Hey guys!

I recently undertook a Level 2 First Aid Certificate at my workplace. It got me thinking. What can I do to help others if they are injured? Work or home, on the road etc.

Thursday April 28th (11 days from now) is the annual World Day for Safety and Health! http://www.ilo.org/safework/events/safeday/WCMS_316480/lang-…

As a result, I negotiated an OUTSTANDING deal with Becky from everbuying https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/everbuying.net

Not just any old First Aid Kit, but a 'Premium' First Aid Kit that IMO is a great all round kit.

It can be carried in the car, kept at home, in the work van, travel suitcase, the small business workplace etc; and it will be very useful in times of need.

Tell your boss, tell your mum.

This First Aid kit contains

1 x Scissor
1 x First Aid Blanket
1 x Plastic Tweezer
2 x Elastic Bandage
1 x Tissue Tape
10 x Alcohol Prep Pad
10 x Adhesive Bandage
4 x Sterilization Wet Paper
5 x Gauze Swab
1 x Ice Pack
1 x Aluminum Alloy Whistle
1 x Stainless Steel Knife Card
1 x Spontaneous Electric Flashlight
1 x Triangular Bandage
1 x Silicone Tourniquet
10 x Stainless Steel Pin
2 x First Aid Handbook
1 x EVA Bag

It compares well (contents and physical dimensions) to this kit from St. John http://shop.stjohn.org.au/soft-case-personal/?gclid=Cj0KEQjw… which sells for $54.95

This is 55% cheaper, delivered!

2% discount for purchasing through the everbuying app will save you another ~45c!

A wise 'just in case' purchase which wont break the bank.

These first aid kits are bought ( in bulk buy of 1000) around $5 from China. Extremely poor quality
Fortunately 95 % of the kits end up in land fills as many rarely use it other than a band aid or cotton wool.
If you have an old kit just refill them with some quality products at bare minimum quantity.
Then just check them day light time changing days and replish the expired stock.
This way you will have some quality useable products when an emergency knocks.

  • THanks for posting, i think i'll give up waiting for this one to arrive..

Maybe it's been sent by a man on a canoe - it might get to you before the year is out - Don't lose hope.

  • You can make your own first aid kit cheaply by buying all the stuff from $2 shop
I went to a first aid course last weekend and the nurse giving it told us this

  • There is nothing premium about this apart from the markup. Don't skimp on something like a first aid kit.

This case looks like everything will come tumbling out every time it's opened and with what looks like only two compartments there's no way to organise your gear to find what you need quickly in an emergency.

I doubt the scissors will cut. Stainless steel pins will likely rust. The "Spontaneous Electric Flashlight" will work…spontaneously. I've never found cheap adhesives to stick for very long. What use are plastic tweezers! A decent instant ice pack is about half the size of this entire kit and even then they're not going to do much. Why two first aid handbooks…ditch one to make room for something useful. How are a knife card EVA bag going to help?

Buy a case that has useful compartments (I bought kits just for the case and swapped out most of the contents). Customise it for your need but basics should include things like

    sturdy, sharp scissors
    pencil and pad
    good sized elastic bandage
    quality non stick gauze
good bandaids in a few sizes
    antiseptic
    quality stainless tweezers
saline for flushing eyes and wounds
    gloves
    CPR mask

This would be, perhaps, suited to very minor scratches and abrasions. It would be useless to provide first aid for anything at all serious, such as might occur in a car accident.

I suggest a fishing tackle box, or a small tool box as a suitable container for your kit which you would be best to put together yourself.
