive about describing for my dislike of the styling of this item. That's all.

My point of view was most certainly misrepresented. But you have more of a problem with my "tone" than other people doing so. I prefer honest direct dealings to politically correct but passively aggressive nonsense, which is rife in modern society.

As for whether my opinion was useful, if that was the criteria for commenting here, one in ten comments or less would pass.

        • @syousef: I'm telling you that your tone, whether you are a politician or not, is why your comment has 15 negative votes. You can be honest and direct without being abrasive. You were abrasive. As long as you're not directly offensive, there is nothing stopping you from posting anything you bloody well please. Comment away! Just don't be surprised and offended if you get pulled up on it.

        • -1

          @johnno07:

It's 16 now. I hope I wasn't too abrasive in letting you know.

On Ozbargain people downvote anything they don't like regardless of tone. People like this mouse and don't like people criticizing it. End of story. This isn't being "pulled up" on anything. This is trial by popularity.

And once they take offence, they often then downvote anything else you post. I can't prove this of course because negative votes are anonymous. It's a fantastic tool for the trolls.

        • @syousef: Look, man. It's pretty clear to me that you haven't been down-voted just for disagreeing with the majority, but rather the way you disagreed with the majority. If you can't see that, then that's fine. Happy to leave this argument where it is. Have a good one :)

      • I'm enjoying seeing this little battle between you two, but to be fair, no one here needs permission to comment. Anyone can comment here as long as they have an account.

        • Don't you need an OzBargain Gold Account though to get all the features?

    • That's what she said

  • +2

Go to Officeworks and get them to price match it, will come down $67.64.

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/logitech-g5…

    • +1

Dumb Q: Do I just walk into Officeworks, pull up the ad on my phone and ask if they can price match it?

      • +2

Yep, that's all you need. Just grab the item, walk to the counters and show them the ad.

  • +1

Thanks OP, Just picked one up.

  • +2

Just got one from officeworks $67.64

    • Great mouse, so far so good.

  • +3

Love my Proteus Core! Recommend this mouse to absolutely anyone :)

    • +1

same! buy it buy it buy it

  • +1

Any good deal on gaming k/b?

  • +2

Got this a while ago during the eBay 20% off deals for about 90 bucks, solid mouse with plenty of buttons and the LED's make you feel like a teenager again.

  • +2

the g402 is also 47bux. cheapest staticice is 49.

similar shape without the fancy rgb and buttons

    • +3

Different optical sensor though, still great, but if you want the best it's g502.

  • +1

I just bought this on mwave last sat :(…. Good mouse though…

  • +4

I'm aware that this recommendation is 2-3 times the price. Just putting it here in case people are interested.

If I was getting a new mouse right now, it would likely be the new G900 Chaos Spectrum. I personally hate wired mice - I can't deal with the cord. I have a small hissy fit every time I feel any sort of wire-related resistance. Obviously, traditionally there has been a latency sacrifice by going wireless, however the G900 has better tracking/latency/signal reception than a lot of very decent wired mice. It can also be used wired. You do pay for it though - can be had for around the $200 mark.

    • +1

Just replied to top comment saying exactly that!! I love mine(and can compare to the mouse in question)! Charge twice a week with SOLID use.

      • It still is an expensive mother of a mouse though..

May I ask how does the grip/feel on the G900 compare to the G502 or G402? Which would be the most similar to the G900?

I have the G900 at home and am wanting to replace my G700s at work as I'm trying to ween myself off the high arch, and I don't want to blow another $200 for a work mouse hehe.

        • +1

Go the g402, its a slightly lower arch and RH mouse, but it does feel like it locks the hand in slightly better and for $47 atm can't complain. The g502 is similar to the g402 but with more buttons and a slightly larger feel, has more buttons for productivity so take that for what it is but at nearly twice the price wouldn't be a consideration for me personally.

      • Is the scroll wheel the free-spinning Hyperscroll one, or just regular? Having a hard time finding the answer with google

        • Hyperscroll. A regular button selector one, not the auto ratcheting one like on the MX Master though. It's actually on the product page on Logitechs site :P

      • 4 minutes apart! Well you know what they say about great minds… ;)

The G602 is my current daily driver. I do like that it takes 2xAAs that last for months. I'm not a fan of the side buttons though - too small and pokey - so I never use them, unless they get pressed accidentally. Not a hyper-competitive gamer, so I don't think I can justify the upgrade to the G900… unless you can persuade me haha.

EDIT: Bugger it - I persuaded myself. Just bought it for $190 off eBay.

  • -1

This is no match for my Logitech m305.

    • You're right, you can basically not even compare them.

  • For anybody interested in buying this mouse.

My experience with CSGO and as a daily driver.

The scroll wheel is really loud and unpleasant with a forceful tactile feel/bump.

The Sniper Button or the button just under where you place your thumb can get annoying and you may need to adjust your thumb positioning.

Other than that the mouse is amazing. It's perfect for somebody who alternates between claw grip and palm grip.

    Great features and comfort.

    • The g502 is a bit expensive for me I think.

Deciding between G402 or deathadder chroma. Which one is better? A bit of cs and lol.

  • I'm planning to buy a new mouse very soon, this deal is too good to skip for me, can anyone tell me how did you guys did the pricebeat?

  • I have a G700 and I found this mouse to be ridiculously small in comparison. I just couldn't hold it comfortably at all.

  • +2

Thought this was a bike helmet when I first glanced at the picture…

  • +1

Darnit. Literally bought one 3 days ago.
It's a great mouse. Coming off the MX518 I'd probably prefer a bit more palm-grip style (curved front end), but it lets you move around pretty easily.

    • I currently have the MX518 and love the MX518 but I'm due for an upgrade. Is it an improvement in comfort-ability?

      • as owner of both - Yes, the big thing is that the MX518 forces the third finger onto the top of the mouse, when its really needed at the side.

Many youtube reviews indicate improved hand feel for 502 from 518, and I agree. Also upgrade to poll rate and dpi.

        Small hands here (coughs)

        • Had to count my fingers.. you mean the third finger as in the right click button for FPS? or you mean the forth finger should be on the side. Unless everyone has been using their fourth finger to right click for FPS and I've been doing it wrong all this time by using my third finger…

        • @R3XNebular:

i was counting upwards from 1 from the pointer lol.

so ring finger was always an issue for me on mx518 - lateral control suffered as pushing to the left (with my right hand) was controlled by pinky finger only.

I guess this misunderstanding shows why its so important to specify the units for your digits. lol?

      • Only had a few days with it:
I got used to having my full hand resting on the 518 (three fingers on top), and the mouse-wheel of the G502 is just a bit too big for that resting to be quite as comfortable. Still very comfortable, just moreso if I only keep two fingers on top.
I also found I had to disable a few of the buttons including:
1 - side-scrolling on the mouse wheel. Too easy to activate, and had random effects in a lot of applications.
        2 - sensitivity up/down. I found I was hitting them too frequently.
3 - profile changer. Doesn't serve a purpose for me.
Still appears to be a great mouse. I may just be a bit nostalgic.

  • How to activate the price beat at OW? Do you just walk in their store and show them the price of the mouse from JB-Hifi? can anyone give me a guide?

    • +4

walk in like a boss, whip out your phone and show them the jb hifi ad. look at them in disgust and demand the pricematch.

    • +1

yes, just going to any OW store, tell staff u want to price-match this product with JB hi-fi.

  • Not sure about the price but it is a great mouse very happy with mine (had 2 Roccats before)!

  • I paid $99 for it first week came out like 2 months ago,? after my g9x died :(

Good price if you are looking to pick it up.

Only thing about this mouse that hinders my performance in game is the "sniper button" i've had to wedge it shut and duct tape over it for grip as it serves no purpose for me.

    • i've had to wedge it shut and duct tape over it for grip as it serves no purpose for me.

Sigh why not just disable it in the Logitech Gaming Software?!

      • +1

Why would you sigh it's my mouse?

And because disabling the software function doesn't help with the physical presence of it being there interfering with my grip.

        • If you'd known before purchasing that you were going to have to duct tape it up, would you still have bought it?

        • Ah ok, I misunderstood the issue. I sighed because a perfectly healthy G502 has had surgery done on it :3

        • @johnno07:

Yeah still would, the sensor is good

          @deanylev:

There has been worse done to it, people hack sawing it off etc

    • My G9x is is dying as well

      • Shame hey?

Can get replacement kits though just need to buy a solder

  • i just bought this mouse last night from eBay at $88…… i was telling myself i should just wait for a deal (true ozbargainer) but my need got the better of me this time, never again will i buy something not on sale!

    • can you just email the seller to cancel and get this one?

  • Thanks for a great deal. I bought one tonight and loving it straight away. really fit my hand and feel very comfortable.

  • Just to note, I use the middle mouse button to click thousands of times a day with 3D work related things. It's terrible. The amount of pressure required will make anyone get pain in their finger using it.

    • Bind the left/right middle clicks to just be normal middle click. Much easier to press.

      • Smartest thing I've heard all week. Good call it does cut the amount of pressure required by more than half!

  • has the deal expired ????

  • no longer showing on the website.. maybe ask in store

  • God damn it I put one on hold to pick up this afternoon from officeworks. This means I can no longer price match :(

  • Nooo, it expired, i was planning to get it today, sad

  • Wanted to get one today too as it was posted around 6.30PM yesterday. What deal lasts for no business hours?!

    • +1

      An amazing deal.

      • Good point haha!

Anyway, I got it in-store today at $71.20, so it's still available!

  • +1

I was able to get it in store, so looks like its just the webpage that has been removed.

    • Which store? I called them up earlier and it was $89 and not $71.20.

      • I'ts AUD 71.20 after discount.

  • +2

Guys, just got mine from JB HiFi for AUD 71.20. Call the store to check first. If they have it, it'll go for the AUD 71.20. They just took it off their website in case too many people order them and they don't have the stock to deliver.

  • Is there any in Melbourne or Sydney close to prestons or Liverpool

  • As a long time user of the G502, paint the scroll wheel and get ready for the dirt in the trianglely textures, other than that it's a great mouse! but really… paint the scroll wheel

    • Or replace it with the G700/s wheel assembly. Also makes it lighter as a bonus :p
